Trigger: plausible explanations of a technologically developed Equestria are to follow. You have been warned.

When strange, millennia-old artifacts are found inside of glaciers in the frozen tundra north of the Crystal Empire, sometimes their best left buried. Unfortunately, the scientific curiosity of ponies often gets the better of them, and when that happens, a lot of ponies die.

One such artifact, the Ascendant Core, steals Celestia's magic while she's inspecting it. Shortly after, the Ascendants themselves show up, taking her and the Core to the Ark, but not before Twilight and Luna escape with a handful of soldiers. Now, the mane 6, along with Princess Luna, must bring the races of Equus together, not just to save their home, but to save everyone's. The only problem?

No one actually wants to help.
