The Interesting Life of Sweetie Belle
By Sinnia Verika
Entry #1
I suppose the correct way to start this off is to say "Hello."
The truth is, I'm not sure what to say. You aren't a pony, or any other kind of living thing, so it would be silly to talk to you. You're just a book. A book that Rarity gave me, but just a book all the same.
Rarity thought that with my first day of High School being tomorrow, it would be the best time to give me a diary. That's what you are, a diary. Most ponies start off their entries by saying "dear diary". But I assure you that I am not most ponies. (Also, Scootaloo tells me that it is considered "cool" to do things that most ponies aren't doing. Because that would be too "main stream". Whatever that means.) And while I know you are just a book, with no internal thoughts what-so-ever, I know that I'll probably be reading this later. Or at least that's what Rarity tells me anyway.
So instead of starting with "dear diary" as many do, I will start with "Dear Sweetie Belle" as I am technically talking to my future self (though future Sweetie Belle will probably be just as clumsy as me and will probably end up accidentally burning this thing or something).
Okay, so it's not that original, but what are you going to do about it? You already wrote it and I'm not changing it!
...please don't ask Twilight about time travel magic. I've heard the stories.
Anyway, my first day of High School is tomorrow. Of course, I get to be one of the lucky students who get to play guinea pig for the school district; it's a brand new school. Ponyville has almost always been a small town, a simple school house serving the learning needs of all the fillies and colts 1st through 5th. The school house and Cheerilee are still there (she teaches 3rd grade now), but it's ballooned into a larger elementary school since then (Old School House Elementary they call it).
I'm not old.
Heck, I'm only 13. (My birthday was last week!)
But ever since Twilight became a princess, Ponyville grew. A lot.
After elementary school, I was going to have to go to a private school in Canterlot for Middle School and High School. But then Apple Road Middle School opened, and I got to stay with my friends. I wasn't one of the students that pioneered the opening of that school though (I was in 5th when it opened), but I guess I didn't escape that luxury.
Tomorrow Ponyville High opens its gates for the school year for the first time ever.
I'm kind of nervous... I mean, wouldn't you be if it were your freshman year at a brand new high school? Oh wait- you were!
There's only going to be a freshman and sophomore class this year... I guess it's the school district's way of trying out the school with "minimal damage". (Or at least that's what Rarity says. Apple Bloom said that Apple Jack says that they're just trying to save money on their first year. I'm not sure how that works, but I don't really care.)
Tonight there's some sort of Orientation for all the families of the students attending the school, and the "big reveal" of the mascot is supposed to happen. (I think it's going to be a manticore, but Scootaloo is certain that it will be a timber wolf. We asked Apple Bloom what she thought it will be and she mentioned something about fruit bats, but I don't think she cares that much.)
In fact, the Orientation is in an hour, and I really don't want to go. Summer has been great - no school, I finally got my cutie mark, and Diamond and Silver finally learned their lesson (I think) - and I really don't want it to end. In a way, the School Year really starts tonight; we are getting our schedules and get to meet our teachers after all. My first year of high school is literally an hour away, and I can't help but feel like I'm not ready.
Oops, make that 59 minutes.
I suppose I should go get ready, first impressions and all.
Wish me luck! (Even though you can't because you're me and it already happened)
-Sweetie Belle
P.S. At least I get to meet up with Apple Bloom and Scootaloo at the Clubhouse before the Orientation. We invited Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, but I'm not sure they'll show up (I'm kind of hoping they do, after what happened. Scootaloo said that she, and I quote, "doesn't give a crap" if they do. Don't worry, I promptly scolded her on her language, even if Rainbow Dash wouldn't have cared much.)
P.P.S. Apparently the Principle is also supposed to be a surprise, but everyone kinda knows it's going to be Twilight. Everyone has been talking about it, and who else would it be anyway? (the only pony not talking about it is Apple Bloom. When I asked her what she thought about it, she just shrugged.)
P.P.P.S. (I promise this is the last one) Rarity, if you're reading this, shame on you! I thought we all learned our lesson after Gabby Gums put away her type writer for good... even if that was like, forever ago (Okay, six years, whatever.). Just pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaassssssssseeeeee don't read this! It's my secret book filled with my thoughts, okay? Just like you said before. I hope you never have to read this note...
