PONIES IN ARMS-2. NUCLEAR WINTER

We left Canterlot early in the morning so as not to make a big scene. I told twilight to go to the castle to gather anything regarding Intel on this new so called N.L.R and to meet me back in Ponyville with what she found. I figured she would be best suited for this duty seeing as she was the prized student of Celestia herself and if any pony could get that Intel she could.

We hugged and kissed, and then she was on her way to the castle. I led my unit out of the city and into an all new hell. The sky was choked with smoke, ash, and what seemed to be snow. The fallout from all the nukes was now settling over Equestria giving everything an eerie feel to it. It was as if the very sky no longer existed but instead was replaced by a sickening grey/black haze. The fine snow that was falling blanketed everything and every pony. I ordered my unit to put on their hazard suits with respirators as well we would not take these off for the remainder of the war.

Every place we now went through had signs posted that read things like (ALL HAIL THE N.L.R, or THE E.L.F IS NOMORE) also there was a strange new government system in place that was now putting Equestria under a new mandatory curfew making it hard for me and my unit to get around at night. This did not seem like the last war instead it seemed as though the E.L.F and the N.L.R were at war with each other and not with any pony in particular.

Twilight made it to the castle only to be turned away by all new guards wearing black with a moon patch on the shoulders of their uniforms. "That’s odd, what happened to the old guards" she thought to herself. She would have to look for a way into the castle if she wanted any information on this new government and what was now happening. She found a pony she knew in Canterlot who agreed to take her to the castle and gain access to it. "NAME, AND REASON FOR BEING HERE" a pony in black armor questioned. "TWILIGHT SPARKLE, AND IM HERE TO INQUIRE AS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING IN EQUESTRIA I AM ACTING UNDER THE ORDERS OF BOTH MAJOR READ AND PRINCESS CELESTIA AND YOU WILL LET ME IN" The pony at the door just looked at her in wide eyed disbelief at what had just happened stuttered a few words and opened the door. Upon entering the castle Twilight was greeted by a giant poster of Luna with the letters N.L.R and finally a meaning for them under the letters. The entire poster read like this. (ALL HAIL THE N.L.R, THE ONE TRUE REPUBLIC OF ALL EQUESTRIA, THE NEW LUNAR REPUBLIC.) Twilight nearly fell over at reading this and started for the door to get out but she was blocked by a guard. She pushed him out of the way and ran out of the castle towards Ponyville.

Meanwhile I and my unit were on our way to Appleloosa where we were going to meet up with some resistance ponies for extra support at Shattered Hoof Ridge. I had gotten hold of them back in Ponyville as they were preparing for an upcoming deployment. They happened to be some of the very same ponies we had met back 2 years ago as the resistance fighters of Las Pegasus. They were all too willing to help us out in our fight against the E.L.F and told us to meet them in Appleloosa.

They were wearing all white armor that had a patch with the sun on it and the letters N.C.E under it. I inquired as to what it meant and if it had anything to do with the N.L.R. They looked at me in shock as if I had just cursed their very souls to hell itself then the leader calling himself Kill Shot asked me what I knew of the N.L.R and if I was now a spy for Luna. I looked at him for a second and told him I knew nothing of the N.L.R and that I had only seen the posters and other Intel we had gotten from E.L.F radio. I then asked him if my suspicions about the E.L.F and the N.L.R were founded. What he told me next sent a chill down my spine. "Yup, you are right on the money major. Both the E.L.F and the N.L.R are indeed the same organization. We found this out in interrogating a prisoner we had captured in the first war and boy was his story hard to follow. As it turns out yes the E.L.F were their own forces to begin with but after the nuking of Manehatten they had lost almost half of their fighting force. One pony came to Canterlot to ask for an end to the war and to be granted immunity for any part she played in the war. Celestia was not going to have this and ordered the pony arrested and sentenced to death. Luna thought this was a bit harsh and talked to her sister. After the talk Celestia reversed the order and the pony was set free. Luna would meet with this pony from time to time gathering any information she could on the pony’s actions and when the time was right confronted her with a proposition. The proposition was this. Luna would supply the E.L.F with Intel, arms, ponies, and other essentials for war they would become the secret branch of the E.L.F. The beginnings of the N.L.R were in place and they were told not to reveal who they truly were until ordered by Luna herself. After the battle for Ponyville the leaders of the E.L.F were killed by you and your team ending the war and Luna’s contact. That’s right major; Trixie was the pony who had gone to Canterlot during the last few months of the war to ask for an end to it all. Turns out that Luna had tricked Trixie and led her into a trap, Ponyville"
