"What did you want to talk about Pinkie?" Cheese asked as he entered the closed bakery. He wore a big smile. It was dark, and Cheese had just returned from one of his parties.
Pinkie sighed and looked at her coltfriend with sad eyes. His smiled faded immediately.
"W-what's wrong?" Cheese asked.
Pinkie walked over and clamped her teeth down on a deflated pink balloon that nested in his afro-like mane. She pulled it out and spat in onto the floor.
She let out a huff. "I can't do this." Is all she said.
"Do what....?" Cheese asked with a worried expression.
"This. Our relationship." Pinkie said. "I can't do it anymore."
"What?" Cheese asked as his pupils dilated.
"I love you.... I really do," Pinkie said. "But if you're going to leave town every day... It's not even a relationship,"
Cheese didn't say anything.
"It breaks my heart when you leave, knowing I can't leave Ponyville behind to go to another party every day with you," She continued.
"What are you saying?" Cheese asked.
"What I'm saying... Is that if we can barely see each other, than there might as well not be a relationship." Pinkie said as her ears bent back.
"B-but, I still love you!" Cheese cried.
"I still love you too," Pinkie said. "But... I don't like long distance relationships... It's too hard for me to see them often." As tears welled up in her eyes, she finished. "I'm sorry Cheese..... I'm really sorry."
Cheese looked down. "Can I have one more kiss?"
Pinkie sighed and moved closer to Cheese. She craned her neck up and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Goodbye, Cheese Sandwich," She said as she bowed her head in sorrow. Tears streamed down her face.
Cheese gave one look at Pinkie for putting on his poncho and hat, and exiting the shop.
Pinkie lazily wiped the tables with zero energy. Her mane hung almost straight against her neck.
Ever since the break off with Cheese, she hadn't been feeling herself. Her friends tried to cheer her up, but there was no going back.
Thunder rumbled outside, and soon after, pain patterned against the window.
I could play with you,
Pinkie sighed. It was too late to find him. He could've been anywhere in Equestria by now, probably partying and having fun. Too bad she hadn't had a party yet. It brought back too many bad memories.
She sighed and moved up the stairs. Pinkie walked into her room and got into bed. She pulled her covers up to her chin and closed her eyes.
"Goodnight Cheese.... Wherever you are...."
~~~~~~~~~~
Pinkie woke up with a dry mouth. Her breathing was heavy, and her body felt cold.
She jumped out of her bed and slowly made her way to the stairs to get a glass of water.
Her hoof steps echoed through the sleeping house, hoping that she wouldn't wake up her guardians.
She filled up her glass and downed it in a second. She looked out the window at the full moon and the stars that surrounded it.
Outside, a lone pony stepped through the puddles. Thunder rumbled through the air, light rain pattering on his coat.
He looked up so the edge of hat wasn't in his way. In the middle of his view, there stood the building that seemed to resemble a gingerbread house. A lone light dimly lit a window by the door.
He picked up his pace, the water now splashing up to his chest. His hooves felt numb, but he didn't care, for he had traveled far, just to see her.
Pinkie's ears perked up as three knocks on the door echoed through the building.
Who could that be....?
Pinkie started towards the door as more knocks sounded out.
Her hoof slowly reached for the door. She wrapped her hoof around the handle and pulled, stepping back at the same time.
She opened her mouth to say something about how the shop was closed, but no sound came out. Her mouth only opened farther.
"Ch-Ch-" Her eyes welled up with tears. Cheese threw his poncho and hat off.
All was quiet as Cheese shot across the room. He swept Pinkie off of the ground and into his hooves as he pressed his lips against hers, her mane fluffing back up to its normal size.
The kiss lasted about five seconds before the parted, their faces staying close.
"Heh," Pinkie smiled, her hot breath tickling his nose. "What's with you and coming to my house at night...?"
"I couldn't wait until morning..." Cheese smiled and closed
"I-I-" She bursted into tears.
"Shhhh...." Cheese whispered.
"But how could you come back?" Pinkie asked. "After I broke your heart?"
"My heart?" Cheese chuckled. "I'd say you broke your own heart!" She buried her face into his chest.
"I-I'm so sorry!" Pinkie sobbed. "I never meant for this to happen!"
"It's okay..." Cheese muttered.
"I still love you!" Pinkie cried. "But it's wrong..."
"It's not wrong, I can't party without you..." Cheese whispered in her ear. "....And if I can't party.... I might as well stay here..."
"You will?" Pinkie sniffed, her eyes shimmering from her tears
"Of course I will..." Cheese brushed a stray piece of mane out of Pinkie's mane. "I'd do anything for you... I realize that now... And I'm not letting you slip through my hooves again..."
"You're so sweet..." Pinkie craned her neck up and pecked him on the cheek.
Cheese frowned. "I admit it may be hard to piece things back together..." He said. "Things will never be the same, but we have to do our best..."
"I know, Cheesie, I know." Pinkie smiled.
"Do you know how much I've missed my nickname coming out of your mouth?" Cheese asked.
"I'm not the only one?" Pinkie smirked.
"Some sugar-high mares who thought they could win me over," He said. "But I knew my heart belonged to you..." He rubbed his nose with hers.
"I love you Cheese Sandwich,"
"I love you, Pinkamena Diane Pie."
"...How do you know my full name?"
"...I just know."
Author's Note
Well, that took longer to finish than I anticipated, but it's out! The first side story of There's Always An Afterwords. I know it's an alternate universe one, but more should be coming. I'm thinking of one with Trixie, and one (or more) with the CMC, so stay tuned, and remember that I'm taking a break from all of this all of next week so I'll try to get out another chapter of There's Always An Afterwords either right before next week or right at the beginning of the week after that... If that made any sense. But yeah. Heave a fandiddlytastic day everybody!
