Fallout Equestria: A Demon's Fate

I suppose, I should tell you my tale from the beginning, well, not the very beginning, that would take too long. No, I should begin at the beginning of the end. But before I get into that, I should probably begin by explaining Nether.

What is Nether? Well, Nether is an energy that all living creatures possess. It is very similar to magic in the way that it is channeled; via focus, and practice. But the similarities end there. Nether was first used by an Equestrian mare named Cherish, in order to join the equestrian army despite not being a Pegasus or a Unicorn. Back when earth ponies were looked down upon by the other races.

Nether can be channeled to various effects, though has been primarily used as a combat art that was referred to as the 'Iron Arts'. An art that regrettably has become forgotten or banned.  Nether energy can be molded around the body as an armor to drastically increase defense and striking force.

Nether energy acts as a shield against magic, and can negate the effects of spells and various magical forces for as long as they are in contact with Nether energy. Of course the strength of the Nether energy and the magic in question are important factors. A beginner Nether user could never negate a fire spell from a unicorn like Starswirl, or ignore a shield spell from an adept royal guard and so on.

Nether energy fluctuates and changes depending on the will and mental state of its user. If a strong willed and kind pony uses Nether to protect those they hold dear. Nothing will be able to shatter their connection to the Nether. However, if a pony who is at odds with themselves and bends easily, the Nether will devour them; Twisting and corrupting their desires until they know only destruction.

It is for that very reason Nether was forbidden from being taught to the younger generations. As a result not many ponies have ever heard of Nether.
