I said as I entered the crowded junky swap meet with my girlfriend Kate and best friend Kevin, although most people called him Kay. "C'mon brother the meet's only started!" Kay nudged me on the shoulder to try and get my spirit back. "Oh hot damn!" He suddenly said, spying a white Stetson on a table and rooting around his pockets for his wallet. "And so ends the tale of Kevin "Kay" Donovan." Kate chuckled walking forward. "Hey Matt I'll catch up with you later, I need replacement glasses after that stunt James pulled." "Huh, Captain James T. Carter, boldly breaking what no man has ever broken before, in more ways than one." Kay said upon catching up with us. "Kay Katie, see ya' call me if you're lost." I said, while Kate strutted off to find eye glasses. We wandered around for the better part of an hour, me buying a long-as-hell k-bar, along with a sheath to go with it, a surprisingly inexpensive colt .45 revolver with a free of charge angel draw shoulder holster that the owner insisted I keep despite only being fifteen with no gun license, and a hard-top ruddy colored Stetson to go with Kay's flawless alabaster one. "So bro, where haven't we been?" Kay asked me after a while. "Hmm..." I said, scanning my almost empty wallet. "I honestly think we've bee-" "Eh fellas, come look at these beauties no?" A man with a thick, almost unintelligible Yugoslavian drawl abruptly cut me off. "This looks interesting..." Kay slowly stated when entering the vendor's tent. "How would you boys like a rare vintage timepiece huh?" The foreigner said, sweeping his hand over the large display case of wrist-watches, wall clocks, novelty watches, even a wrist watch with Mikey Mouse as a Nazi officer! I mean, who openly owns that? But one specific one brought my attention, and through my peripheral vision, I caught Kay looking at a very similar watch. I unwillingly opened my mouth and said words that I was sure weren't mine. "One sterling silver pocket watch, with a chain please sir." I said, then bringing a hand over my mouth in surprise. "The Brass and ebony one sir, matching chain." Kevin stated curtly in a voice that sounded not at all like his own. He too clapped a hand over his mouth when finished speaking. "Certainly gentlemen." He drawled, flashing a smile creepier than that of death himself. "B-bu-but I'm not sure I can afford the thing! I-I mean if this piece didn't cost hundreds..." I quickly claimed, wanting to get out of this mess as quickly as possible. "Ditto!" Kay stupidly added, violently nodding his head. "Oh but you don't seem to understand boys, you don't pay with money..." "What..." Kevin and I said in sync, picking up our respective watches and hitting the opening mechanism, if only to see the inside of the time piece, as a bright red light began to envelope the world around us. "...You pay with your life." The mans voice faded out as I suddenly lost consciousness. The day it all went to hellI awoke near a little hill, I was confused for a moment until I remembered what had happened preceding this. I decided to look myself over for any damage, and noticed I was not wearing my clothing, I had somehow been switched into a white dress shirt and torn blue jeans. I had kept my hat, and gun (somehow now with ammunition) , and of course that stupid watch that had somehow gotten me here. "Well screw me sideways why don'cha?" I looked left, rolling green hills, to my right, dark scary forest. "Left it is then." I said, walking in the aforementioned direction. That is, until I tripped over something. "Uuughhh." The offending object groaned. "Found Kevin, at least I'm not alone." I muttered under my breath. "Aw hell man, what did we drink last night dude, forties?" Kay muttered while rising off of the ground. I got up and dusted myself off straightening my shoulder rig and looking down. "It'll come to ya Kay." I waited for a full thirty seconds before he started freaking out, he looked himself over and took the watch out of the inside pocket of his faded leather jacket and flipped it open probably hoping to get home again, he repeated this process several times until I took ahold of his right hand, after calming him down I decided to check our gear it was listed as such: 1 Colt .44 six shot revolver (with six corresponding rounds): Matt Torn jeans (2 pair): Kay and Matt 1 brown leather jacket: Kay 1 Flannel plaid shirt with left chest pocket: Kay 1 White dress shirt: Matt 1 empty brown rucksack: debatable ownership, but it turned up with Kay 1 white Stetson: Kay 1 rust colored Stetson: Matt 1 sterling silver pocket watch: Matt 1 bronze and ebony fob watch: Kay "That's pretty much it Kevin." I sighed at the distinct lack of Oreos. "I'm scared man, like, really, really scared. I don't think we'll find anyone out here man." Kay started to slightly convulse as we trekked the seemingly endless green landscape. "Don't be to sure brotha', look at that!" I jerked his head to look in the general direction I was looking. "Oh thank The Lord in heaven!" He yelled as we both started running along the train tracks. Judgmental horses? We followed the train tracks for about four hours, not once encountering a train, by now we'd guessed that we were in an extremely rural area since there was no third rail on the tracks, and there was rusted farm equipment scattered everywhere, we also seemed to be going uphill, or mountain rather, luckily for us we didn't have to walk on the unreliable train trestle thanks to the maintenance walkway carved into the side of the mountain eventually we decided to stop and just make camp, with the little supplies we had. "Yeah it's getting late anyway, best to just get some sleep." I agreed knowing Kay was not one to argue with. "Wake up daemon scum!" I heard before getting a kick to the ribcage. "OOF! What the hell man?! I'm up! I'm up for christ's sake!" I yelled standing up and groggily opening my eyes. What stood before me was enough to make any man, even someone as serious as myself laugh, what stood before me was a white small horse, or I guess a pony in retrospect, with blue hair and golden armor, and cartoonish lay large eyes sticking a ridiculously small sword in my face. "Stop it! This is no laughing matter!" He, or I assumed it was a he, yelled to me as two more ponies approached with spears, this only made me laugh harder this apparently made the weird-shouldn't-exist-pony furious as the two in the back threw their spears at my face. I was about to reach for my gun when something in my head said "Lol, nope." And I reached for my watch, and clicked the button on top, and the spears froze in place about an inch from my face. I looked behind me in shock to see Kevin giving me the same stare I was giving him. "Matt, do you think-" Kay started, when I abruptly cut him off. "Not logical." "But it has to be, just think about it!" Kay retorted angrily. "Nope, no time warp here." I said shaking my head violently. Kay shook me by my shoulders and yelled at me. "Just trust me! Remember X-men: Days Of Future Past?" He asked me still holding me by the shoulders. "Yeah... wait, why would you ask at a Time like this?" I asked skeptically. He provided no answer as he simply adjusted the trajectory of the spears so that it would hit the ceiling and, as we walked by he poked all three ponies in their faces leaving what looked to be a ripple. "Hit the button thing again. He stated as we walked off I did as he said and three yelps followed by three audible thuds resounded, but somehow that pissed off leader guy jumped on top of us and knocked us both out before we could reach for our watches. The last thing I remember hearing was something along the lines of: "May Celestia have mercy on your dark soul, daemon."
