Chapter Three: Search for her everywhere

Previous Chapter

I wake up the next morning to one of the alarms blaring into my consciousness, Instantly rip out my knife, and scan the room. I see Aurora attempting to sneak out of the room. staring at me. I wink at her, and get up. I try to follow her into the kitchen, but she locks the door behind her, so I dig around in my mane, and pull out a flathead screwdriver, and a paper clip. A few minutes and a heavily bent paper clip later, the door is open. I grin triumphantly and announce, “Finally, I get to open another one, it’s been a while since I needed to do that, or could.”

She gives me a withering look, and says, “Go sit on the couch, Midnight.”

I’m having none of that, she had a bad night, I’m gonna cook, “But you had a trying night, and you need to rest, Allow me to make some food… I know a recipe for chocolate covered cereal.” I add the last bit as an afterthought.

“Go sit down. After last night, I owe you this at least.” So insisting, so losing. I grin, and with my best evil grin, I Levitate her, I love how light pegasi are, After carefully placing her onto the couch, I turn back to the kitchen. “Midnight! Let me do this for you,” She calls, sounding somewhat frustrated.

I ignore her demands, and reply in the most foalish way possible, “Not listening, Lalalalalalalalalalalalala…” She stops trying to speak over my singing, so I stop doing it, and blow a raspberry at her, before begging to prepare said cereal, getting out the Milk, chocolate chips, and powdered sugar, “Pfft.” so mature, hah. I finish preparing the cereal, and make a bowl for each of us, I then sit at the kitchen table, wait for her to walk over, and begin eating.

Aurora watches me eat for a minute, before she gets a pained expression, and pushes her bowl away, “Not hungry…” Definetly not because of the jerky… Celestia I love jerky.

I look across at her, giving her a flat expression, “What? There is no meat in yours, I wouldn’t want to deal with a sick, emotionally unstable mare.”

“Not. Hungry,” She repeats, much more forcefully, but still almost whispering, I see tears forming in her eyes.

I shrug, and finish my cereal, before eating hers, once I finish, I look her in the eyes and say, "Alright I am not waiting any longer. You are going to eat something, anything, and then, you are going to tell me what made you break down last night, and there is no getting out of it." She looks a little insulted, and she begins crying as she turns and walks out of the kitchen silently. I concentrate and levitate an apple out of the pantry in front of her, “Eat, now.” I insist, but she pushes the apple out of her way, and keeps walking. I move the apple back in front of her, “You will eat the apple, or I will crush it and teleport it into your stomach.” well, the back of her throat, but she doesn’t need to know that. She ignores me, walks to the door of her room, turns, glares at me, challenging me to follow her, and steps into her room, slamming the door. I hear heavy furniture being moved in front of the door. “Sometimes, I should think out threats before I make them.” I say to myself, quietly, before magically crushing the apple into a thick sludge, and teleporting the paste into the back of her throat, bit by bit, my honor demanding I do so, even if I shouldn’t, I can always apologize later, and by the moon I will, until she forgives me. After I finish teleporting the whole apple, I walk around the house and check all of the windows leading out of her bedroom, before applying my magical tripwire spell to them, Don’t want to drive her out of her own house, and I don’t want her to get hurt. She could always ask me to leave anyways. I walk back into the living room, and sit on the couch, playing a game of sudoku I dug out of my mane, I never understand how I do this. After a minute, and one completed puzzle,  I hear a crash from the bedroom, followed by one of the alarms going off in my head, it sounds like an alarm clock beep, beep, beep, SHADDAP.  I teleport into the room, pulling my trusty knife out and looking around. I see a note on the bed, it’s crinkled and tear-streaked, it reads.

Dear Midnight,

I need to be alone for a while. Don't bother looking for me. You won't be able to find me.

Signed,

Aurora"

I see a pile of mush that must have at one point been the apple in a corner, I chuckle a little, while crying a little I’m an idiot, well, at least I’m an honest idiot. After a moment to collect myself I fly out the window, following Aurora’s slight lilac scent, and the slight trail of drag behind her. I follow the trail into the Everfree forest, and curse her choice of direction, after a while the trail begins to fade, several minutes later I hear a scream from somewhere to my north, so I follow it.
