You can't pick family
[Not Edited] Chapter 2 "Frolaaz"
Previous Chapter[E] Chapter 2 "Hi my name is"
The wind blew softly over Sweet Apple Acres. Applejack walked into her home. A few minutes later she walked out with what looked like clothes that could fit a dragon. A simple green flannel shirt, jeans, and a belt. As she calmly walked her mind was running. She was at a loss, Spike have a blood relative? Even though it wasn't out of the realm of possibilities, as she saw it right before her own two eyes, it just felt so far-fetched. Thoughts very similar to Applejack’s ran through Twilight Sparkle's own mind.
As Twilight sat next to the crying dragoness, she looked at her. There was little doubt that this was Spike’s blood sister. ‘What does that make us?’ she thought. ‘Adopted sisters? I don’t know who this ma-- er, dragoness is. Who knows what she likes, where she’s been, or even if she’s who she claims to be?’
"Here, put these on," said Applejack, handing over her spare clothes to Spike's sister.
"For... me?" she asked hesitantly.
"Yea, ah don't see anypony else not wearin’ clothes," replied Applejack, holding out the clothes.
The dragoness jumped on her in seconds, giving her a fearsome bear hug. "Thank you so much!" She let go, now holding the clothes and said "I’ve never been given anything before!" She looked to Applejack holding her hat over her face, hiding a blush.
"No problem..."
"Has nopony ever really given you something before?" Rarity asked.
"Nope, never... now what do I do with these?" she asked, staring at the clothes.
"You put them on, Darling."
"Like this?" The dragoness asked putting her arms through the pant legs.
"No."
"This?" She now had the shirt held around her waist by the belt, like a loincloth.
"*sigh* No. Here, let me help you."
After few minutes of struggling with the dragon, Rarity managed to put the clothes on her.
"I feel so... weird" she groaned, trying to undo the belt and unbutton the shirt.
"Stop it!" Rarity said, slapping away her hand. "Ladies don't undress in public. Even if their clothes are not very... lady like."
"Hey!" Applejack cut in.
""AJ darling just LOOK at them!"
"*Humph*" she protested, crossing her arms looking away.
"Girls, Stop it! I just realized something."
"What?" asked Spike's sister.
"We don't know your name."
Spike just blinked a few times, before face clawing and muttering a curse under his breath.
"That’s right! So, sis, what is your name?"
"Oh yeah, how silly of me! It's Barbara." Barbara said, smiling. She pulled Twilight into a hug. "Thanks for asking, but I just realized something too! I don't know your names!"
"You're right!" Spike said, a bit shocked "Well sis, my name's Spike, this here is Twilight, my... other sister."
"... but I'm your sister, so that means... I HAVE A SISTER!" She yelled happily, hugging Twilight.
"Can't breathe!"
"Oh, sorry!" she said, quickly releasing Twilight.
"*huff**huff* It's... all right, but it is very nice to meet you, Barbara. By the way, my full name is Twilight Sparkle," she stated a matter-of-factly.
"Now, who are you girls?" Barbara said, spinning around.
"Well howdy, Barbara, my name’s Applejack but ya'll can call me AJ. It's mighty nice to meet chya!" Applejack said, shaking Barbara's hand.
"Same here! And sorry for attacking you earlier, I wasn't in my... right mind, you know?"
"It's fine, you were just looking for yer brother. I know I would do anything if somethin’ happened to my family."
A soft smile appeared on Barbara's face. Not the overly happy one she was wearing earlier, this one was somber, a sad/happy smile if you will. She gave Applejack a firm handshake. Applejack nodded in understanding.
"Last but not least!" Spike cut in, "Rarity..." he said, sighing happily.
Barbara looked over to Spike, and then to Rarity, a smile appeared on Barbara's face. "Nice to meet you Rarity." She said happily.
"You too, darling." replied Rarity giving Barbara a dainty handshake.
"Now that that's done with, let’s go check out the town!" Spike cheered.
"I'd love too!" Barbara said happily, walking off.
"Hey sis, it's the other way." Spike said, his only response being Barbara turning around.
Twilight grabbed Spike by his arm and pulled him closer. "Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"What do you mean?"
"She's a dragon!"
"Twilight, I'm a dragon..."
"Well, you're different. At least you were raised around ponies, she wasn't!"
"Really, Twi? That sounded kinda species-ist." Spike deadpanned.
"Spike!"
"What? It did... Hey, sis! Wait up!" Spike yelled, running up to his sister, leaving Twilight.
"It kinda did Twi." AJ said leaning over to Twilight.
Twilight sighed and looked down, walking after Spike. "I know..."
Applejack turned to Rarity. "Well Rare, ah need to get back to work, so keep an eye on Twi fer me... OK?”
"Don't worry about it darling, I will!" Rarity said smiling.
On the outside of town
"So sis? What’s it like being a dragon?"
"What do you mean 'being a dragon'?"
"I mean a real dragon, one born and raised in the wild!"
Barbara looked to Spike with pity, "Spike.” She put a hand on his shoulder. “Dragons can be born anywhere and still be a real dragon. There are tons of different kinds of dragons, cave, mountain, magic, and many more. It isn’t so hard to think that there might be a city dragon, and if not, you could be the first!"
"A city dragon?" He questioned
"Yes, Spike; a city dragon,” she said, smiling. “So, Spike. How’s it like, now being an official city dragon?"
"I don't know... I need to tell Pinkie! I'M A CITY DRAGON!" Spike yelled happily as he ran off.
Barbara chuckled at the absurdity of the situation.
Twilight walked up to Barbara, smiling. "That was nice."
Barbara looked to Twilight. "He's so insecure," she sighed, shaking her head before walking after Spike.
