The one that never was

Prologue

     It was a summer day like any other. Birds chirping a sweet melody, a cool summer's brease corresing the air, and the warmth of the bright radiant rays of the sun. Twilight was in her newly proclaimed castle accompanied by her loving friends and princess Celestia observing a new found object and book found within the old castle ruins.

"It says that the stones ability is to forever allow the tree of harmony to remain self sufficiant without corruption even if the elements of harmony are removed." That room was filled with a sudden gasp excluding that of Celestia who's expression was that of uncertainty. "It also states here that in order to use the stone, the power of the elements must be cast onto it."

"Are you sure that we can trust what this book says Twilight?" Celestia said with a look of worry growing in her face

"With all do respect your majesty... but the book and stone was found in you and Luna's old castle."

"Thats not entirely true Apple Jack. The artefacts were under the castle and before today we had no knowladge of their existence."

They all fixed their vision to the gem shaped stone with a yellowish aura emanating from its surface. Celestia gave a sigh before nodding her head in approval. The 6 friends gathered around the stone and began to use their new found ability to harness the power of the elements without their physical pressence, only by uniying the true powers of friendship. As the magical power began to grow... so did the brightness of the yellow stone. Twilight then cast the power onto the stone as the room grew bright shouting them all in a blinding white light the travelled from the windows of the castle mile around.

As the room began to dim their attention was cast to the center of the room where the stone had once been revealing a young unicorn colt seemingly asleep. He had sa yellow coat, accompanied by a light blue mane and tail with a wight stripe down his tail, and a soft green eye color could be seen as he slowly awoke. He was no more than one but the off feature was that on his flank already stood a cutiemark as though he had a set fait from his day of birth. His cutiemark was more than unique being a large sun and at its bottom a crescent moon sat as though it were laying on the shallow bottom of the suns rim. On it sat the most shocking of all being the perspective cutiemark elements resting on it, and in the center sat the main peice of Twilight's cutiemark depicting the very markings that sat on the tree of harmony, all say for the exception of the elements depicting the cutiemark shape of the other elements.

They all stood there baffled not knowing what to say. The young colt awoke with a light yawn laying there still. Celestia being the first to speak tried to address the matter at hand.

"Twilight... what shall we do with this new nameless colt?"

"We... we... cant keep him. Not with all of us having out own roles to play..." Her expression began to sadden as her glance met the floor near her feet.

"Well Twilight that is true, but we also don't know who or date to say what he is and also lack the facts of whether he's a danger to us or others." She pondered what they might do now that the unfriendly realization came to view. "We will find him a home... but not emedeately. You six must watch and care for him for now until we have further news on his true ability. Scence your going to be caring for him... it would be best if you gave him a name, would it not?"

Dash broke out suddenly, shouting out a name city joy in her voice "Bolt!" She quickly grabbed her mouth and looked at the rest of her friends now looking right back at her. Celestia gave an approving nod and a small smile.

"Bolt it is..."
