A beast crawled through the darkened forest. It barely made a sound as it crawled through the underbrush. The cat tested the ground with each paw before it set it down. It was on the hunt and it didn't want to startle its quarry. It was hunting ponies. They were easily startled. It suddenly caught the scent of something like a pony but not quite one. The beast decided to see what it was. It followed the scent letting it lead the way towards food. Within a few minutes it spotted a dark figure. It slowed itself down and got low to the ground.
It then slowly weaved through the tall trees of the Everfree stalking its prey. A certain zebra called Zecora was out collecting plants for a potion. It wasn't a pony but it'll do. It had to eat some kind of meat before the night ended or bad things could happen. The hungry beast followed her every move waiting for the right time to strike. If it leaped to soon the zebra would be able to escape her grasp . She had to time her pounce perfectly if she wanted dinner. She may not have any other chances like this tonight.
The zebra turned around unaware of the creature stalking her. Now The beast thought. A low growl escaped her mouth as she prepared to lunge. Zecora heard this but it was to late. The beast leaped and extended its paws along with its needle like claws. It managed to get one of its paws and claws lodged on to the zebra's flank. Zecora tried to run for a moment then managed to kick it in the face with her hind legs. The beast let out a yowl and loosened its grip it a little. It was just enough to let Zecora shake it off her make a run for it.
The cat tried to chase down the zebra but it was too far ahead. Werecats knew when they were defeated. The cat slowed itself down and took a moment to catch its breath. Its panting made a few rabbits near by run away in fear. Once its energy was back It sighed and began to make its way towards Ponyville. It didn't like to wander into the village but it had no choice. It hadn't eaten flesh on over a month. It needed meat now while the full moon was shining. It began to weave through the trees silently again.
When the cat reached the end of the forest it looked around to make sure no pony was around. She didn't expect anyone but she had to make sure. No pony knew about her and she wanted to keep it that way. Not even the few other werecats in the town knew she existed. Once the coast was clear she made run for it. She bounded silently through the dimly lit streets of Ponyville. Once she reached the side of a building she darted on to a crate then on to the roof of. It winced at the small noises it made. If some pony discovered her she was dead meat. She just knew it. Then the thought of dead meat made her refocus on hunting.
The panther like animal bounded from building to building scanning the streets below for any potential prey. It only saw a few birds pecking at a bug in the middle of the road. It continued to make its way around the small town cursing every tiny sound it made. The cat began to slow down and eventually stopped all together. There wasn't even a tuft of fur among the streets. It was hopeless. The cat cursed to itself and prepared to leap down from the roof.
"Oh Applejack, did I ever tell you how pretty you are?" The cat quickly looked around for the source of the sound. She then heard the voice again.
"So you want to kiss me now? This all seems a bit sudden...but I like it!" She then heard kissing noises. The panther like animal looked up. There was a blue Pegasus with rainbow colored hair sleeping on a cloud. She seemed to be kissing a teddy bear. The cat chuckled a little to herself. Sometimes ponies were so adorable. Too bad she had to eat them. The cat then began to evaluate the situation. She couldn't just sit around and observe this cute little pony. The sun would be up soon ans she needed some food.
The cloud was pretty low so she could probably reach the pony if she leaped high enough. She nodded to herself. Now what killing method should she use...She looked at the position the the Pegasus. It was lying on its side with a fore leg wrapped around the brown teddy bear. It was hard to decide what method to use. There were too many of them for her to decide on just one. And they were all so good... She ended up deciding to drag her to the ground then quickly finish her off with a quick nip to the back of her neck. That way the Pegasus wouldn't feel too much pain during her death and it would be quick. Now what direction should she leap from? She thought about how the werewolves do it....No she thought. Never hunt like werewolves.
They simply chased down the pony and killed it. They didn't care about the pony's pain during death or anything. They were savages of the beast world. Pure savages. Its no wonder that they often go hungry for months because their hunting method fails. The cat then looked up and realized that the sun would soon be up. Really soon. Buck it, I gotta eat! The beast lowered itself and began to wiggle its hips, preparing to lunge. It then let out a ear piercing cry as it leaped up towards the cloud where its prey rested. This, of course, woke up Rainbow Dash.
"Twilight! I was having a good dr- OH SH*T!" The cat darted through the air and got high enough to push Rainbow Dash off the cloud. It wasn't to high so it didn't hurt the cyan Pegasus too bad. The cat landed on its feet while Rainbow Dash landed on her side. she let out a little moan of pain. The panther quickly leaped on to Rainbow and pinned her down by her wings. Rainbow dash tried to escape but it was no use. She was caught. But that didn't stop her from weakly kicking the cat in her belly with her hind legs. The cat grinned deviously.
"Don't even bother. Soon you'll be in my stomach and there's nothing you can do about it. I recommend you close your eyes and brace yourself for your certain doom," Rainbow dash thought the voice sounded familiar. But she focused on escaping. She tried struggling for a few more minutes but eventually did what the cat said. What else was there to do when about to be killed by a vicious pony eating cat?
"There, that wasn't to hard," The cat then felt some heat on her shoulder. She also saw a beam of light shining on the pony's blue fur. She looked up in confusion. It was the sun. Looks like i'll have to settle for a rabbit. She thought with a frown. She had been looking forward to a proper dinner for a werecat tonight. The cat jumped off of a very scared Rainbow Dash and bolted towards the forest. After a few seconds of waiting Rainbow Dash slowly opened one eye. She nearly passed out with relief when she saw that the cat was running back towards where it came from. She opened both of eyes and got to her feet. She watched the gray figure run off.
"And don't come back!" She yelled and it became smaller and smaller. The cat made it in to the forest just in time. She paused for a moment in the safety of the trees and panted. But then the tingling happened. Looks like no rabbit tonight. She saw her gray paw turn orange and lose all of its toes. She closed her eyes for the rest of the transformation. Within a minute her memory of the night was lost to her. Applejack got up and rubbed a hoof on her neck.
"What happened? And why the hay am I in the forest!" Rainbow Dash heard Applejack's voice and quickly ran over to her.
"Applejack, get out of there!" She yelled. She then dragged the farm pony out of the forest in a heart beat. Applejack looked up at the worried Rainbow Dash in confusion.
"Why are you so scared all of the sudden?"
"An over sized panther that could talk attacked me!" Applejack raised an eyebrow. There was only one reason why Rainbow Dash would be in the road at first thing in the morning and be rambling on about beasts.
"Did you drink last night?"
"Maybe..." Applejack sighed.
"Well it was probably just yer Imagination. Now how about breakfast at my place?" Rainbow Dash nodded. The two ponies began to make their way to Sweet Apple Acres. Applejack saw still very confused but for some reason she didn't want to ask Twilight or anything. It was almost like she knew why but just couldn't remember....
