Ponymon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Equestria
Chapter 1: A Storm at Sea
Crack! Lightning pierced the sky as rain started to beat down on the beach. The small bubble-crabs ran for shelter under a near-by rock, as ponies ran for their homes.
A small shadowy figure fell from the sky. It screamed out for help, trying to flap her wings and stay up, but to no avail . Nopony could hear her. She finally let go of her attempt to stay up, and she passed out.
The late night sunset shone upon a young pony. She had a lime green coat, and her mane was a beautiful deep sea green. She stared at the grate of sticks in front of her.A large house with a pink and teal design on it. She paced as she thought to herself.
No, she thought as she tensed her muscles and braved up, I can't be paralyzed by this anymore! I've gotta be brave, and not be a scaredy pony!
She stepped cautiously onto the grate, worried that it might collapse under her weight.
"Pony detected! Pony detected!" a voice cried out. "Who is it?"
"Umm... It's Leaf.." Leafy said nervously, beads of sweat falling on her forehead.
"It's Leafy Breeze! It's Leafy Breeze!" the voice called.
Suddenly, Leafy Breeze got scared. She backed away quickly, screaming in panic.
"I got scared and wimped. Again." she said. She looked at a relic that her grand mare had given her the day she got her cutie mark, which was a leaf with a small explorer's badge on it.
"I thought holding on to my personal treasure would inspire me. But I just can't do it." she said out loud to herself as she picked up the small stone. She walked towards the beach to get some relaxation. But little did she know, two stallions were watching her.
"Hey, Bat Wings" a lavender unicorn stallion with a skull and crossbones cutie mark said."Didya get a load of that wimp?"
"Yeah!" The shorter pegasus said. He was a darker share of lavender, and his wings were bat-like. His cutie mark was a small blue bat. "She had treasure. We should nab it!" he replied, grinning.
The taller unicorn used his magic to create a could of thick, smelly smoke to hide them. The two stallions trotted off, unseen by the guard in the grate.
The sun glinted off the sea, giving it an orangeish-red glow. The bubble-crabs blew bubbles into the sky, lighting up as well. The JukeBugs, bugs that could make music, played a calm melody. The whole beach seemed to be in a calm state, and it looked beautiful.
Leaf trotted onto the beach, her head down, as she sat on the sand, the gentle waves splashing her hooves.
"Wow! What an impressive sight!" Leafy whispered to herself as she awed at the beautiful scene unfolding before her eyes. She always came here whenever she felt down. The beauty of it all calmed her and made her happily content.
"Hey...what's that?" Leafy asked herself as she looked across the beach.
A creamy white unicorn lay on the sand, unconscious. It's mane was a light brown, and it was obviously a mare. Its cutie mark was an oval shaped coin. It seemed to be alive, but Leaf couldn't tell.
"Are you okay?" Leaf said worriedly as she trotted over to the unconscious mare, her eyes widening.
"Urgh..." the mare said as she stood up weakly, her eyes blurry as they opened slowly.
"Fewf! You are okay! I thought you were dead! What are you doing here?" Leaf asked, a relived look spreading across her face.
Where am I? Stormy Cloud thought as she stood on the beach. I am a pegasus, but my wings are gone! And I am totally different! she thought as she looked herself over.
"I'm Leafy Breeze, but you can call me Leaf! Glad to meet you!" Leaf said, grinning. "What's your name?"
My name? Stormy thought as she tried to recall.
"I'm ... Uhh.. Stormy Cloud!" she recalled. "I'm a Pegasus from Cloudsdale!" That, however, was all she could remember.
"A pegasus? You look like a normal unicorn to me!" Leaf said, surprised. "And where is Cloudsdale?"
What! I've turned into a Unicorn, and I'm definitely not in Cloudsdale! she thought to herself. But how did this happen? And why?
"Are you pulling a prank on me?" Leaf asked suspiciously.
"What!! No!!" Storm exclaimed, waving her hooves in a panicked frenzy.
"I guess I'll trust you, you don't seem like a bad pony!" Leaf decided, smiling.
"Thanks!" Storm smiled. It was good to have a friend in a new place.
Suddenly, the 2 stallions that spied on Leaf came up to her and pushed her into a cave wall. Storm caught her, scowling at them.
"What do you think you're doing to Leaf!?" Storm said angrily. She didn't want anypony hurting her kind friend.
A small stone engraved with an intricate design fell on the ground.
"We'll be taking that!" Smog Air, the unicorn, exclaimed, using his magic to levitate the stone over to himself as they ran into the cave.
"My treasure!" Leaf exclaimed as tears welled up in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Storm asked, worried.
Leaf explained everything sadly.
"That's terrible! We've got to get it back!" Storm said, helping Leaf stand back up.
"Yes! We won't lose!" Leaf yelled passionately, as the two explorers ran into the cave.
At that moment, their fates were sealed. They just didn't know it yet.
