"What's your name?" a small pink unicorn filly with a brown mane asked a purple colt.
"..."
"You don't seem to talk a lot."
With a guttural groan, a now older pink unicorn mare sat up from bed. Her eyes were bloodshot from staying for most of the night. She glared at the ringing alarm clock with pure malice that would've made Discord even whimper in complete and utter fear. She then slammed her hoofed at the accursed contraption.
Now with a relieved sigh, she started on her usual morning routine. Well, an almost usual routine. The only difference was that this is the first day that she is in her new home. It left her with only discomfort and unfamiliarity, with some frustration on the side. She never knew why things were always like this; why events never turn to her favor for once, why she has to move from her home of Los Pegasus to this other city (Ponyta Beach she resumed it was called). At least this new home was bigger than that small apartment.
She looked at herself in the mirror, on the other side was the same pink mare with a brown mane and pair of eyes. Her mane kept smooth from the shampoo followed by repetitive combing afterwards. She sighed.
"Eris, breakfast is ready!" she heard from downstairs.
"I'm coming!" Eris responded, she then headed downstairs. She passed by half open boxes and randomly strewn furniture in the hallway before she met up to her destination. A table where her mom, brothers, and step father sat in as they ate a hearty meal of hay bacon and toast with some eggs.
"Eris, your breakfast is getting cold. You don't want your food to be stale." Eris shifted her gaze to her mother, whose fur was a strawberry red with a bright chestnut mane. "Come here, eat."
She took a seat beside her stepfather, a brawny stallion that had only gray fur and a lighter gray mane. But despite being muscular and physically fit, he was actually a college professor. Heck, most of his studies were mostly focused on the biology of the equine body which led him to essentials of how he could stay healthy.
Eris thought of everything as she ate (and hoping that she didn't unintentionally wolf down her breakfast). Like of how is she going to fit in her new school, Ponyta Junior High, home of the Jackrabbits. She heard of the school as it gain its fame of "Magnet of Talented Individuals" motto, it was decent compared to the...other schools. Then there's that thought if she's ever going to see that colt, the one from her dreams, no, from her memories. She may only knew that colt only from elementary but their friendship was something never forgettable even though she doesn't remember his name anymore. But the chance of meeting a pony you only met six years ago was very slim, very, very slim. So she shrugged off the thought and finished her meal.
"I gotta go," Eris alerted everypony as the clock read seven-thirty. "Bye, love you all."
"Wait, Eris." her mom called out before she could just exit to the door.
"Yes mom?" Eris said.
"Your bag, you almost left it." Eris immediately brought it to her magical grasp.
"Oh, thanks. Bye now." She then bolted out, but not before she was stopped by her mom, again.
"Eris, you know how to get to school?"
"Mom, I'm thirteen. I'm pretty sure I could find my way to school easily. It's only five blocks away." Eris groaned as she rolled her eyes, she then decided to just walk instead of galloping there as she saw no big need to hurry.
"Don't talk to strangers!" her mom shouted out before she was gone in the horizon. Her mother then went back to the kitchen, along with the same brawny stallion at the table as he read the newspaper.
"You worry too much." he commented.
Meanwhile at a different house. A purple pegasus with a bright orange mane sat alone on a counter with his breakfast (a bowl of Frosty Crunch). He was the only pony awake in the household first. It was going to be a mundane routine, mundane to him. Which was eat breakfast, take a shower, and go to school
. He then wore a clothing of his choice, a hooded sweatshirt. No doubt that it was going to be hot today, but the classrooms were always cold as the frozen north. With everything in check, he spread his wings and flew off to his school, Ponyta Junior High.
Ponyta Junior High, the one place that is more bitter than home (to his opinion). In controversy, it was the haven away from his over-expectant father, his fragile brother, and his abusive older sister.
Nicknamed Meow, he always reminded himself of all the dumb things he done, putting himself in a never-ending torment of guilt. All of that bottled up in a young pegasus, and today's no exception.
Although through all the negative circumstances, Meow did remembered a more brighter time. A hazy memory it was to him, all he remembered was that there was a filly who was his only friend back at Los Pegasus, but that was six years ago.
He was now only drifting peacefully in the late October sky, his wings flapped once after each prolonged pause. The wind left him with the refreshing sensation that he enjoyed so much at his small journey to school.
"Another day of sitting down and doing nothing." Meow thought to himself, he yawned. "Hopefully I could sleep through first period without disruption."
And yet it he will not.
