Chapters Many days had passed since the murder of the King and Queen. Fast Flame locked herself in her room, only letting her brother in every now and then. She became very close to her Father ever since her mother died. Simon's mother married her father 5 years after that. The only thing that bothered Flame was the fact that her new mother was not a Pegasus like her previous mother. Her new mother was just a unicorn, while her father was an Alicorn. Simon took after his mother, just like Flame took after her mom. When Simon and Flame where little they would team up and become a ackward colored Alicorn. While Flame was a mixture of yellows, reds, and oranges, Simon was more of milky greens and blues. Either way they enjoyed each others company.
Simon was scheduled to leave on a Friday so on the Thursday before they played their favorite games and ate their favorite foods. The next was a day full of tears. Not only was Simon leaving, but Fast Flame (as the princess) had to announce the death of her parents. Trying to stay strong for her kingdom, she got by without a single tear. Giving a final hug to Simon, she watched her brother's carriage travel down the road. What she didn't know was that it was gonna be the last time she ever saw her step brother again.
1 WEEK LATER
"HELP! HELP ME!" Fast Flame woke from a reoccering nightmare. The same nightmare she had the night before her parents were killed. Fast flame was runing from something in the dream, something dangerous. It was raining and Flame slipped into a trench. Flame screamed as a dark shadow loomed over her. She screamed again and then she woke up. It was like that every single time, even tonight. It always scared Fast Flame whenever she bad this dream. She always thought something bad would happen after the dream. And something usually did happen, either someone in the royal family got married or another king and queen were murdered. Luckily Fast Flame didn't come of age for being queen. She had another 6 months before that day came. The sucky thing about coming of age for a big royal spot was you had to marry to actually get that spot in authority! It was tradition though...
Ever since Simon left Flame had to take care of the kingdom. Sure it was not as big as Aunt Galaxia and Uncle Cosmos's kingdom, but it was decent sized. Fast Flame had a very low attention span when it came to things like meetings or listening to someone speak, but seeing as she thought she owed it to her parents, she gave it her all to take care of the kingdom.
Fast Flame made it through 4 months without anypony telling her anything about her brother. One day she received a letter from her brother's kingdom:
Dear Princess Fast Flame,
The Kingdom of Leaves is sorry to say that your step brother was killed........
Fast Flame wanted to stop there, but she continued reading.
.....the first Friday of September at 6:32pm. We would like to invite you to his funeral on October 14th. You are welcome to stay at the castle if you wish.

Fast Flame was very mad that this letter was not delievered to her sooner. The first Friday of September was the day Simon left her kingdom, and the funeral was over 2 months ago! It was December now! Checking the date delivered on the envelope, Flame yelled in anger seeing that the letter was delivered the day after Simon was killed. Fast Flame was going to find the pony who kept this from her. And she was gonna have their head for it.
"SOFIE!" Fast Flame screamed while galloping through the halls. "WHERE IS SOFIE!
"Over here Princess," Sofie replied peeking out of a door. "Do you need anything?"
"Sofie, do you know who delivers my mail? And do you know if it is being read?" Flame asked sternly.
"I'm afraid I do not know who delivers your mail m'lady. But I do know that it is being read, after all in times like these you have to be extra careful." Sofie said sweetly. "Does that bother you, your highness?"
"I'm afraid it bothers me very much," Flame spat. "After all I hate reading a letter about my brother's death 4 months after the letter was delivered! I mean who does that to their future queen? Hmmm? Do you know anypony who might do that Sofie?"
"I'm sorry mistress! It was a selfish thing to do! I'm so, so sorry!" Sofie broke out in tears while laying at the hooves of her master. "It will never happen again! Please spare me! I beg of you!"
"Sofie," Flame said looking down at her. "You are relieved of you duties as head maid. I'm afraid I can't trust you anymore. Pack your bags and leave."
"Thank You!" Sofie said kissing Flame's hooves.
"I SAID LEAVE !" Fast Flame yelled. Sofie quickly stood up and qalloped away. "Well that went well didn't it?" Flame said under her breath. "Guess it's time to look for a new servent."
"A husband to m'lady." Said a mysterious voice. Turning around quickly Flame saw her Uncle Cosmos standing above her.
"Uncle Cosmos! Long time no see!" Flame said quickly. What was he doing here? Flame said in her head. "What brings you here?"
Cosmos pulled her into a bear hug. "It's Galaxia. She had another foal! Her name is Luna, like the moon." He said choking up.
"Congrats! So is just you here? Or did you bring the whole family?" Flame asked.
"It's just me. I actually came to ask you about you brother. Why were you not at the funeral?" Cosmos asked with tears in his eyes.
"That's the thing..... I just found out today."
After a lot of explaining, Fast Flame was invited to stay with Cosmos and Galaxia. Flame turned down the offer, and decided to stay at her kingdom. "My people need me . Besides I need to bear witness of the news to my subjects." Fast Flame said. Many days later she received a letter from her aunt amd uncle saying that on January 13th suiters would be showing up at her palace for her hand in mariage. That meant pretty dresses, makeup, and a load of other girly crap. Fast Flame hated girly crap.
"Come on Simon!" Fast Flame yelled to her half brother. "We are gonna be late for dinner!" The two ponies giggled as they ran through the crystal halls. Nearing the dinning room the two stopped. Crowding around the door, were many guards and servants. More then usual. The two teenage ponies examied the the large crowd, looking at the great marble doors Fast Flame gasped as she saw that blood splattered them. She began shaking, making her brother vibrate next to her. Following Flame's eyes, Simon spotted the blood to.
Looking at his sister he noticed tears in her eyes. "Fast Flame? Ar-are you alright?" Simon asked.
Fast Flame looked into his eyes making him tear up to. "They're back..." She wispered. One of the servants turned around only to see the Prince and Princess crying quietly. The servant (who's name was Sofie) came over and draped a wing over Fast Flame. Flame nuzzled into Sofie crying softly.
"Do you care to explain what happened?" Simon asked sternly. "And who is 'they?'"
"Many years ago there was a fued between the Chaos Bringers and the ponies of Equestria. Our people made the Bringers mad and they promised to bring war upon our land. Fast Flame's great grandfather laughed not bothering to take the warning seriously. The Chaos Bringers left never to be seen again, until today that is... Some how a Chaos Bringer broke into palace killing both of your parents." Sofie explained. The story though, only made Fast Flame cry harder. "Simon you are to be sent back to your homeland. Fast Flame, I'm afraid you have to stay here."
"HOLD UP! O-our parents are dead?! And I have to return to the safety of my homeland only to let Fast Flame die here!? I will not let it be this way!" Simon yelled turning all heads toward him.
"Simon," Flame croaked. "I'll be fine."
Simon reached over and pulled his sister into a hug. Simon wispered to his sister before letting her go:
"I will not let you die."
