Memory Of You
I remember you…
You always sit down in your chair all snug, digging your head in your books like these novels and knowledgeable texts were the most important things of your life.
You left me there, sitting and waiting for the next calling of my name.
It was only thing that I specifically remember about you.
The other events of saving the world from uncertain or certain terrors were just your friends. I was the last resort or the “third wheel”.
I didn’t know what I was to represent.
And when I did something stupid or became angry, you tried to understand my plight.
But something just didn’t seem right.
You would know what was wrong in a split second, but you never understood my true issue.
I was alone.
I was tossed aside.
And you didn’t notice it.
Because you were the one who caused it.
I was your loyal assistant, something not many ponies would do.
It’s a rough job; knowing your magic capability, your loud yells, and all your messy clutter.
You could even blow up the whole library if you wanted to.
And now, since you’re a princess, I can’t help but look back at my past and wonder...
What is my purpose?
Am I really your number one assistant?
Can I maybe start from scratch and live on my own?
I could…
...but you’d try to stop me.
Knowing you, you wouldn’t support me.
You’d say, “But I need you to do something else!” in that smooth yet needy tone of yours.
It didn’t phase me, but I couldn’t reject the calls.
I wanted to be that number one on your list.
But as time progressed, Twilight, I realized...
...I’m simply your lucky number seven.
Your friends and Princess Celestia place well before me.
It’s just not fair.
So, Twilight, I have thought about this long and hard.
And I know that this letter probably has you in tears.
But I don’t care.
Twilight, I love you, but I can’t stay with you any longer.
You were a great caretaker and I know that you’ll be upset with me for a long while, but I can’t stay.
I need a fresh start.
So, I’m moving to Manehatten.
There’s something I have to do there.
I have somepony to meet.
She’s there and I just…
I need to know if she’s alive or not.
And if she is, I’ll start my life anew with her.
If not, I’ll still be living among the ponies of Manehatten.
After all, the big city life is something I’ve never experienced before and I’m quite curious as to how it will pan out.
I need to be away from the countryside and the regality.
And I need to be away from this place.
I hope you understand, Twilight.

P.S. I left some items under your bed for you. I hope you like them, they’ll remind you of me.
As her eyes glaze over the final few words in the letter, she chokes back a sob and approaches her bed. She gently bends down and looks under the bed and gasps. Underneath the bed was three items. First item was an emerald necklace.
It’s beautiful…
She takes a few moments to observe the necklace, it’s silver lining and glossy finish making it a work of art. On the emerald, the letters and symbol “S + T” were etched in. As she twirled the necklace around, her eyes landed upon the engraving on the backside of the necklace. She gasped as she read the words aloud.
“Friends forever.”
Sliding the necklace over her neck, she looked underneath the bed to pull out the next item: a bag.
“Hmm?” she hums out, scavenging through the bag of its contents. Each little item she pulled out drew an adorable squeak out of her. Each item made her remember Spike. A love letter to Rarity asking for her hoof in marriage, a doodle of Spike and Twilight sitting on a bench in the park, an apron from when he cooked his gem cakes, one of his first letters he ever sent to Celestia for her, several pictures of them together in the castle, and so much more.
She couldn’t even keep up with how many items were in there, but they were all so important.
She couldn’t stop grinning.
And she couldn’t stop crying either.
With tears in her eyes, she ducks down to grab the final item with her magic. She chokes out a sob upon seeing it and hugs it to her chest.
It was a plushie of him.
He made it himself.
She shakily sighs and nuzzles the neck of the plushie. She never has had somepony walk out on her in her life, yet she knew it would happen. Even though she expected it, the pain of him leaving her behind hurts her.
But she realizes now that she also left him too.
I was alone.

The brutal truth shakes her to the core, her body shaking a bit, a small tear sliding down her cheek. She whimpers, realizing what she has done to her poor friend, her brother, her little dragon.
How could he have dealt with this without telling me? I could’ve changed!
She grips the plushie tightly with her hooves.
“Why did you do this?” she cries out.
Suddenly, her eyes widen and her mouth drops wide open.
She releases the plushie, the soft, fluffy replica landing softly on the ground beside her, leaning on her right foreleg.
“You wanted me to realize…”
I was the last resort or the “third wheel”.
“...that I was…”
But as time progressed, Twilight, I realized...
...I’m simply your number lucky number seven.
Your friends and the princesses place well before me.
“...never there for you.”
She picks up the replica of Spike with her magic and nuzzles it gently, her tears still coating her fur. She slowly walks over to her bed and clambers into it, whimpering quietly as she relinquishes her magical grip around the object. She sighs, snuggling into her pillow and her new plushie.
In agony she lies still, her uneasiness keeping her awake.
“I lost someone dear to me…”
She sighs.
“He’s somewhere else now…”
She grips onto her plushie tightly.
“And I’ll never get to see him again…”
The tears continue down her cheeks.
“Now I know why he left…”
She cries out in pain.
“Because the memory of you hurts the most.”

This came out of no where. I wanted this to hit everyone hard, right in the feels. I know that this might have been cliche, considering it started out as a letter, but you quickly see how it reads. Parts of this were to be poetic, so that’s why it’s written like it is.
So, I hope you guys enjoy this.
