As Twilight carefully mixed her various concoctions, a loud knocking noise was heard on the back door. The unicorn opened the door with a door opening spell. What happened next, Twilight did not intend.
"Twily! I'm here to help you with whatever random experiment your doing next!"
Twilight froze suddenly. She did love her brother... occasionally doing some "things" with him, but this was her MOST important experiment yet: She wanted to open a Trans-Dimensional portal to an alternate universe! But at this rate, she was getting nowhere... and Shining would always agree to be her test subject. So, after 5 seconds of thought, she finally answered by saying,"Come down! I'm in the basement!"
Shining only barely heard this, but he happily obliged to his sisters wish. He trotted down the stairs, being careful not to trip on the twisted step, and jumped onto the floor. But not without knocking over a few important looking machines on accident. Twilight looked at him with a face-hoof and told him to take a seat. After explaining the situation, Shining nodded and began working on the wires on a large, important looking machine with a frame shaped like a portal. For a few minutes the siblings worked in silence. Twilight suddenly burst and jumped up so high, that her horn pierced the top of the room, and driving through Spike's foot.
"EEOUCH!!"
"Sorry Spike!"
You see, what Twilight did was calibrate a soul gem into a usable source of power for the portal! She galloped over to the portal, screaming"YES YES YES!!!". She injected the gem into the machine and it roared to life. But, Twilight was forgetting the most important rule of portals: they like to be used. This one just so happened to be wrongly wired by Shining, and was given more power than needed. Papers flew, and flasks filled with toxic chemicals tipped over! The siblings rushed to keep the items from falling and tipping. At that moment, a rushing torrent of wind circulated in the center of the room, sucking up all in its path.
Shining yelled out to his sister, screaming,"What the buck is going on here!?"
Twilight could only shrug her shoulders in reply... a flying flask banged against her forehead and knocked her unconscious on the lab floor. Shining was swept up, and yelled one final word before disappearing in the portal.
"TWILY!!!!!!!!!!!
..............................................................................................................................................................................................
Twilight awakened hours later, with a serious gaping wound on her forehead. The portal had closed, and the research papers... all gone. Twilight could barely see with all the blood pouring over her eyes, but she noticed something... a little detail that shouldn't be missing... Shining Armor, was gone.
What have I done... I've killed him... Twilight broke down on the floor and began to cry, her tears mixing with the blood on her face. After what seemed to be an eternity, Twilight got up, and climbed the stairs.Spike was probably taking his 12 hour nap.(again) With a heavy heart, she made herself a glass of tea. She pondered over what to do next, and what her brother's fate would be. She came to the conclusion that, maybe... the portal had worked. but she had no idea how Shining had the wires set, and even if she did, it would take days to find another soul gem, and even more to calibrate it. She was lost...
Meanwhile, in Skyrim...
Shining was not in a good situation. He was in a strange world, where ponies fought over everything. Friendship was minimal, and war had recently broke out. Shining awoke on a stone road. He decided it was best to walk on it until he found a town. This town in particular, was the stone city of Markarth. As Shining stared at the jaw-dropping architecture of the city, a guard in leather armor approached Shining with caution. However, when noticing he was a Unicorn, and not a Pegasus(Most Pegasi from the wilds of the Reach were part of the Forsworn), he greeted him by saying, "Welcome to Markarth, Safest city in the Reach.".
Shining took this as a sign that he was not going to be attacked by the citizens of this land (that he noticed was very cold), and proceeded into the city. The city was not to different from Fillydelphia, save the fact that the city had no factories producing goods. Shining was amazed at the architecture of Markarth. The spiraling stairs, the golden doors, the vibrant life, it all reminded him of home... Home... A place he may never see again. These thoughts of sadness were driven away by a familiar smell: Hay. By some odd magic, Shining seemingly rose up from the ground, and floated to the food stall. but was halted by a blood-curdling scream. Behind him, a pegasi had stabbed an earth pony in the back. The earth pony was- of course, dead. However, the guards(including the one from the gate) had surrounded him.
Shining stood in fear of what was happening. He had no weapons, or armor. The Pegasi said one last sentence before being struck down by a guard.
"For the Forsworn!"
For a moment, Shining was paralyzed, that is, until a Unicorn approached him and handed him a note. Shining's first thoughts were of the fourth grade. For obvious reasons. Shining unfolded the note and read it.
"Meet me at the topmost residence of the city"
Well, Shining decided to do as the note said and meet the stranger at the "Topmost residence". Where ever it may be.
Shining looked up at the top of the city, realizing for the first time how big the city was. After fifteen minutes of climbing, the white stallion finally reached the top of the city. Our hero made the easy decision to knock on the door, but before he extended his hoof, it opened by itself.
"Come in! Hurry!"
Shining Armor walked in the cluttered stone house. For the first time since he's arrived in this land, he spoke.
"What's going on? I need answers."
"Patience, Shining Armor. All your questions will soon be answered."
