Chapter 1: And so it begins
His head was pounding, his lungs and legs were on fire, and he could feel his heart attempting to burst out of his chest, yet, he ran. He ran as fast as his body would let him. He quickly looked over his left shoulder to see 2 men, MUCH larger than he was, but… that wasn’t hard to be. He realized that they were gaining on him, so he pushed himself to the breaking point. Everything around him was becoming darker, and darker. Finally, he collapsed to the hard concrete beneath him.
When he awoke, he saw the 2 men from before, standing over his aching body.
“I thought we told you that running was pointless?” The larger of the 2 men boomed. The man’s voice was obnoxiously loud.
“Yeah, last time I checked, we told you to take what you get, and don’t throw a fit!” The smaller one snickered with a stupid grin on his face.
“First of all,” the boy started.
“Shut it!” The large one said, placing a hand on the boy’s collared shirt. “I’m going to end your smart-assary once and for all, you little shit.”
The boy was barely fazed. “That’s what you said last time! What, are you running out of empty threats?”
The boy instantly regretted being a smart-ass in this situation. The large one balled his fist, and slammed it into the boy’s jaw line. The boy’s face felt like it had been hit by a semi-truck. The boy cried out in agony, as the small one tapped the shoulder of the big one, and whined about never ‘getting a turn’ with the boy.
The big one dropped the boy, whose face now contorted from the pain. The small one then proceeded to kick the boy. Again and again the boy felt the dull pain of the kicks in his stomach. He tried his best to curl up into a ball and protect himself from the assailant, but it was pointless. He laid there for what seemed like years, taking the punishment like he always did. He wanted to do something about it, but what could he do? He was a scrawny, 120 pound, sophomore. They, on the other hand were at least 225 pounds, played football, and were seniors.
When the relentless pounding of his abdomen suddenly ended, he opened his eyes, to see the 2 men looking absolutely horrified. He then heard the tell-tale sound of a police siren.
The boy, still in pain, smirked.“Hey guys, this has been fun and all, but I have some homework to do. So why don’t you 2 run along before that officer questions this situation.” With that, the two men bolted as fast as they could, down the street and around the corner.
The boy, with a wince, slowly stood up. He had gotten used to that sort of thing, and as much as he wanted to hang those 2 fucks from their own intestines, he couldn’t (not without going to prison, that is). The boy walked down one of the small, two lane streets of his home town. He had always loved the place, and he began to wonder if he would ever have to say goodbye to it.
I’m going to go to college eventually, right? he thought. Yes, but that’s a long time from now, so why am I worrying? I’m being overly dramatic, and silly.
He hated when there was some big ‘drama’ going through the school. Usually it was some dumbass making things up and basically just being an asshat. It was always frustrating to hear the same shit from 4 different people, especially if it’s just someone being a dumb, immature, childish, baby. Constant whining, and just plain stupid shit, but it was high school, what did he expect?
He eventually made it back to his home, and when he opened the door, he was instantly greeted by his dog, and his mother. The latter asked why his face looked ‘fucked up beyond repair.’
To which he replied, “Eric and Brady again, but I’m fine. I’m going to eat, then try to do my homework. I probably won’t end up doing it. You know how it is.”
His mother shrugged off the condition of his face, and sarcastically said “Okay, have fun.” The boy chuckled at his mother’s sense of humor, and then strode into the kitchen.
He looked in the pantry, and took out a bag of goldfish. Good ol’ goldfish, what would he do without them. He sat down at the kitchen table and took out his algebra 2 homework. After around 10 minutes of sitting there and staring at his worksheet, he decided to say ‘fuck it’, and he went up stairs.
Plopping down on his bed, he opened his laptop and checked his E-mail. “Wow!” he said as he looked at his inbox. “2026, and still going strong.” He rolled his eyes, and closed his laptop. He was instantly bored. Damn you TV, and your mind numbing, attention span shrinking programs.
He ended up going outside to swim. His pool was 4 feet deep, and had a diving board, so he used it. He normally didn’t do tricks, but he was feeling adventurous today. He eventually decided to do a front flip. He climbed up the ladder to the top of the diving board, and with much hesitation, he jumped.
The next few moments were a hazy blur in his mind. He remembered doing half of a front flip before hitting the water, and he also remembered feeling something warm on his head. He opened his eyes and saw himself staring at a florescent light, surrounded by white ceiling tiles. He blinked and rubbed his eyes. Was he in the hospital? Upon further examination of is room, he concluded that yes, he was in a hospital, but it was not a familiar hospital. Suddenly, he saw the door open to reveal 8, human-like figures enter the room.
The figures slowly made their way over to the flabbergasted young man. The boy stared the now clear figures standing before him, they were all different colors. There was a cyan one, a pink one, a white one, a yellow one, an orange one, and a purple one; the other 2 were both white. One of them was obviously a nurse, but the last one… the last one looked huge compared to the rest of them.
“Um… Sup?” the boy said.
All at once, they recoiled in surprise. He guessed that they were not expecting him to be able to talk. “Hi! I’m Pinkie Pie! Who are you? Where are you from? I can’t wait to throw your welcoming party! I’m going to need a cake, and punch! Ooooh, and I’ll need-“ the pink person rambled.
“Pinkie!” the purple one interrupted. “Instead of bombarding our guest with questions, and parties, why don’t we let him get used to everything that’s going on?” she reasoned. That shut Pinkie Pie up real quick.
The boy was still shocked that these people had tails, horns, and wings! He slowly rose to a sitting position. ‘What the fuck is this place?’ he thought. ‘Why are there magical rainbow people in my hospital room? Also, how the hell did I get here?’
“Hi Pinkie Pie, and others,” he said nodding to the rest of his audience. “My name is Aleksander, and I’m fucking confused. So, if you could answer my questions, that’d be just peachy,” he said, sarcasm dripping from his last few words.
“Of course Aleksander,” said the huge one.
“First, where the hell am I? Second, how and why am I here?” Aleks asked.
Purple began explaining. “You are in the land of Equestria, inside a hospital in the town of ponyville.”
Aleks took the new information in. He was obviously not on Earth, but he still wondered why he was here, and how.
As if she read his mind, Big Whitey said, “As to how and why you are here, we are not sure. Fluttershy saw you floating in Froggy Bottom Bog.”
Yellow shrunk down at the sound of, what Aleks presumed was, her name. Aleks smiled at Fluttershy, “Thanks. I’m glad I was face up… How should I repay you?”
Fluttershy looked at him, gently smiled and said, “O-oh… it’s okay… y-you don’t have to repay me.”
Aleks was taken aback by this complete stranger’s kindness and generosity. If he saw someone floating lifelessly in a fucking swamp, he would either run away, or poke it with a stick and film it.
“Well, I already know 2 of you, so why don’t the rest of you introduce yourselves?” Aleks suggested.
Purple was the first to respond, “Hello, my name is Twilight Sparkle. I am the librarian here in ponyville; I am also the personal student of-“
“Me,” Big Whitey interrupted. “I’m Princess Celestia, I co-rule Equestria with my sister Luna, who is busy at the moment.”
“I’m Rainbow Dash, the fastest young flyer in all of Equestria!” Cyan said, her voice cracking at certain points. Aleks already liked her, she was obviously cocky, but in a likeable way.
Orange spoke up next. “Ah’m AppleJack and ah will be giving you a place to stay when you get out of the hospital. Ah could also give you some work if you’re hurtin’ for money.”
“Thanks… I assume my money is worthless here?” Aleks asked.
“Completely,” said Twilight.
Celestia floated a large bag of golden coins over to Aleks. “However, I will provide 350 bits to help get you on your feet here.”
“I can’t thank all of you enough for all that you have done for me.” Aleks gushed. “When will I be released nurse?”
The nurse looked over to Aleks and said, “Tomorrow morning, you are completely fine. You only needed a couple of stitches in your head.”
“Thank you so much guys, but I would like to get some sleep. Traveling across planets is tiring work.” All of them nodded, and left Aleks to his thoughts.
Well, it looks like I will be here for a while, so I might as well make some friends, and find something to occupy my time here… but, for now, I’m really tired. And with that, Aleks laid back down, and slept.
