King Sombra manages to cheat death after the Crystal Empire, though a string of events leaves him near powerless and under the care of Ponyville's own element of kindness. Sombra must try to cope with his past and what the future may hold for the ex-king while his caretaker Fluttershy must cope with her unadulterated fear of her houseguest. Eventually they may find that there's more to each other than they would suspect, and they may even find themselves growing closer than either thought possible. Can the pony with "a heart as black as night" ever find a way to change that? Or is he really so heartless that there is just no love to give.
