//-------------------------------------------------------// Fallout Equestria: I Forgot to Remember -by Blake Winter- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Introduction //-------------------------------------------------------// Introduction Introduction Equestria was once a prospering land filled to the brim with friendship and happiness. Then there came an era of war, death, greed, and suffering. With the worlds natural resources fading, Equestria and the Zebra Empire fought countless years over the remaining and eventually...they wiped each other out. Megaspell upon megaspell, bullet after bullet, death after death, the world was plunged into a quiet darkness for over 200 years. The survivors of The Great War, be it ghoul or Stable Dweller, re-entered the husk of what was left. Yet, as some thought, it was not the end of the world. It was only a new chapter of bloody history because... War...war never changes... //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 ...I jumped up into a sitting position, groaning as the pain in my lungs grew. I looked around the room as my eyes adjusted to the dim light. It was an old run down apartment in what I assumed to be Canterlot, given the faded paintings on the wall and the overall look to the decor. Along with the usual furnishings I saw medical equipment and a small portable terminal. I tried to stand but the ache in my joints and the pain in my lungs wouldn't allow me to. I felt a weight on my left arm and looked down to see a personal computer strapped to it. Also known as a Pip-Buck. I opened to the Status/CND screen and looked over my 'wounds'. Minor radiation and 'Pink Cloud Poisoning'. Whatever that is it isn't good for my lungs... "Oh wunderbar you're awake!" I nearly gave myself whiplash turning to the voice behind me. Somehow I didn't notice the gryphon standing behind me. I tried to respond but instead I just coughed blood all over the floor. Fan-fucking-tastic. The gryphon helped my to my hooves. She was wearing a doctor's coat of some kind with a symbol that stood out to me for some reason... three pink butterflies... "You alright?" I coughed more blood, mostly on her chest. "I assume that's a yes?" She chuckled "Sorry, that's inappropriate. The Pink Cloud should be flushed from your system in a few hours at the most. Hopefully...this cure is still in testing..."  'Cure in testing'? Yeah. That's reassuring. I coughed a few more times and cleared my throat. "Thank you, I suppose..." my voice was raspy and low, like someone who smoked like a chimney their entire life. The gryphon handed me a glass of slightly brown water that I grabbed and chugged involuntarily. She took the glass back and smiled. "I'm Medic, from the writing on your armor I can assume you are Queenston Winter?" I nodded, strangly remembering that my name was, in fact, Spymaster Queenston Embara Winter. Huh. Other than that I can't really remember anything else... I responded, trying not to sound rude, being that I was just kind of staring at her. "Pleased to meet you...uh Medic... Thanks for, I guess saving me? Could you actually tell me were you found me? And what's this 'Pink Cloud'?" I sat on the couch and she took a seat on a dirty recliner. "I found you on the road to the Palace. Goddesses know what you were doing there, so I pulled you out of The Cloud and brought you back here, being that you were a perfect candidate for my 'cure' for the Pink Cloud." she paused, presumably thinking of an answer for my second question. "As for the Pink Cloud...no one really knows. All the Followers know about it is that if inhaled or if it comes into contact with open wounds it floods the entire body, slowly turning the 'host', so to speak, into what we call a Canterlot Ghoul...." She paused and looked at me. She then continued explaining, noticing my confused face. "A ghoul is a...someone who has been irradiated an unholy amount and haven't had the good fortune to die...as far as I know most are still able to reason but some...well, some have gone feral and attack anyone on sight..." she grimaced, obviously uncomfortable about the subject. She went to her computer and began typing. I continued to fiddle with my Pip-Buck. I opened the 'Items' menu and went to apparel. The only slot with stuff in it other than Misc. There were four items, Lunar Ranger Armour, Moonstone Wedding Band, Mother's Locket, and a Breathing Mask. I looked at my right hoof and sure enough, there was a grayish band around it. Around my neck was the breathing mask and the locket. Inside was a picture of a mare and what I could only assume was a dragon. I shrugged and opened the Misc tab and it said that I had a Spellbook, a Keyring, and two Air Filters. I looked in the pockets of the trench coat, part of the 'Lunar Rangers Armour' and as I thought, I had all those things in them, except the Keyring was clipped to my belt. I went through a couple other menus, according to the General tab on the Status/CND screen I had 'Neutral Karma'. Ignoring that, I went to the info screen. World Map was automatically open. I was currently at 'Medic's Canterlot Hideout' and pretty close to The Royal Palace. I stood up and went to 'Medic'. "Did I..have anything else with me? I feel kind of...bare..." She spun her swivel-chair around to face me. "Yes, actually, but I couldn't hold my breath for long enough to grab it. A big duffle bag and a sniper rifle if I remember correctly, this was a few days ago..." "Is it possible for me to get it?" I questioned her, she sighed and rose from the chair. "Probably not, I'm afraid. It was in a very dense pocket of the cloud and I do not currently have enough of the Cure to save you a second time..." She went back to typing. I returned to the couch and opened the radio tab on my Pip-Buck and selected the first station, 'Galaxy News Radio'. A gruff voice of a stallion came through the Pip-Buck's speaker. "Helloooo Equestrian Wasteland! It's me, DJ-Pon3 bringing you a bit news! Now, children, you all know about the Stables, right? Oh course you do. Now there has been reports of a two mares leaving Stable 2 in the past few days and it seems that Dweller #2 has cleared the entirety of the Ponyville Raider outpost. Good on ya Stable Dweller. In other news, the slave caravan and notorious dickbags, the Bloodmoon Slavers, took over another shanty town. I'll say what I did yesterday, he Regulators and paying loads of caps to anyone who can bring them the head of their leader. I'd like to see her brought down, too many good ponies were lost because of that bitch. And now, here's a little tune I've got stuck in my head..." The voice faded and a very upbeat song about Whisky began playing. Medic started humming along to it. I let myself drift back to unconsciousness. I woke up to find that Medic had left a note for me. 'I went out for a shopping trip, be back soon. ~Medic'         Well then, might as well go out as well. I rose from the couch and opened the door of the apartment. The building was, bluntly, a pile of shit. Furniture broken and charred, wallpaper ripped and faded, pictures ruined or had some offensive drawings on them. A over Medic's door was a Clinic sign that probably once belonged to an actual clinic. I went down a flight of stairs to the main entrance and opened the double doors outside to the city. "What the fu..." My heart sank. This is not how I remember Canterlot... Even in the fuzziness of that memory. It's supposed to be a big bustling happy place, not a pile of rubble and...skeletons...I walked down a random street. Everywhere I looked, there were skeletons. Some charred, some broken, some wrapped around each other and more lying on benches. I blinked and all of the skeletons turned into to...ponies? They were...walking around, not even acknowledging that I was there. One came close to me and disappeared...along with the rest of the living ponies. The skeletons returned....I decided to fuck it and went back to the 'Clinic'. I fell onto the couch and tried to sleep... //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2        I awoke from my shroud of darkness to the door slamming. I looked over the couch expecting to see Medic, but instead there were a few things on the dining table. I rose from the couch to check it put. A satchel, ammo box, med box, and three firearms; A revolver, handgun and a giant fucking sniper rifle. I forgot about everything else and drew my full attention to the AMR in my hooves. .50BMG ammunition, Synthetic CF parts, suppressor, bipod,  variable zoom... Bloody hell this is a beautiful gun. Upon further admiration of the rifle I noticed something carved into the barrel. 'Wer Annyo Youwe Wux Nurti Ocuira. Huh. I shrugged off the strange language and slung the rifle onto my back. I searched through the satchel, nothing big just a few faded photographs, .44 Speed loaders, a couple .45 magazines. I put the satchel around my neck and looked at the last two items. Two handguns, .44 Revolver and a .45 pistol as well. The .44 was overly decorated, the grip was made out of a synthetic black material and the barrel had a dragon carved into it, wrapped around the barrel with the head ending around the end. The .45 was just the same. Around the barrel was a dragon, wrapped around it, grip the same black synthetic material. Along with the two handguns there were two holsters. I hooked them up to my belt and went to the apartment's door. I opened it and peeked out, nopony in sight. It looked just as it did the last time I went out. I stepped out and closed the door of Medic's apartment. I took a few steps down the stairs to the lobby "Medic? You there?" I yelled down the stairs, there were a few shuffles and grumbles below. I walked into the lobby and was immediately jumped by a....I could only describe it as a decaying corpse but...still living, it tried to bite at my muzzle. I flung the corpse off of me and telepathically pulled the .45 out of it's holster and put 3 rounds into the head of the...thing. I blinked a couple times. I'm a unicorn? No...wait I can feel wings, or at least a wing....I shook my head and took a few cautious steps towards the corpse, pleading that it was just a corpse now. It wasn't moving. I heard my Pip-Buck start ticking. Geiger Counter of course, I leaped back not wanting to get anymore irradiated than my Pip-Buck already said I was. "Oi! Oi! Who the hell is shooting up my place!" I heard Medic shout as she burst through the doors, SMG in claw. She at me with a concerned expression. "Oh, Queenston it's you. Are you alright? I heard gunshots." she walked over to me and cringed at the sight of the corpse. "Ghoul. Why the hell is a non-Canterlot ghoul this far in? He looks a bit...fresh too." She cringes and grabs the corpse, dragging it into the street were she lights it ablaze. I stayed back in the building, checking out my extra appendages. Horn? Yup, that's a horn alright. Wings? ...wing. I only have one wing and is seems to be either draconic or bat-like. Huh. Medic broke my concentration when she tapped me on the shoulder. W"Hey Queenston, I'll be in the room if you need me." I nodded and went outside. Same destroyed city, same skelletons. I found a nearby bench and sat down. I opened my Pip-Buck and went to the 'Quest' tab. There were three things; Help Medic Rediscover your past Locate your Duffle Bag Well, that's something to do. I switched through some of the other tabs, trying to find something beside Info, notes, or Holotape recordings. I opened a tab titled 'Settings' and looked through it. 'E.F.S' was switched to off. I pressed on and a little purple mare popped up in the corner of my vision. "Eyes Forward Sparkle activated! Okay? I blinked a couple times and two bars appeared on the left and right. The left one said HP and the left said AP. Under the AP bar was CND and a white bar. I blinked again in confusion and a compass appeared under the HP bar. There was a green tick to the east and a orange triangle to the north. I stood up and started walking towards the tick mark. I walked a good few meters before I saw something. A grey mare with crossed eyes popped up in the corner... Is that a filly in a...radiation suit? I probably was making a stupid face because the filly trotted up to me and said "Heya Mister! My names Puppysmiles! Why are you makin' that weird face?" "Uh...I-" "I'm lookin' for my Mom! Have you seen her? "Er...no I haven't uh... Puppysmiles..." I felt really stupid saying the word 'Puppysmiles'. "Awwwww! No pony has seen her!" The filly trotted off in angeneral direction and the tick mark disappeared. "....What?" //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 "Hellloo! Dj-Pon3 here with some news! Now, I don't if any pony knows about The Spymaster's Tower, but if you ever go anywhere near Canterlot, Celestia knows why, look upwards and you might see a perfectly stable and undamaged tower rising abound the other buildings near the Palace. It might be a scavenger's paradise in there, if you're willing to go through Cloud, Ghoulies, and who knows what. Anyway, here's some music. It's Sweetie Be-" I switched off the radio and looked around. Where the hell did that filly go? I've walked at least a mile and I haven't seen a trace of her. I gave up and started walking back to Medic's place. Not two minutes later was the sound of a gunshot. I involuntarily slung the AMR off my back, not realizing that using my magic to fire the Rifle would probably result in it being flung into the nearby Galaxy. There was a shriek from a what I assumed was a mare and more gunshots. I went to where the gunshots were loudest, which happened to be an old office building. I slowly opened the door and peered inside. There was a beep and a laser shot down the hallway, just clipping a bit off my mane. I leaped away from the door. I put the AMR onto my back and took a deep breath. This is a stupid idea. I swung open the doors and sprinted through the hallway, spewing profanity all the way. This was a stupid idea! I leapt into a broom closet just in front of the turret. It beeped a couple of times and went silent. I didn't risk popping my head out, as it would probably be taken off. I thought over my options, jump out and shoot it in the face, run past and have the chance of being singed in the rear, or sit here until I think of something a little smarter. "Well, fuck it." I flung open the door, took out my .44 and put 5 rou- no wait, 7. Six? Whatever, into the turret. It exploded into a collection of shrapnel and wires. Just as I expected, somepony came running down the hallway. I couldn't tell if the pony was a mare or stallion, he/she was wearing a mask. They charged at me with a shotgun, screaming something inaudible. My eyes went wide when he/she shoved the barrel of their scattershot into my Adam's apple. ""Soooo, little colt got lost? Didn't know somepony had this place for their own, huh? Thought that turret there was just left over from the war? Ha! Well little colt, you best listen to what I say or your brains are gonna be a new mural!" I nodded response. From their voice I could tell that the pony was defiantly female, if a little raspy. She turned around, shotgun still floating below my chin. She gestured for my to follow, I did, again, I like my head intact. As we walked I got the chance to look at the mare closer. She was wearing some sort of make-shift armour made from what appeared to be sheet metal with spikes dented in. Aside from the few plates on her flanks, her shoulder and her hoof, she was rather bare. The only other thing was bloodied bandages and a few straps. Her hood was made of....skin? Yep. Stitched together skin. It even had a real mane stuck on. How lovely. The more I looked at her I noticed that she was way too skinny to be healthy, I guess the scars and enter/exit wounds aren't so good either. She stopped and sniffed the air. For a moment he stood there in silence. "C'mon little Colt." We went up a flight of stairs and into what I think is he Recreational Room. Mattresses were set up with a beautiful corpse tied to each one. I nearly vomited at the sight. The mare spun around and shoved the shotgun deeper into my throat. I heard a small *click* and released a breath I didn't know I was holding. "Oh that's just grand! You should have seen your face!" "What the fuck was that! You scared the living shit out of me!" The mare laughed at a deafening level, tossing the empty shotgun to the side. I politely knicked the weapon, putting on my back. It was a simple semi-auto, not even a drum mag. The mare turned around and threw a peice of meat at me. "Eat up little colt. You'll need it." I crindged at the flesh inform of me. It wasn't even cooked! I was hungry though, and I suppose these pointy teeth of mine aren't for nothing. I took a big chunk out of the hunk of meat, it was...surprisingly tasty! Once I finished my little snack I went over to the mare who seemed to be tapping away at a terminal. "So, crazy mare who I thought was going to blow my head off, what's your name? And more importantly what's with the corpses?" She grunted at turned to me. "What are you? A Vaulty? Don't look like one... Well, I'm a Raider, names Point Blank. I have those corpses so if anypony ever finds my little home, they run the fuck out." I responded with a flat 'Oh, okay'. I began to walk away when I felt a hoof in my shoulder. "Where do you think you're going little colt? Think you can just leave without saying goodbye to your new friend?" "Friends know each other's name." "You know mine. So, why not tell me yours?" "Queenston." She stood up and gave me a pat on the back. "Well Queenston, let's go somewhere and wreck havoc!" //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" I yelled as a laser put a hole my ear. What did I do!? Why are suited up ponies shooting at me!? I realized that none of those questions would have answers anytime soon. There were three blasts from a shotgun, I looked back to find the three ponies lying in a puddle of their own gore. Oh good, now all I have to do is get some metal things and I get a free ear piercing.  I cringed at the gore-puddle slowly seeping towards my hooves. Poor bastards. I waved for Point Blank to follow. "Who were those guys?" I asked Point Blank, all I knew about them is that they had fancy hats and trench coats, I reluctantly looted their ammo and Meds. How can Point Blank do this for a living? It's terrible! "Regulators, they're out to get any raider they can get their hooves on, good money but I couldn't stand to be a 'good guy'". She slung her shogun onto her back and cracked her neck. "So, where we headin'?. "To Medic's I guess. Nowhere else to go." I started walking towards the transparent marker on my Compass. '27m away'. Oh good, not that far. While we walked I heard crunches under my hooves. Bones. Oh Godesses I'm stepping on dead Ponies. I shuddered, thinking of what kind of ponies the bones belonged to. They could have been simple office workers, even just a janitor...some of them could be foals... No, no, no, don't think like that.... I lost my train of though when I hit my muzzle on a set of double doors. I took a step back and looked 'Neighmaker Hotel'. I never looked at the name of the building that Medic called her 'Hideout'. Neighmaker....why does that sound familiar? Oh well, I swung open the doors and yelled "Honey I'm hooooome!" I heard a door slam and the sound of claws and paws on wood. "Queenston?! Bloody hell I was worried sick! I thought you went and died! And who the hell is this?! A raider?! Point Blank waved "Where'd you get those guns too? Never mind I don't even care, get in the Clinic. Now." We followed Medic to the Clinic. I was actually slightly terrified. I understand that she was worried but this is ridiculous, who is she? My mother? Once we got inside Medic took P. Blank's shotgun, I swear, I think she sniffled a little. I sat on Medic's couch, P. Blanks chose to stand. "Okay, so you're okay? Nothing bad happened?" I told her that I was fine, just the new hole in my ear. Thank The Goddesses that it was lasers, automatically cauterized, only stings for a little... Point Blank introduced herself, Medic made it clear that I were to keep her on a 'short leash'. Literally. She gave me a leash, out it on P. Blank, and told me to keep a close eye on her. At least an hour later we heard a knock on the door. Medic rose from the dining table and answered it. "Welcome to my Clinic, how can I he-" She was cut off as the butt of a rifle connected with her face. I kicked my chair away and nearly sprinted over to her. In the doorway stood a pony, wearing black and red combat armour with what appeared to be a crescent moon on the breast plate. "Well, well, well, looks like our Gryphon got 'erself a buddy!" The stallion gave Medic a kick in the ribs. I used all of my strength not to straight up break his spine. "Bit lonely are ye? Looking for somepony to fill that gap in ye chest? Well, I know who can fill that reaaaall good..." I didn't like the sound of that. "O-oh, Mo-moriarty, I-I didn't think I'd be s-seeing you again!" Medic let out a hacking cough, did that fucker break her ribs? "You really thought that you could get away from us? The Bloodmoon Slavers don't let go of our catches too easily, lass. Gryphons are REAL valuable ye know?" Wait. Bloodmoon Slavers? Shit. That guy on the radio said something about them. Why the hell would they know who Medic is? I went to help Medic to her feet but instead I got a good solid buck to the face. I saw Point Blank rise from the table and unsheathe her machete. Medic and I scooted away from the door, P. Blank leap into 'Moriarty', getting a good slice into his shoulder. He didn't even have time to recover, her machete collided with his face. I expected her to stop right then but she kept wailing on him, blood covering herself. ""By the Goddess! Moriarty!" Oh, of course he has friends. I got Medic onto the couch while P. Blank went to 'work' on the Slavers. When she got back she was covered in blood, she dropped the machete and fell to the ground. "Holy fuck I'm tired." //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue - The Last Day //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue - The Last Day        Cloudsdayle has been hit and the Pegasi are leaving the War effort. That's the first thing that came out of Luna's mouth when she entered the Tower. Cloudsdayle is destroyed and the Pegasi are abandoning us.. We stood in silence, looking through my observation window. The voice of Midnight Crescent came from the portable radio on Luna's hip. "Splendid Valley is hit..." there was a short pause. "Fuck, Manehattan is down..." Luna turned the radio off and hugged me. "Queenston...the war is over. We can't do anything to prevent this. Equestria will fall..." "We have to do something. We can't just lay down and die either. Celestia said something about creating a barrier around Canterlot to stop any missiles from hitting." Just as I finished my sentence, a yellow hue surrounded the city. I let out a deep sigh. "Shall we join her for the end?" We made our way to Clestia as quickly as we possible could without tripping over each other. Clestia was sweating furiously and her horn was glowing brighter than the sun itself, Luna ran over and combined her magic with Celestia's. He yellow turned to a strange green. The bombs fell for hours, the Princesses seemed to be getting weaker by the second. I quickly ran over to keep them on their feet. Midnight Cresent burst through the Palace doors and nearly blew my ears out. "The zebras got in and they set off some kind of poison bomb and it's killing ponies by the dozen. You have to lower the shield so everyone can evacuate!" We didn't answer. Celestia and Luna didn't lower the shield. I saw pink mist seep under the doors. And float over to us, Midnight was blocking the doors so she got the most of it and began coughing. She put a chair infront of the door and joined us . The pink mist reached us and Midnight began coughing more. Soon, the Princesses did the same, as well as me. I lost track of time...it could have been hours...days? Possibly even months...I felt Luna stop breathing. I checked her pulse...dead... Well, I guess she doesn't have to suffer any longer.... "Queenston... I'm leaving..." I heard Celestia mutter. I tried to stop her but she walked out of the palace and took flight. I stumbled over to the doors and outside. Bombs rained down onto Canterlot. I collapsed to the floor and closed my eyes. I fell into a dreamless sleep...
