The Thicker the Paint
My Beginning
Previous ChapterI levitated my hayaccino in a cloudy green aura. I sipped it daintily as I waited. Ponies were bustling all over town today. It was market season, and Sundays were always abuzz. Roseluck was selling some of her finest roses, while Applejack was selling the sweetest, juciest apples in all of Equestria. I had always thought of selling some of my paintings, but I never really got around to it. Lilac, my siamese kitten, slumbered peacefully on the wooden table. I smiled. Ever since I moved to Ponyville from Las Pegasus, I felt like a new unicorn. In the nighttime, instead of watching gamblers shyly, I was asleep, in the quiet of Ponyville. During the daytime, instead of working long, tiring shifts at a crowded bar, I was painting. And in the morning, instead of waking up 12:00 pm and having the worst hangover, I was up by 6:00 am and ready to paint myself silly. I glanced at my cutie mark. I was a late bloomer, but once I moved, I finally got it.
"Hi Crystal!!" Pinkie Pie squealed, interrupting my long train of thoughts. "Did you like your party last week!? Huh, huh, HUH!?" I laughed; Pinkie threw me a party just because I came to Ponyville. Luckily, Lilac was by my side the entire time, so I was never alone. I met all the Elements of Harmony, and we became insta best friends.
"Yeah, it was really fun. Plus, the cake you made was delicious! But I like things a bit more low key. Okay?" Pinkie nodded, and bounced away. Twilight trotted over with Owlicous. I waved.
"Hello Crystal. Hello Lilac." Twilight Sparkle smiled at the cute sleeping kitten, who was flailing her little arms in her sleep.
"Hey Twilight. Can I help you?" She nodded.
"Yeah, I wanted a painting for the library. You know, like a favorite book or something. I'd pay you," Twilight leafed through her saddle bag. "Maybe a Daring Do book?" She suggested.
"Twi, why do you think I would want your money? I'll do it for free. No charge."
"Oh! Well, if you really don't want the money. . .I guess that's okay. But are you sure?" I nodded. I'd do anything about art for free.
"But. . .can I come over? I was looking for a book on old Neponyeon dresses. I wanted to make a painting for Rarity's birthday." I said. Twilight nodded.
"I still don't know what to get her, so you're lucky. I have a way to make really glittery fabric, but I don't know if she'll want it."
"Twi! She'll love it! I promise."
"Okay, let's just get going," Twilight glanced about. "There's supposed to be a storm soon, and I want to get home." I nodded, finished the last of my hayaccino, threw it out, put Lilac in my saddle bag (With an air pocket of course), and galloped away. The wind had already started to kick up, and everypony shopping was gone. But then I realized that the sales ponies were still there.
"Twilight! We have to help them! We can use that transportation spell to help! I can't stand to see them like this!" I shouted above the wind. She nodded, and off we went. I ran to Applejack and used the spell. Once we finished, lots of rain, snow, and hail had already fallen. At last, we got ourselves to the library.
