Vinyl Scratch yelled so loud it caused the entire house to shake. Vinyl's brother opened his eyes and pulled out his earphones. "What?" "Dinnertime." "But i'm listening to Grill X, the most popular Wubstep DJ ever!" "Don't care. Come eat." Sighing, Bass Drop got up to his hooves and trotted downstairs with his younger sister. Octavia was setting the table, a very sour look on her face. Bass began to blush furiously at the sight of her. Vinyl kicked him lightly, then sat down. Record Label hummed to herself as she walked into the dining room. She set down a plate of cooked whole potatoes and a bowl of fresh green salad that see had been levitating. "Replay's gone out to Sugar Cube Corner," she said, "we thought we should have a nice treat." Vinyl nodded. "We're done!!!" Vinyl Scratch's twin sisters shouted in unison. Remix, who was a pegasus, was flying just above her unicorn sister, tying a bright red bow around a piece of parchment. Using her magic, Shuffle levitated the parchment and the pair ran towards Octavia, who had just finished setting the table. "Oof!" she said, as the fillies collided with her. "Oops, sorry!" Remix said, landing back onto the floor. Shuffle handed Octavia the parchment. Both fillies smiled widely as Vinyl Scratch's roommate carefully slid the bow off and onto the table and opened the parchment. She gave the sisters a wide grin as she hugged them tightly. "I'm going to hang it up on my wall, right above my bed," she said. "Uh-uh, I can help you with that!" Bass Drop said, giving Octavia a meek smile. Vinyl rolled her eyes and Octavia told him thank you. She handed him the parchment and some thumbtacks, and trotted up the stairs, Bass close behind her. "Ah, Replay, you're back! What cake did you get?" Vinyl's mother asked, as her father walked into the room balancing two boxes on each of his wings. "Well," he said, "I got strawberry shortcake for the girls and a chocolate lava cake for the adults." "Yum," Record Label said, giving her husband a light peck on the cheek as he headed into the kitchen. "Alright everypony, supper's ready!" //-------------------------------------------------------// The Arrival //-------------------------------------------------------// The Arrival BANG, BANG, BANG. The sound of hooves pounding on the door was not heard over the sound of Vinyl Scratch washing dishes with her 'wubs'. She bobbed her head up and down to the music, smiling widely. BAM! The front door swung open. Vinyl stopped the dishwasher and poked her head out of the kitchen doorway. "Uh, hello?" "Vinyl, dear, how good to see you!" Vinyl froze.She pushed her sunglasses up and off her face. "Mom!?" she said, as her mother, father, brother and twin sisters trotted into the living room. "Hiya sis!" Remix and Shuffle, her filly twin sisters, pounced on her. They hugged her so hard that Vinyl Scratch was gasping for breath. "W-what are you guys doing here!?" Vinyl asked, wide-eyed. Her mother, Record Label, smiled. "It's family reunion time, remember?" Record pointed a hoof at the suitcases next to Vinyl's father, Replay Button. Vinyl's mouth formed a perfect O. "Wait, we don't have any rooms here, where will you be-" Record Label interrupted her. "We've got it all sorted out, Vinyl. Remix and Shuffle will stay in your room. Replay and I will sleep in the living room." "Well, what about Octavia?" "We were thinking maybe you and your brother would stay with her," Record said. Vinyl glared at her older brother, Bass Drop. Just then, Octavia Philharmonica, Vinyl Scratch's best friend and roommate, trotted into the living room. Her cello fell to the ground as she stared in awe at the group in front of her. Bass Drop began blushing a deep crimson as he nearly fell over. "V-Vinyl, what's going on?" Octavia asked. Record Label trotted over to Octavia and held out a hoof. "I'm Record Label,Vinyl's Scratch's mother. This is Replay Button," she said, motioning towards her husband. Replay waved and smiled. When Record introduced the twins, Octavia gave a weak smile to them, which they returned with a wide grin. "I-i'm Bass D-Drop," Vinyl's brother stuttered, blushing even more, if that was even possible. Octavia gave him a curt nod, then turned her attention back to Record Label. "So, what are you doing here?" "Family reunion, didn't Vinyl tell you?" Octavia shook her head and glared at Vinyl Scratch. "Where will you be staying, and how long, exactly?" "Here, we thought maybe Vinyl, Bass Drop and you would stay in your room, the girls would stay in Vinyl's room, and Replay and I would sleep in here. We should be here for about a week, or two." Octavia sighed. "Alright, but I am NOT going to permit any music that is Wubstep, alright?" The Scratch family nodded, but Vinyl looked like she was about to cry. "No wubs?" "No wubs." With that, everypony headed upstairs to settle down, except for Record Label and Replay Button. "This seems like it will be fun," Record said, beginning to unpack all of their things. //-------------------------------------------------------// Octavia's Boyfriend //-------------------------------------------------------// Octavia's Boyfriend BAM, BAM , BAM. The chatter ceased. "I'll get it," Bass Drop said, walking to the door. He swung it open. "Octie, darling, I love-" The stallion at the door dropped his bouquet. He stared at Bass. The stallions both began blushing, and Octavia stood up. "D-Doc?" she said. The brown stallion gazed at her. "Hi, Octie." Octavia pushed Bass out of the way and began furiously whispering to Doctor Whooves. "What are you doing here!?" "I-I thought i'd surprise you-" "Vinyl's whole family is here! You need to leave!" "But-" Record Label got up from her seat and walked over to the quarreling pair. She held out a hoof to Doc. "Hello. My name is Record Label, and i'm Vinyl's mother. You are?" Doc shook her hoof nervously. "Doc," he replied, "Octavia's...boyfriend." Record Label smiled wider than Doc had ever seen a pony smile. "Splendid! Please come in, we'll pull up another chair." "O-okay..." Bass Drop, who had returned to his seat, said nothing as Doc was seated next to him. "Hello. I'm Replay Button." Replay held out a hoof and Doc shook it, introducing himself. After everypony resumed eating, Shuffle asked, "Hey Doc guy! Do you have a job?" "Uh-uh, yeah?" Doc looked extremely nervous. "What is it?" Remix asked. "Uh-um," "It's for the Princesses. It's top secret, so don't ask anymore," Octavia said. Doctor sighed and gave his girlfriend an appreciative glance. The twins smiled and nodded. "So, how long have you two been together?" Doc seemed like that question would make him explode if he answered. "Uh, bathroom!" he shouted, and raced out the door. "He poops outside?" Remix asked. "No!" Octavia snapped, as she ran after him. Everypony heard a crunch as she stepped on the bouquet. "Vinyl, why are you being so quiet?" Replay asked, eyes still on the door. Vinyl let out a loud snore in reply. "Oh, not again," Record moaned. It took a lot of effort to wake up Vinyl. Replay was prepared, though. "Girls, cover your ears. Bass Drop, do it." Bass smiled deviously. He trotted upstairs and returned moments later with two small speakers dangling from his mouth. He plugged his MP3 player into the speakers and turned the volume to loudest setting. He pushed a few buttons on his MP3, and plugged his own ears. "YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The scream was deafening, but it worked. Vinyl Scratch jumped up and immediately began bobbing her head. This was one of her favorite Wubstep songs. Before she could start singing along, though, Bass Drop unplugged his MP3 player. "Hey man, you killed the wubs!" Vinyl said. "Yeah." "Never kill my wubs." THE END
