chapter one: welcome to Shetland City

Previous Chapter

When I awoke, I was in a wheeled cage being led by a big red stallion. He looked very strong, so I had the feeling that he did this sort of thing all the time. He was whistling some strange, unknown tune, as he walked along. He didn't talk alot, so I figured he didn't have much to say. Then again, there was no one else around but me. He was also pretty tall for a pony, and had no horns or wings, so I knew he was an earth pony. After a while of boredom, I decided to take in my surroundings. There was a sign that said welcome to Shetland City along with many trees and flowers everywhere. As we descended along the dirt path, the wilderness slowly turned into a large city. There were shops everywhere, ponies reading the newspaper, ponies selling things, and ponies walking their pets. I was really starting to get uncomfortable with all of these ponies around me. I needed to escape. While brooding throughout this whole time, I forgot that Fuzz was in my pocket. She then stuck her head out, and gave me a mischievous grin. She stuck out one of the claws of he paw, and wiggled it b the lock. After a few minutes, the lock gave a satisfying click. I then lowered my voice, so no one would here me ( because, if I didn't then they would know I was awake, and that would ruin our escape ), and said "Fuzz, let's try to be as quiet as we can. Hop into my pocket, and I'll jump out of this thing, and if that pony doesn't hear us we'll be home free." She nodded in agreement, and hopped n my pocket, and I jumped out of the cage. Miraculously, I landed without falling, and quickly ran off. "Fuzz, I'm so excited, now we can go home!!!" It was then that I realised that I had no idea which direction home was, or how far it was. I then gave a sigh of defeat, and realized that we would have to find somewhere to stay for the night, as it was getting late, and figure something out tomorrow. We would also have to avoid ponies. There were so many ponies here, that I didn't know what to do. Then it hit me. Go to a place where no pony would want to go to. I then very cautiously looked around, then made my move. I dashed to an open alleyway between two stores, and Fuzz and I decided that would be our home for the time being. As I was about to sleep, my stomach rumbled and I realised how hungry I was, so I looked in a trash can to try and find leftover food from the stores. Unfortunately, there was nothing edible, so I told Fuzz that I would be back in a while and left to look for food. I wandered into a nearby park, where I had seen a river with clean water in it. I cupped up my hands, then drank my fill. I then realised how thirsty Fuzz must be as well, and made a small bowl out of whatever I could find in my surroundings. My life in the forest had taught me many things. I filled it up, and was about to go look for food, when I saw a pony. She was a unicorn with orange fur and a dark purple mane. By the looks of  it she was mad too. Then she saw me. After what seemed like hours of being chased, I finely escaped, and found my way back to the alley. I then went to sleep hungry, and my last thought was that my welcome to Shetland City wasn't so welcoming.
