Set in an alternate universe where Discord moves into Canterlot instead of staying in Ponyville after "Keep Calm and Flutter On," and where Tirek wins. It's my first attempt at sad, so constructive criticism is appreciated, but please be gentle :)

Dear Discord...

Dear Discord,
I know you will never read these letters. I mean, why would you? I'm just a pony while you are an immortal spirit of chaos, even if I am your friend. But I dunno, sometimes I just really need somepony to talk to...being ignored and antisocial in public doesn't really give you much time to let your opinions out, so I guess this is actually kinda like a diary. Only, less private, since I'm sending all of my letters to you.
Believe it or not, I actually get kinda lonely at times with no one to talk to. I mean, I have my animal friends, and my pony friends, but there are just some things you can't tell ponies. So, yeah...I don't know why I'm sending my letters to you, but maybe it's because I am the wallflower with no social status whatsoever and you're the reformed spirit of chaos with no social status, so maybe you would understand where I'm coming from. Plus, it must be pretty lonely up in Canterlot.
Maybe you should come back to Ponyville for some tea, or something. My animal friends are actually great tea party guests.
Anyways, I have something to do. Angel Bunny is hungry again.

Did you hear the great news? I mean, of course you have, you live in Canterlot, for Celestia's sake, but I'm going to tell you anyway: Twilight is a princess now! I'm so happy for her! I mean, all of my friends are, but still! A princess of Equestria, living in Ponyville! I wonder how different life will be now...

Dear Discord,
I turned into a bat. Wanna know how?
It all started when Applejack called us over to her place for an emergency meeting. Apparently, some vampire fruit bats were destroying her orchard, and she wanted them gone. I told her that if we kept them, it would help her orchard, but she didn't listen, and made me help her and Twilight stop the fruit bats from destroying her orchard. You know the stare? It might not work on you, but other animals get quite intimidated by it, so that's how I helped, if you want to know.
Of course, since I was using the stare on the bats while Twilight cast her spell, she turned me into a bat-pony hybrid. I don't remember what happened next, but the next thing I remember is waking up on the ground wondering what happened with my friends filling me in on what happened. Applejack had the dignity to admit it was her fault, and she seemed genuinely sorry about it. So, we reserved a spot in the orchard for them, and everypony lived happily ever after.

Dear Discord,
Yesterday, it was Rainbowdash's birthday-anniversary (or, as they call it, "birthiversary") and we had the best party ever! Thanks to the collaboration of Pinkie Pie and somepony named Cheese Sandwich, we probably had the best time that we had in a long while- and yes, I'm including taking care of you. Not everything is amazing just because you're in it!
But of course, I am looking forward to some rest and relaxation. Maybe over a quiet little tea party?

Dear Discord,
Twilight is beginning to doubt her social status as a princess. I've caught her on more than one occasion lamenting to herself about her octal status, and the weight it really holds. Of course, I slip away before I get noticed, but I'm really starting to worry for her. It doesn't look like she's gotten much sleep lately. Oh well. At least we have the trip to the Crystal Empire to look forward to next week.

Dear Discord,
Twilight tells us that there's someone named Tirek on the loose stealing magic, and that Celestia's sent you off to capture him. Oh my gosh! I'm so happy for you right now, and so proud as well! You finally have your first actually mission as a knight of friendship, or whatever it's called! I mean, we hardly know each other, but you're one of my best friends. Is that weird?
I'd love to tell you how proud I am in person. Maybe over a little tea?

Twilight is telling everypony to fortify the town, stay in their houses, only leave when necessary, etc., etc. Basically, it's a ghost town now. We have limited supplies, and are pretty much just an army camp now, prepared for the worst and hoping for the best.
I know you'll pull through for us. Please. I believe in you.

Dear Discord,
I hear that you've joined sided with Tirek. I hope that you're happy with yourself, plunging all of Equestria into danger like this. Twilight went bonkers after finding out that I'm still writing to you, but it told her that I needed to send at least one last letter to you, and she wasn't pleased, but she relented. I guess she understands that even though we've only met in person a few times, you're the one pony I trust more than anypony else.
It has been fun talking to you through these letters. I thought I had finally found someone I could connect to, and that I could let on, and someone who would actually listen to me instead of just ignoring me like everyone else in my life.
I guess I thought wrong.
Tea isn't an option anymore.

Dearest Fluttershy,
I'm writing this letter knowing that you'll never receive it. Knowing that Tirek succeeded in his conquest of Equestria.
Knowing that it is all my fault.
And as I write this, Tirek is looking at me scornfully, but not saying anything. I feel as if I should make plans soon to escape, before he betrays me as I betrayed you.
I just want you to know that I understand how much of an idiot I was for doing it.
I read every single one of the letters that you sent, wether I was bored or busy, or sad or mad. I just want you to know that Canterlot was extremely lonely, and the letters I got were probably the most favorite part of my day.
I wish I hadn't been so selfish as to betray you and all of Equestria for my own selfish wants. I wish I had understood back then how much your friendship meant to me. But most of all...
I wish you knew that I was sorry.
I acknowledged earlier that you were never going to get this letter...but...for what it's worth...
Tea sounds like a lovely idea right now.

Author's Note

I realized that the reason that I can't write chapters of Equestriancraft is because that stuff is happy and light (we haven't hit the dark part of the story yet) and my mind has been really dark and sad lately due to reading Dagan Ronpa Minecraft.
So, I decided to clear some up in the form of a story. How did I do?
