Luna's Derpy Dream

Just a Dream... Right?

Princess Luna trotted impatiently to her chambers, wanting nothing more than to crawl in bed and fall fast asleep. It had been too long a day for her to care about anything else than the slumber that awaited her. With all the appointments she had to keep that day it seemed like the only one she was ever late for was her bed. Alas she found her door, and opened it with haste before trotting inside the familiar dark atmosphere of her quarters.

She had almost made it into bed before the door shut behind her. She snuggled one of her pillows and threw the blankets over top of her, not like the stereotypical covers neatly covering you but more like a sprawled out on the bed in the most comfortable position you can find thing.

Almost instantly she felt the blissful world of sleep pulling her out of consciousness.

The next time she opened her eyes, she was on the moon, but the moon was much smaller, much much smaller. Not a full moon but a crescent, though she was unsure if it was waxing or waning. She was sitting in its arc, with a fishing pole in her hooves, which didn't make any since to her. She looked around, expecting to see the earth somewhere but instead she found clouds, and a lake beneath her. The stars looked closer than usual, but they weren't to bright. “I'm dreaming.” She realized with a smile.

She looked down at the rod in her hooves and shrugged. With a quick flick of her hooves she cast the line out, nodding approvingly when she heard the splash of the line in the water.

“Hi Princess.”

“Wha!?” Luna jumped and dropped her fishing poll before catching it with her magic. She turned toward the source of the voice to see Ditzy sitting beside her. “D-Derpy? How? Where did you?”

“I don't know.” Ditzy shrugged. “I was just... here all of a sudden, then I saw you next to me so I said hi.”

“Oh, well... uh...” Luna's face turned a faint shade of red. 'Wait, get ahold of yourself Luna, its just a dream.' She told herself. She'd admired this mare from afar, always so happy, so caring, and different. They'd spoken on several occasions being Ditzy was a mail mare, even had a few visits for various miscellaneous activities, however they were never really alone, until now. Luna recovered her composure. “I'm glad your here Derpy, and you know you don't have to call me princess.”

“Just a courtesy.” Derpy smiled. “You've earned the title, anyway what ya doin?”

“I guess I'm fishing, I only got here a minute before you. If you want we can share-”

She was interrupted by Ditzy casting her own line into the water.

“Where did you, oh... right.” 'Dreaming.' Luna reminded herself.

“It's really pretty out here, was this your doing?” Ditzy asked as she looked over to Luna.

“No, well kinda, I'm not sure.” Luna began to blush again as she was unable to answer the question. She knew this was a dream but did dream Derpy know this was a dream?

“Its a little cold though.” Ditzy continued, giving a slight shudder.

Luna frowned at this. Why would the mare she cared about be uncomfortable in a dream she was so conscious in? She quickly remembered that she was used to being colder than most other ponies so her subconscious had adjusted the temperature as such. Maybe if she focused hard enough she could warm it up a bit for her. 'Or...' Luna thought. 'It is only a dream, its not like she is really here or anything, maybe...' “Hey Derpy, if you want... Well y-you could snuggle up with me over here, maybe that will help warm you up a bit.”

To Luna's surprise, Ditzy's cheeks actually began to glow a bit. “I mean, if you wouldn't mind.” Ditzy replied as she looked down at her fishing rod, absently reeling in some of her line.

“Of course I wouldn't.” Luna smiled at her shyness, despite the fact she was being quite bashful herself, if not more.

Ditzy hesitated just a moment before scooting closer to Luna, who unfurled her left wing to drape over her as they were as close as they could comfortably get to each other.

Ditzy purred at Luna's warmth, soft fur, and her warm feathers that were now resting across her back. Without thinking she nuzzled the Alicorn's neck and stopped mid nuzzle. “O-oh my, I'm so sorry.” She's gotten to comfortable to fast and immediately tried to pull away however Luna's wing stopped her. Ditzy looked over into Luna's eyes and noticed they were filled with uncertainty, while her cheeks were glowing.

“No your alright Derpy, that actually felt nice.” It was quite apparent to her that this dream Ditzy was attracted to her, but she figured that was solely due to her subconscious making it so because that was what she desired. 'This is good Luna, maybe just maybe telling this Derpy how you feel will alleviate your longing in the real world...' Luna tried to rationalize this in her head, it kinda seemed pathetic at first, but pathetic to who? This was her dream, she could do what she wanted. However her timidness got the better of her. 'Maybe later.' She decided.

As if knowing she needed a distraction her line from her fishing pole pulled taunt.

“I think you got one!” Ditzy cried, grateful for the distraction herself.

Luna pulled the line back and fought to reel it in, however whatever was on the other end was winning, even when she used her magic to assist her. She felt herself being pulled forward by the pole as she struggled to keep her seat on the mini moon. Suddenly she felt a pair of hooves over her own and looked over to see Ditzy had taken hold to help her. The pair of them finally began gaining ground so to speak on whatever beast had taken the bait.

“Ready? On three.” Ditzy stated. “One”

“Two.” Luna continued.

“Three!” They yelled in unison as they jerked the rod back. Out of the water flew a silver scaled fish that shone as bright as the stars around them. It was much smaller than either of them thought it would be and even more strange it was actually flying on its own silver wings and the line had disappeared from its mouth. It flew in a couple of awkward circles over the water at first, leaving behind a sparkling light. Instead of diving back into the water it flew up over their heads and off into the distance.

“Wow.” Ditzy whispered. “Beautiful.”

Luna had seen quite a bit in her lifetime but nothing quite like that. “Yeah...”

“L-Luna, I have a question.” Ditzy said without looking at her.

“I have an answer.” She replied giggling as the last light from the fish faded away.

“Why am I here?”

Luna was confused for a moment, the gears in her head turning as she glanced over at the blushing Pegasus. “What do you mean?”

“W-well, this is your dream right? Not that I mind, I really like it here, but why m-me? You could have anypony in your dreams, and here I am.”

Luna felt her face growing hot again. Even knowing this was a dream the question still left her speechless, but only for a moment. “Because...” She started, stopping as Ditzy turned to face her. 'Come on Luna, its not real, just tell her. Is not like your own subconscious is going to reject you.' Luna took a deep breath before answering. “Because I like you.”

“Like, Like me like me?” Ditzy asked hopefully.

Luna nodded her head and drew Ditzy in closer with her wing before wrapping her hooves around her in a hug.

Ditzy squealed happily and hugged her back. They shared the warmth from one another in their embrace.

“So, does that mean you like me back?” She felt dumb for asking her dream this but again, this was her dream.

“M-maybe this will answer your question.” She replied, pulling away from Luna and smiling weakly before closing her eyes and tilting her muzzle up to Luna's.

Luna almost didn't know what to do, in all her years she'd never shared a moment like this. She'd seen enough though. 'Just do it.' She told herself before closing her own eyes and leaning in to meet Ditzy half way.

All of a sudden Luna's eyes shot open. She was back in her bed with the morning's sun shining in through her window. “Ohhhhh sister whyyyyyyy?” She moaned. “So close to.” This was not one of those dreams she had wanted to end early.

This day went by same as the last, more of the same until finally she found her way back to her bed chambers for another night of blissful sleep. Maybe she'd have another dream.

Just before she was about to climb into bed however she heard a noise from her balcony. “What was that?” She asked herself, a bit irritated something was cutting into her night. She trotted outside and saw Ditzy standing there with her mail saddle bags but she was out of uniform. “D-Derpy? What are you doing here?” Luna stammered, Ditzy was the last pony she had expected to see.

“I, I just wanted to see you.” The gray Pegasus admitted, a timid smile and rose colored cheeks accompanied her demeanor. “I thought about you all day.”

“Y-you did?” Luna's resolve was quickly melting. This had been a lot easier last night. It didn't help that Ditzy had started walking toward her, until she was barely a wing away. Luna asked the only question she could think of. “How did you get past the guards?”

“Well, that's why I have my bags with me. I told them I had a special delivery for the princess, after they searched me they let me through. One of the perks of being the mail mare I guess.” She giggled nervously.

“A special delivery? What is it?”

Ditzy's face grew even redder before she sighed. “Luna, could you close your eyes for me... please?”

Luna blinked a couple of times at the strange request. She trusted Ditzy though so it was not a problem, though she couldn't help wondering if Ditzy could see the color in her face beneath her dark fur. Without another word Luna closed her eyes as she was asked. A few seconds passed by, and she felt something brush against her muzzle. She peeked to see Ditzy was close, really close, her muzzle was closer and her own eyes were closed but she was frozen with timidness. Luna herself was blushing madly at this point, her heart raced but the moment had caught up to her. Without thinking she pressed her lips to Ditzy's kissing her and enticing a quiet squeak of surprise from the mare. They stayed that way for a moment, which seemed like an eternity.

When they finally broke apart Ditzy slowly opened her eyes. Her next words shocked Luna. “Does that answer your question?”

“B-but h-how? That was a dream.”

“I know, I didn't understand it either, but I didn't try to. I was there.” Ditzy replied.

“So... you really do... like me?” Luna hesitantly asked.

Ditzy giggled and nodded her head. “Yes, That's why I couldn't wait to see you, I hadn't known how you felt about me until last night.”

“I suppose, I suppose it really doesn't matter how then does it?” Luna replied. 'She knows now, and That's wonderful.' She thanked whatever magic was responsible for their shared dream, making it possible for the two to come together. “H-hey uh... its kinda chilly, and I would hate for you to fly all they way back to Ponyville at this time... Would you like to stay with me for the night?”

“Are you sure?” Ditzy asked.

“Yes, I want you to, well, if you'd like to.”

“I'd love to.”
