Chapter 1. Introductions
Introductions
Always the same, everynight the same, nopony loves the night as I do, hmph no pony loves me!
Oh, Luna, don't do this to yourself, if anything you still have your sister, dear sweet Cee, even after Nightmare Moon she still loves me. I don't deserve such kindness, if they don't like my night then so be it, I like it and so does Cee, I hope.
Luna did this to herself everynight, pondering her social-status amongst EVERYPONY! Somewhere off in a field outside of Ponyville a sillouhette appears from the library, the purple pony then cotinues to the crest of the hill thinking to herself
Oh, Twi it's late you shouldn't be out. One side of her mind says, but the other speaks louder: Buuuuuut, why waste a beautiful night like this? just a few more steps and the glare, as small as it may be, will be gone and you can watch the stars twinkle. This thought elated her, afterall one of her favourite things to do was spend a night alone watching the stars; it was peacefu,l she told herself.
And if even possible another pony, half-way across Equestria, was already analyzing the heavens, this pony enjoyed the night, she had to, her ENTIRE family history was entertwined with that of Luna's. Afterall one of her ancestors saved the princess from death and was granted the best gift she could give; she made him a special body-guard, and since then they lived within the beck-and-call of the night-goddess, even during her darker history. This pony, through careful breeding, was an alicorn. Her coat was very similar to the goddess even down to her Cutie-Mark, which was granted at birth as a mark of her position to the royal sister. Due to this breeding she was also granted a natural affinity for magic, she was so powerful she even had a passive abliity to read minds . This power didn't over look the princesses, though the Sun goddess was less suseptible to this power. This Alicorn or rather Sol loved the idea of the heavens being filled with stars and other bodies. She knew enough of these beautiful objects that she named one that she saw: the Phiolic Nebula, named for her pet Phiolic, a beast of her own creation. When she inquired about this perticular object Luna chuckled and tod her that her name was much more creative than what she herself had named it: the Crab Nebula. Sol thought about paying a visit to the Night Goddess but though against it, ironicaly quite the opposite of what this lonely princess hoped for. Maybe tomorrow, maybe... She couldn't be closer to the truth of this thought. As always, she fell asleep in her childhood house, its empty embrace wraping her, comforting her. And at this same time the purple pony, in her solace, fell asleep on the crest of the hill.
"L-Lu?" The cream colored Alicorn asked. "Have you been awake all night?"
"Yeah," The Dark Pony replied. "Is it time to raise the Sun?"
"Yes," The Elder Princess replied with a yawn, before raising the bright orb, its rays falling across Equstia. Luna's eyes took a second to become accostomed to the new light.
"Are you tired?"
"No, do I look it?" Sincerity in her voice
"Yes, you look sick; almost like you've been up for a couple days now. You've been doing some thinking, I presume?" She was right.
"Yeah, the murders, I just, I think its my fault."
"Don't be silly. Of cour-" She was cut off.
"It is my fault, I, I did something you should know about..." She was about to break down, the truth having dawned on her.
"Did you do it?" Disbelief falling on her face.
"No but it's my fault, I just know it."

But before this conversation could continue another pony popped into the frame.
"Princesses, forgive me, but they've found another body!" The servant exclaimed. This was the third, the two before were found crippled and tortured, their deaths seemed random at first but each of their background stated that they had, at somepoint, wronged a pony. Their deaths were wrong in every sense of the word (they had been tortured and mutilated, their deaths were prolonged to ensure pain), but were still a crime, nopony deserved such a death.
Another one? Celestia thought, this is getting bad, what was Luna saying? "Luna, what were you saying?"
Luna looked around, the servant had left. Good . "It's my fault, when I turned into Nightmare Moon, she-I made my own version of the Elements of Harmony, but only one. This one, the Element of Torture must still exist..." She waited for Celestia to disown her, for her to banish her, or worse to look at her with Disapointment . But it wasn't any of those, only sorrow. Better than disapointment, I guess.
"Cee, are you mad at me?" The younger asked.
"No, it's just, are you sure?"
"Yes, when I rose as Her I need something to combat your Elements. If you remember it was where Ponyville now stands, thats where it began."
"Are you saying it's in Ponyville?" There was fear in her voice, not for herself but for Twilight Sparkle .
"Yes it is but I don't know where in Ponyville, and I don't know who in ponyville..." She didn't want to think of who had been corrupted by its dark magic, no pony was safe from it, nopony but an Ali- You don't need to put any other pony in danger, what you need is an Alicorn, Luna. But whom, the only she could think of were those in the royal family-Maybe one of the Darknebula family. Hope must have shown on her face.
"Luna, what is it?" Luna knew that maybe, just maybe a Darknebula still lived.
"I think I know who can help us."
"Who?"
"Only an Alicorn can resist its dark magic, does the name Darknebula ring any bells?" It did, Celestia couldn't place it but it was somepony whom had help Luna.
"That family is still alive?"
"I hope so, they're our only hope for this."
Luna had finished her letter to Twilight Sparkle describing the situation and the pony whom would be staying with her. Maybe I should ask if she can accomidate another pony, but we don't have time for that, I'm sure it will be O.K. At an instant a dark purple light had appeared beside her bed: she was here.
"My princess, you've called?" The Alicorn's voice was liquid night, Luna almost felt jealous of her voice.
"Err, yes Darknebula, your family has been loyal to me for generations, but none before Nightmare Moon, will test your loyalty like a task I have for you now. You have heard of the recent murders? She had, in fact Luna didn't have to say much, as she already knew where she was going with this conversation, but it would be rude to point out that fact.
"Yes I have, you need me to investigate? Luna had hidden her thoughts well after she realized that the Alicorn before her could read them.
"No, I need you to stop them." Luna explaned the situation, the Element of torture, and her accomidations.
"When will I leave?"
"As soon as possible." The Princess thought The sooner done the better. "Remember Ponyville is a nice, quaint town, an Alicorn will stick out, this mission must be kept secret between all who I deem worthy of this information; at most, only the holders of the Elements of Harmony may know: Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and of course Twilight Sparkle."
"Do you know anything about the Elements location?"
"All I know is that its in Ponyville, you may be able to detect it through some use of magic, until its discovery, you must keep me informed."
"How may I do this without actually seeing you?"
"Twilight Sparkle has a pet dragon, whom she uses to communicate with my sister, he will sevice, although he may no be willing at first." She chuckled at her jest. "You may leave when you are satisfied with this infomation, but do please hurry." She added with a sense of urgency.
"Thank you, my princess." Sol bowed not knowing if she should keep it formal. It couldn't hurt. she thought to herself.

Chapter 3. A New Companion
Somewhere off in the shadow of Canterlot stood a small town, where a well-know libarian recieved a letter via Dragon-mail.
The purple dragon's burp echoed through the small library.
"Spike, are you still hungry?" The purple pony cooed.
"Err, no its jus-" 'BRUP ' "Its just..." Some force didn't want him to finish that sentence, this amounted into a green jet of flame. "That." It was a letter. Hmm, something from the princess Twilight thought.
"Read it Spike." Enthusiasm in her voice. It has been a long time since I've talked to her.
"Twilight, I Luna am personaly writing you this letter and its contents are meant for your eyes only. -Spike, this means you-. Aww, but Twi." Spike wanted to know its secrets.
"Sorry, no buts, hand it over, please." The Purple dragon did so. "Lets see Twi, hmm, I luna, yes uh Secrets, oh here we are." She often muttered to herself.
"Twilight, forgive my urgentness, but due to the current circumstances, the recent deaths to be exact, I have requested that a pony is to stay at your current residence, again I due hope you understand that when I say that this pony is important you believe me. This pony, or rather Alicorn, will help us to solve these Murders. " Twilight shuddered at this word, but why is this pony staying here? Are the murders happening in this area? Is it somepony in Ponyville? "This Alicorn, as I said, will help us to stop these unnecessary deaths. I imagine that you will be meeting her shortly after reading this letter, if you have any further questions, as I'm sure you will, feel free to ask her. Although the thought of saying it is a top secret mission is cliché, know that it is.

The purple pony had entered a trance thinking of all the weights being droped on her chest after reading this letter, 'The murders are happening here?' and 'Who is this mysterious pony coming to my home?' . A knock at her door had helped out of this fit faster than she had hoped for. "I'm coming," Is that her? This soon? It was the Pegasus-Unicorn hybrid standing before her was beautiful to say the least, from here dark purple-blue coat, her mane being a shade most similar to night. She's just like Princess Luna.
"Are you, Twilight Sparkle?" There was no unncertainty in her voice, as she, of course, knew the answer was 'yes'.
"Yes, I am. Are you, perhaps the pony as mentioned by the Princess?"
"Yes Ma'am." Ma'am? Twilight blushed. I've never been called that before.
"Oh, please excuse me, come in, come in."
"Thank you." Her sixth sense picked up on Twilight's gratefulness from such a humble complement. "Your not reffered to with such politness, I understand?"
Twilight blushed once more. Was she reading my thoughts?
"Yes, that doesn't matter now, about my nature of this.." She was distracted by the unicorns thoughts causing her to search for her last word. "...Visit."
"Oh, yeah. Well, the Princess was not to descriptive in her letter, do you think you could fill me in?" She did. "I had no idea, there is no record of any of the events you've told me about."
"Yes, well, my family was quite thorough at hiding it..." She muttered hoping she didn't give away to much of her families history lest she explain her families extensive history. "At the first chance we get I'm going to need to be able to do a sweep of ponyville. Are there any old historic landmarks, something from early Equestria?"
"Err, it's not that old but Ponyville used to be a small farming village for apples, thats when the apple family got a land grant from the princess herself."
"Hmm, yes, anything older?"
"Well, I can't think of anything, but I'de ask Granny Smith for some history after all she's the reason it's here today."
"Maybe, tomorrow, can you take me to this, who, Granny Smith?"
"Of course. Her grandaughter is one of my friends. Are you sleepy?" She was starting to read the Alicorn's mind.
