"I'M WHAT?!"
Inside of the royal halls of Canterlot, Princess Cadence, a woman of pink, purple and cream colored hair, stood shocked in front of her aunts, not believing what she was hearing. Cadence also stood around six feet tall and wore a light pink dress with yellow accents. She also had Light pink colored wings and a light pink colored unicorn horn.
"You are to marry Queen Chrysalis, queen of the changeling race" Princess Celestia, Cadence's eldest aunt, and sovereign of the sun, announced to her. Celestia herself stood roughly around seven feet tall, though currently was sitting on her throne. She had hair colored pink, white and blue, and wore a gown of mostly white and blue coloring. Celestia had white wings and a white unicorn horn.
"We realize this is sudden, but you must in order for us to become allies and for us to help the changelings in their time of need" Princess Luna, Cadence's other aunt, and sovereign of the moon responded. she stood only five inches shorter than her sister and currently stood next to her. She had hair of mostly dark blue wearing a gown of dark blue and black coloring. Luna had dark blue wings with a dark blue unicorn horn.
"B-But I have a boyfriend! I-I'm one of the princess's of Equestria! Don't I have a say in this at all?!" Cadence questioned as she stood there clenching her fists.
"In this matter, no. This is for the sake of the Changeling race. Yes they have been our enemies once, but they need our help. Queen Chrysalis and I have been talking about how to bring our nations together and believe this is our best option" Celestia informed her.
"The changelings are also on the verge of extinction with little love to feed on in the Badlands. Not to mention a disease has wiped out all of their males, and they are currently a race of females" Luna added in.
"Which doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing" Celestia smiled and commented to herself.
"Sister! Please this is a serious situation!" Luna scolded her.
"Other than you thinking of your own harem of women Aunt Celestia, I still would have liked to have a choice about this! Isn't there another way we could make peace with them?! Couldn't one of you marry the queen?!" Cadence questioned and flared her wings.
"We cannot marry, for we are the sovereign rulers of the day and night Cadence. Plus I have a very hard time with commitment" Celestia smiled causing her sister to sigh.
"Please Celestia keep those comments to yourself..." Luna asked as she rubbed her head.
"B-But this isn't fair!" Cadence complained.
"And is it fair to the changelings that they couldn't be saved because you decided not to marry their queen? Especially as the Princess of Love, the Princess of their source of life?" Celestia asked, Cadence honestly having no answer for her. "I'm sorry Cadence, but you are going to marry Queen Chrysalis. It is your duty as a Princess of this nation, and your duty to the changelings since you are to marry their Queen." Celestia then stood up and walked down to Cadence.
"But...what can I tell Shining? We've been going out for a while now..." Cadence looked down wondering how she would break the news.
"That's something you'll have to figure out Cadence. And there is a bright side. Chrysalis is immortal like us, and from I remember seeing her last about 500 years ago, she was actually pretty hot" Celestia added in causing Luna to just groan out shaking her head.
"Thanks...I...guess..." Cadence just blushed as she turned to walk out of the room. Celestia smiled as she watched her walk out, with Luna coming to stand at her side.
"Do you really think this is going to work? Having the two of them marry to bring the changelings and ourselves together?" Luna asked her elder sister.
"I really think it will. And if Chrysalis still looks the way I remember looking, the two of them will be a cute couple" Celestia smirked.
Cadence sat in her bedroom, looking to a picture of herself and Shining Armor, sighing out as she looked to a picture of the two of them together.
"Oh Shining...how can I break the news to you?" she asked herself, dreading now that she had to tell her boyfriend of a year and a half that it's suddenly over now. she was taken from her thoughts as she suddenly heard a knock at her door, getting up to go and open it.
"Hey there cutie" in the doorway stood a man little taller than Cadence, smiling down to her holding out some flowers. He had blue and white hair and had a unicorn horn on his head.
"Shining! H-Hi sweety..." Cadence smiled, trying to hide she was bothered about something as she took the flowers from Shining Armor. "Oh, thank you honey" she smiled as she smelled and held them close.
"So did everything go well today? Did you wanna go out to dinner?" Shining asked with a smile, Cadence faked one, but sighed out as she sat down.
"Shining we need to talk...it's about what happened today" Cadence said looking down to the flowers as she sat on her bed.
"That sounds bad, did something happen today?" Shining asked as he sat next to Cadence.
"Yes it is about today...but to put it simply...Shining we have to break up" Cadance turned to look to him. "I'm to be married to the queen of the changelings."
Shining just sat there stunned. His eyes were wide and he couldn't exactly form words.
"I-I'm sorry I could have sworn you said you're getting married...to a woman" Shining coughed as he tried to comprehend this.
"I am...I'm to be married to Queen Chrysalis, queen of the changelings. So...it's over" Cadence said looking away from him setting the flowers down.
"So...that's it? Just like that? We're done?" he asked in disbelief. "Other than that being kinda hot...Ow!" Cadence slapped him on the shoulder for his remark.
"Shining this is serious! I have to get married and our relationship has to end! I've just had the rest of my life changed forever!" Cadence exclaimed and looked to him.
"I know it is but I can't really do much about it! I mean...I care about you but...you have royal duties" Shining said as he stood up. "So...I guess this is goodbye then" Shining said as he stood up, Cadence just looking to him confused.
"Y-yeah but..." Why does he seem a little too ok with this? Cadence thought something seemed wrong about this.
"Then I guess I'll see you...after all Captain of the Royal Guard. Well, enjoy being married to Queen whoever she is..." Shining said before walking out the door.
"S-Shining!" Cadence had ran to the door and watched him as he walked away from her room. "Shining!" she called again, but he didn't answer and just walked away. Cadence just felt crushed as Shining walked away, going back into her room and sitting on her bed in disbelief. "Was he that upset? B-But...he seemed to accept it like he was ok with it...?" she asked herself and teared up a bit, looking to the flowers. she grabbed them and was confused not what to do with with them. Should she keep them, or get rid of them for how Shining just acted now?
The next day had arrived a little too soon for Cadence, sadly not getting nearly enough sleep the night before. She was just thrown off by how her now ex-boyfriend seemed to react to yesterday. As if it all seemed fine to him and that maybe his reaction was a little...faked? Then again Shining had been a little distant lately, and maybe there was something she didn't know was going on. She'd figure this out later though and decided to get herself dressed once more, deciding one a dress that allowed more freedom to move in, with a skirt going down only to her knees, and a top with shorter sleeves that didn't reveal much bust. Cadence also decided to put her hair in a ponytail, smiling to herself as she remembered using this hairstyle often when she was younger.
"There, now to conquer the day" she said to herself as she stood up and walked out of her room. She had began to make her way to the dining hall, passing through the hallway that had windows to see the courtyard. As she walked by them and looked out into the courtyard however, she gasped seeing a crowd outside. "What in the world?!" she gasped out and flapped her light pink wings, gliding through the hallways to move faster. When she arrived to the door leading to the courtyard she opened the doors, and ran out, gasping when she was what was before her.
She looked out into the crowd, and saw nothing but changelings. However none of them were male. They all had dark skin with light blue eyes and green colored hair. Each of them also had a pair of fangs and had insect like wings sticking out of their backs, and curled horns on their heads. All of them looked exhausted from their travels and all of them were sitting on the ground. Cadence however turned to looked to one of the guards who stood at the bottomr of the stairs leading to the front door.
"You there, do my aunts know what is going on out here?" She asked as she ran down the stairs, and the guard just nodded to her.
"Yes your highness, we've sent word and they should be on their way" he answered and saluted her.
"Good, I'm going to get the nurses in the infirmary, they can probably come out here and check if any are injured!" Cadence called out as ran back up the stairs leading inside. When she ran back up the steps, she gasped as she tripped and missed a step falling forward, literally about to smack her face into the concrete steps. Why didn't I just fly?! Cadance thought as her wings locked up. She gasped out as she suddenly felt herself grabbed and lifted into the air, closing her eyes as she felt herself being held bridal style.
"My my, I never thought I'd catch a cutie who doesn't know how wings work" a teasing voice said to Cadence causing her to open her eyes. When she opened her magenta eyes, she blushed as she looked into the face of her savior. She had dark tan skin and dark green eyes. Her hair seemed to be green like an evergreen's leaves and she had a horn that seemed jagged and two shades of green. She had a green and black dress, which was quite revealing in both the chest and thighs. "Am I so beautiful you have no words for it?" her savior asked again in that teasing voice with a fanged smile, causing Cadence to blush once more as the woman holding her floated down to the ground.
"Th-Thank you..." Cadence blushed as she felt herself set down, the changeling before her folding her wings up and smiling.
"That was nice catch" Cadence and the changeling before her turned to see Celestia standing at the top of the stairs, clapping as she looked to the two of them. "And it's been a while Queen Chrysalis" Celestia smiled as she walked down towards them, Luna walking next to her.
"Ch-Chrysalis? Th-This is Queen Chrysalis?" Cadence asked with a blush as she looked to Celestia.
"Indeed I am, which means you must be my blushing bride to be?" Chrysalis teased again causing Cadence to turn away blushing brighter. "You are her! Oh I'm so glad I'm marrying a cutie who doesn't know how wings work!"
"H-hey I know how wings work ok?!" Cadence called out as they flared behind herself.
"Well at least I'll know when you get excited, your wings show it" Cadence immediately blushed once more and folded wings behind herself again.
"Other than teasing my niece I take it your journey was fine for the most part?" Luna asked stepping forward, chrysalis turning to her and tilting her head.
"Oh you're the Princess of the moon! You weren't around five hundred years ago. Pleasure to meet you, how was the moon?" Luna however glared daggers and literally her eyes and horn began to glow. "Sorry, I was curious and obviously it's still too soon."
"Please Luna that's just her way. Welcome Chrysalis" Celestia smiled walking over to her. "Please come in, we have rooms your changelings can stay in and can show them to where they'll stay" Celesita smiled and was going to show Chrysalis inside.
"As much as that is appreciated now, my changelings need food first before moving anywhere" Chrysalis crossed her arms as she looked to them very serious about this. "I don't go in until they eat."
"Then we shall feed them, isn't that right Princess of Love?" Celestia smirked looking to Cadence, Chrysalis looking to her raising an eyebrow. "After all your magic is basically pure love."
"Oh? Then you shall help me feed them" Chrysalis smiled as she looked to Cadence.
"E-Eh?! B-but I-I don't know how to feed five hundred changelings with my love!" Cadence's wings flared as she looked to them then looked to the changelings. when she looked back to see chrysalis, she gasped when Chrysalis was right in front of her. Cadence blushed as she looked up to Chrysalis, the woman standing almost as tall as Celestia.
"It's simple really, all we need to do is this" Chrysalis said as she suddenly lifted Cadence's chin, then leaned down pressing her lips to the others. Cadence immediately went wide eyed and she could swear her face so red she looked like an apple. However she felt her horn was touching against Chrysalis's, and relaxed into the kiss. She felt her magic flowing into Chrysalis's horn, and began to feel warm from head to toe. Soon chrysalis broke the kiss and smiled to Cadence, who just blushed and looked up to Chrysalis.
"That...was alot of love" she smirked and Cadence blushed looking away from her. Chrysalis then turned to her changelings and her horn began to glow, a pink light emanating from her horn until it reached all of the changelings. Their horns began to glow as well with the pink light, all of them seeming to be revitalized. Chrysalis smiled as she saw her changelings were satisfied, then turned to Cadence. she however was stunned as she looked out to the changelings, seeing that they were ten times better than they were before.
"Thank you."
"E-eh?" Cadence gasped as she looked to Chrysalis.
"With that little bit of magic, my people have eaten more then they have in the past 2 weeks of travel. Thank you, truly" Chrysalis said as she grabbed her hand and leaned down to kiss it, causing the Princess of Love to blush once more. Chrysalis then turned and looked to Celestia who was just smiling as she looked to the two of them. "Well, how about those homes for my changelings?" Celestia looked to Luna who just nodded to her.
"Of course, please have them follow the guards and they will lead them towards where they will stay" Celestia informed her and Chrysalis nodded, going out to her people to inform them what was to happen.
Soon the changelings all followed the guards, and Chrysalis was right there with them to be sure everything was going smoothly. Cadence however was still by the front door, touching her lips and blushing as she was still trying to catch up with what had just happened to her.
"Did I really do all that?" she asked herself with a blush, thinking of the kiss with Chrysalis. She blushed again thinking of the warmth she felt during the kiss, and how her magic just flowed freely for Chrysalis. Or should she say her love magic. Two certain sovereigns however were looking to the confused blushing Cadence.
"Do you think she will be all right sister?" Luna asked as her and Celestia stood inside not too far from the door.
"I honestly believe she will be. She might be recovering from how hot that kiss was."
"Sister, you know she's your niece correct?"
"Yes but it was still hot. Now come on, I must see where my new hunting grounds are."
"Hunting grounds?"
"You know, where the changelings are staying. After all there's five hundred new girls in the castle" Luna groaned as she followed her sister through the halls of the castle.
After a few moments of trying to figure out what had just happened to herself, Cadence finally pulled herself together and shook her head.
"I-I can't let this get to me. S-she's just trying to get to me!" she told herself as she walked back into the castle. Cadence was going to return to her own chambers, though stopped however when she saw the Queen. Chrysalis had been with her people and was guiding them to their temporary home, which happened to be an entire section of the castle. Cadence recalled this was the guest wing for when other nations visited, though now was used for the Changelings. The guest wing consisted of 100 bedrooms so its was split up so five changelings would stay in one room. Cadence however was focused on Chrysalis as she walked and guided her people to their rooms.
"Don't worry, this is only a temporary stay" Chrysalis could be heard assuring her people. The love princess however was impressed as she watched Chrysalis go from room to room, not leaving a single changeling out as she talked to them and asked if they needed anything. Chrysalis however had spotted Cadence, and stopped what she was doing to go to her. "Hello again my blushing bride" the changeling teased and Cadence just rolled her eyes this time.
"Hello Chrysalis, so how are they? I mean, how do they like the arrangements? Are they in need of anything?" Cadence asked as she looked into one of the rooms, the changelings looking back curiously to her.
"They seem to be fine. Though a little cramped, but that is only a minor issue. However they don't know who their new Princess will be" Chrysalis smiled as she moved next to Cadence, wrapping an arm around her waist.
"E-Eh? H-Hey! W-What are you doing?!" Cadence blurted out and blushed as she felt herself pulled into one of the rooms.
"Moth, Mossflower, Chitin, Pupa, Dragonfly. This is Princess Cadence, my new bride and the lovely lady who provided you with the love you had earlier today" Chrysalis introduced Cadence to the five changeling women in the room.
"U-Um...H-Hello" Cadence waved with a blush, not really knowing what to do or say to them.
"Cadence here told me she wanted to come and meet the changelings since she will be marrying one, and wanted to answer any questions you all had for her."
"H-Huh?! B-But I never said any of that!"
"It was written all over your face, now ladies do you have any questions for Cadence? She'd love to answer them for you" the Queen smiled to Cadence, a certain smile that told her she better do this, or bad things could happen kinda smile.
"Y-Yes...I-I'd be glad to answer any questions you have" Cadence smiled to them, nervous about what was to come.
"Y-You never said we were going to all of the changelings rooms..." Cadence was exhausted. Not exactly physically exhausted, but mentally. She had spent hours of her day going from room to room with Chrysalis being introduced to the changelings and answering any and every question they had.
"Oh? Though we did and you actually got to meet my people, so was it a bad thing you met them all?" the Queen smirked as she walked with the exhausted Cadence. "It speaks of a ruler to actually meet their people, so I figured I'd make you look good as the new Princess."
"I understand, but you could have warned me" the changeling chuckled at the Princess's dismay.
"Yes but it wouldn't have been as fun seeing you fluster at their questions" Chrysalis teased once more. chrysalis had looked out one of the large decorative windows seeing it was indeed nighttime. "Though sadly my fun took up most of the day."
"I guess I'll be heading to bed then" Cadence turned to the window as well, though looked back to Chrysalis. The princess blushed as her new Queen was looking to her, looking right into her eyes. Without warning she felt her chin lifted by her hand and felt Chrysalis lean down and kiss her on the lips once more, blushing brightly as she kissed her the second time this day. It was shorter then the first though, but somehow sweeter to Cadence.
"Goodnight my bride, and rest well" the Queen then turned and walked to her own room provided to her. Cadence again stood there blushing as she registered the kiss, touching her lips with a blush.
"G-Goodnight..." she whispered and turned around herself starting to walk down the hall. As she did though, she stopped as she heard giggling and one of the doors to the changelings rooms opened. Walking out of the room was Princess Celestia with a changeling girl in each arm. "Auntie...really?" Celestia turned to Cadence and winked to her.
"You know I can't resist cuties like these girls" The Solar Monarch grinned as she walked with the girls to her own chambers, leaving Cadence behind to just roll her eyes.
The next day had arrived and Cadence prepared herself for a new day. She dressed herself comfortably and wore a royal outfit that was more flexible and practical. She smiled at her outfit choice and decided to go take on the day. Cadence had begun to walk down the hallway and began to walk past Luna's room until...
"GIVE US THY LOOT FROM THAT BOOTY!" Cadence just stopped as she heard the voice of her aunt, and knew she could just walk away.
"But then I'd have this nagging feeling of not knowing..." she sighed as she decided to take the chance and walk into her aunts room. "Aunt Luna? Is everything all right?" she asked stepping into her room.
"Ha Hah! Derpy did you see that?! Handsome Jack was no match for us!" Luna was sitting in front of her television with an Xbox 360 controller in her hand, and headset on her head. Luna turned to Cadence when she noticed her and smiled victoriously. "Yes Cadence! my new friend Derpy and I have beaten the challenge that is Handsome Jack in this videogame that is Borderlands 2!" Luna said proudly.
"It's not over yet Luna, there's more than just Handsome Jack!" a voice came from the television, and on screen a large creature appeared on screen appearing to be made of lava.
"By Celestia's beard! Derpy summon your ally Deathtrap! I'm going to see if I can phase blast that large lava monster! HAVE AT THEE!" Luna called out as she got back into her game.
"Um...who's Derpy? Is that who you're talking too?" Cadence asked genuinely curious.
"Yes! I met her when playing last night and we started back up playing this morning. I've set it up so her voice comes out of the TV when she talks. Derpy my niece Cadence is here! Say hi!"
"Hi there! Luna watch the tail!" Derpy called out and Luna's character seemed to be sent flying through the air.
"Cadence I'll talk to you later, right now Derpy and I must complete this game! NOW MAGMA MONSTER GIVE US THY LOOT FROM THAT BOOTY!" Luna called out again as she continued playing.
"O-O...k" Cadence said as she turned around and began to walk out.
"SWIGGITY SWOOGITY I'M COMING FOR THAT BOOTY!" Cadence heard Luna call out as she walked out of the room, just stopping to comprehend what had just happened with her aunt.
Cadence had headed into the kitchen and made her own breakfast, going back to the table to and sitting down to eat her meal.
"Good morning" a certain changeling called out as she sat down at the table with her, with her own plate of food that just consisted of vegetables.
"Oh um...morning" The princess looked up but went back to eating as Chrysalis sat down.
"Is it just me or did I hear your aunt earlier this morning say 'BEHOLD! LOOT FROM THE MAGMA BOOTY'?" Chrysalis asked raising an eyebrow.
"You probably did. Apparently she has picked up video games recently as a hobby" Cadence said as she began to eat her breakfast consisting of bacon and eggs.
"Videogames?" the changeling ask tilting her head.
"Yeah, they're games people can play on the television basically. I guess it's something changelings didn't have?" Cadence inquired, and Chrysalis smiled.
"Interesting, and no we didn't. A television was rare for us" Chrysalis smiled as she ate her salad. Cadence however was the curious one looking to Chrysalis.
"Um...didn't you eat yesterday with the love I provided? I-I'm just curious cause I remember changelings live off of love correct?" Cadence asked genuinely curious.
"Yes, but we can enjoy other things as well silly princess" Chrysalis teased. "We survive off of love but we can eat other things as well. We mostly have a diet of vegetables outside of love of course" Chrysalis answered as she ate.
"Oh, I didn't know..." Cadence went back to eating, though as she continued she felt more questions brimming and sighed giving in. "Chrysalis I know very little of the changeling race. And I know very little of you, yet I'm supposed to marry you. Can you tell me more about yourself and your people?" Chrysalis was honestly taken back, but smiled nodding her head.
"Anything for my cute blushing bride. So, what would you like to know?"
"Well, tell me about the changelings. How did you acquire love before?" Cadence began looking to Chrysalis.
"Well, changelings before would sneak into your lands and look for people in love. Young lovers were the best targets honestly. You see we changelings have an innate ability to sense love, and with your kind in love we can see of the two in a relationship, who has more love for the other" Chrysalis explained.
"Do you mean as in who is in more love with the other person?" Cadence asked.
"Yes, then we would take the place of the one who received more love from their partner and collect it. Usually we'd knock out and hide the person we take the place of" Chrysalis admitted. "Then after they collect a sufficient amount of love, we then leave to bring it back for the hive to harvest."
"And then spread out what you could among your people?" Chrysalis nodded. "Then what exactly caused the shortage of love in the first place?" Chrysalis sighed as she heard this question.
"YOur people caught on to us. They found new ways to sense if we were harvesting love from them. Not to mention some of the changelings were a bit more radical and killed those they replace" Chrysalis admitted. "This eventually lead to conflicts hundreds of years ago between your people and mine, eventually leading to us being forced to stay in the Badlands. What ultimately did it was the disease that killed our men" the Queen slowly went back to eating as Cadence looked to her.
"I-I'm sorry..."
"You didn't cause it, and there was nothing we could have done about it. What's past is past and now my concern is for the rest of my people who are still alive" the changeling said looking to Cadence. The Princess honestly felt a new admiration for Chrysalis, seeing she had a love and passion for her people.
"Chrysalis...tell me about you...I wanna know more about who you are." Chrysalis looked to the younger Princess and smiled.
"We could be here a while cutie" Chrysalis warned her.
"That's fine, I have the time" Cadence assured her. The queen looked to Cadence seeing she was determined to get to know her, so she relaxed and began her story.
"I became queen when I was 18 years old, six hundred years ago after my mother Queen Polymorph..."
