The Return of King Sombra

15 Miles outside Canterlot

Sombra looked over the darklings, over 400,000, that had gathered, to take Canterlot, and kill Princess Luna, and Celestia.

"Today! We shall not falter! We shall not fail! We will take Canterlot, and then the rest of Equestria!" He yelled "And no one, I repeat NO ONE will be able to stop us!!!!"

The darklings yelled and cheered, as they got ready for the first step in the Invasion of Canterlot. Sombra turned around and snickered darkly, as he marched toward the city's gates.

The ponies of Canterlot, were going through their daily businesses. Shopping, In school, working. But for the royal guards, their work was not as easy, protecting the Princesses every day and to be ready to die for them. Celestia was out on her balcony. She looked at the sun seeing it was time to set it. She started to lower the sun, and Luna started to raise the moon. They were soon halted, by a report coming in from a guard out on patrol.

King Sombra stopped the darklings and looked at Canterlot. "Today, you can no longer help your citizens." Sombra thought. He looked back to his darklings and smiled evilly. "CHARGE!!!" He yelled and the darklings ran down the hill and into the streets of Canterlot, killing anypony who stood in their way. A couple of guards spun around and raised their swords and tried to fight back, but the sheer amount of enemy was overpowering, as the darklings fought pony and guard in the streets all over Canterlot.

A guard slid around a corned and ran down the hallway and into Celestia's room.

"Princess Celestia!!" He yelled out of breath. Celestia came in off the balcony.

"Yes guard, what is it?" She asked.

"King Sombra and his darklings have invaded the city!" He said trying to stay calm. "Over half of the guards already are dead! We have to get you of the castle!"

Celestia doubted him for half a second, maybe less and reluctantly agreed. She walked down the hallway and turned to the guard before they headed outside.

"Guard, where is my sister?" She asked him.

"She is waiting in the carriage." He waid "We have to go now before the darklings get into the castle." He said.

"It may be a little too late for that." A deep voice said behind them. They both spun around and looked right at King Sombra and two darklings.

30 Minutes earlier

"Get into the castle!!!" A guard yelled, before a sword went through his chest. Sombra pulled out sword and blood covered the ground and the guard fell dead.

"KILL THEM ALL!" Sombra yelled as darklings started to raid the castle. Innocent ponies, who had been working in the shops, or who had been at the wrong place and the wrong time were slaughtered. Families ran for their lives, trying to escape, the massive number of darklings, who flooded the castle. Sombra walked in the castle and killed another guard with a spear, he had picked up from a dead guard. The guard yelled in pain, as blood poured out of where the spear had been put straight through his body. The guard collapsed and rolled over, doubled over in pain. Darklings grabbed the guard and pulled him away from the battle field for interrogating. Somba walked past multiple dead bodies of guards and ponies who were covered in blood. The floor now shined a dark red from all the blood, and some ponies and guards were still crying out in agony and pain. Sombra stomped a guard's head to the floor killing him and causing tons of blood to come from his head. Sombra walked down hall after hall trying to find Princess Celestia and Luna. He checked every single room until he got to the kitchen and opened the door. A chef was cowering in fear in the corner. Four darklings stood next o him spears in their hands.

"Pl-Please don't kill me!!" The chef cried "I have a family and kids. I'll tell you anything, just don't kill me!!!"

Sombra did not feel bad and stabbed him in the leg with his spear and pulled it out. The chef yelled in agony, as Sombra broke his leg and a loud CRACK! was heard around the kitchen and echoed through the halls. The chef was now crying in pain and in fear.

"Get him out of here." Sombra ordered to the darklings. The darklings got him to his feet and pushed him away.Sombra looked at the other two darklings.

"Come with me. We have to finish this." He growled and the other two darklings followed him down the halls and towards where the guard and Princess were.

Present day

Celestia narrowed her eyes at him.

"Sombra" She said spitting. The guard pulled out his sword, ready to defend the princess if he had to.

"Silly guard." Sombra said laughing and shaking his head "Don't you know you can't defeat me?" The two darklings cornered the Guard and they pulled out their spears and the first one swung at him, but the guard dodged it by falling backwards and stabbed him through the heart making the door and floor splatter with blood. The guard scrambled to his feet and got kicked down by the other Darkling. The darkling hissed and stabbed the guard through the leg cornering him to the floor. The guard yelled in pain as he saw the blood ooze from his leg and heard the bone snap. The guard desperately tried to reach for his sword, but couldn't as the darkling grabbed and threw it on the floor and kicked it away. Sombra smiled evilly at Celestia.

"You're mine now." He said pulling out his own sword. The guard closed his eyes and a tear fell down his face, knowing he could do nothing to protect her. Sombra swung, and Celestia backed up avoiding the attack. She used her magic and fired a magic spell at the darkling from her horn killing it. She threw the sword to the guard who got the spear out and charged Sombra.

Sombra just watched the guard and smiled darkly as he stabbed the guard through the chest. The guard dropped  his sword and fell to the floor still alive. Sombra pulled out his sword as blood now covered it from other guards and ponies. Two darklings walked over hearing the commotion and stood behind their leader.

"NO!!" Celestia cried as she saw the guard. The guard coughed up blood and his head dropped sideways. Sombra smiled and stabbed her through the heart. Celestia gasped and fell off the sword dead as a pool of blood covered her body .Sombra looked at the darklings.

"Get the guard. We can get info from him too." He said darkly as the darklings helped the severely injured guard towards their camp. Sombra walked outside and saw the carriage. He smiled darkly and grabbed a crossbow from a dead guard by the door. He shot both guards in the knee and in the heart. Both dropped dead and Sombra opened the carriage door seeing Luna not there.

"LUNA!!!!!!!" He yelled to the sun and moon, knowing she escaped to somewhere safe... For now. He growled and walked back through the city as dead bodies lie everywhere. He went back to the camp, and learned where Luna could possibly be. He laughed darkly as the moon set and darkness set across Equestia.

Sombra arrived back at the make shift base and cleared his throat. The darklings who were there quieted as Sombra took a breath.

"TONIGHT! WE SHALL TAKE STALLIONGRAD! WHEN THEY FIND THEY HAVE NO LEADER, THEY WILL FLEE LIKE PIGS!" Sombra yelled "NO PONY CAN STOP US FROM HERE ON OUT! NOTHING WILL STAND IN OUR WAY!" The darklings yelled their approval and they gathered their weapons, and started marching towards Stalliongrad. The three captive prisoners, sat silently in make shift cells in the mud. The most injured, a guard by the name of Monster, Coughed up some blood. He wiped it off and looked at the other two prisoners.

"We were at the wrong place and at the wrong time." The chef said sighing. "I don't think I'll see my family again." He said a tear falling down his cheek "They won't even know what happened to me."

The guard who had been taken back half way through the battle, known as Nightstorm, looked at him.

"I was planning on proposing to my marefried." He said pulling out a ring and wincing at the pain he had. "She was perfect too." He said and looked off into space "She will probably never hear my voice again."

The other guard, known as Hawk, just looked at them. He coughed up some more blood and chuckled.

"I'll never even see my family again." He said a tear falling down his face "When I was running to tell Celestia, a darkling had taken me down and I watched as they slaughtered my family in front of me. I had only been able to escape after they had murdered them." He said remembering the awful memory.

Six hours earlier

Hawk ran as fast as he could trying to get to Celestia's room. A darkling hissed and hit him off his feet and pinned him.

"YOU WILL WATCH ONE OF THE FAMILIES HERE DIES!" The darkling said trying to cause him pain to the ponies living in Canterlot. Hawk struggled vainly until he saw his wife and foal shaking in fear. He saw his wife mouth the words "I love you." Before the darkling stabbed a sword through the pony and crushed the foal's head making blood cover his wife's body and cover the darkling and floor. Blood was all over the darkling's face as he loved watching others suffer. Hawk got free from the darkling's grip and ran to Celestia's room and told her the news.

Present day

Monster looked at him horror and sadness in his eyes.

"That's awful. They made you watch your family die in front of you in the worst way possible, without them knowing it was your family." He said. The chef shook his head.

"No pony should die like that. They should die in peace when they are old. Not young and get bloodily murdered" He said trying to comfort the guard. Hawk managed to smile for half a second before it vanished and a tear rolled down his cheek.

"And I'll never get to see my beautiful wife again."

Sombra marched straight into the town and announced the news to the shocked ponies.

"Now are you going to follow me and live or fight and die?" He asked. The ponies looked at one another and some whispered.

The town mayor spat at him.

"We'd rather die and get revenge than follow you!!" He yelled. The citizens yelled and screamed in agreement.

"As you wish." Sombra said and the darklings began to kill the ponies. Guards rushed the darklings and began to fight to save the city to their death's. The darklings killed one guard after another and the darklings lost just as much. A guard stabbed a darkling through the chest and twisted it before slicing it down tearing it in two. The guard smiled and darklings began tearing guards apart. Literally. A darkling grabbed a guard and tore off his leg before breaking his back with a loud CRACK! The guard screamed in pain as blood poured from his leg and started turning his body crimson red from the blood that soaked his amour. Citizens began getting killed by the hundreds, as darklings killed one after another in the worst ways possible. Ripped apart, stabbed through the heart, heads smashed, etc. Finally the last of the guards remained and made a bold stand, as they all died swords in their chests and eyes still open in determination. The streets were crimson red and darkling and pony bodies lay everywhere. Somba laughed darkly and walked out of the now destroyed town. Three darklings set the town ablaze and they returned to the camp, the city blazing and on fire in the distance.
