Mr Happyface, Lost and Found

Chapter two: Mr Happyface, lost and found.
Fluttershy was heading towards home after a very eventful morning at Twilight’s library. Her head was high as she trotted along the outskirts of Ponyville. Humming a tune, she touched the edge of a puddle with her hoof and stopped. Fluttershy spread her wings and smiled.
“A hop,” she bent down slightly. “A skip, and a jump!”
With that said she flew over the puddle and landed on the other side.
Fluttershy laughed, “I guess it really was that easy!”
She continued on her path again, watching the scenery go by as her home got closer and closer. It was such a beautiful day. The skies were clear and all of Fluttershy’s songbirds were out to fill the day with their beautiful music.
The Pegasus pony was about to step on the bridge leading to her cottage, when one of her birds flew towards her in a state of panic. This one Fluttershy had met in the Everfree forest not too long ago. He looked worried and flapped his wings in a nervous manner, as if to warn her of something.
“What’s wrong? Slow down please.”
The bird flew down to the ground and caught his breath. With his wing he pointed towards the Everfree forest.
Fluttershy looked towards the forest. “Is something wrong in the forest?”
Over in that same direction, three fillies ran. They ran towards Ponyville.
“Oh my…” said Fluttershy, a little worried.
Her eyes darkened as she observed the crusaders gallop away from the Everfree forest. Her gaze followed them until they were out of sight. What were they doing in there? Fluttershy’s thoughts drifted back to that time at the school with Miss Cheerilee. The Crusaders had been there too; running, just like this.
“Okay little one, fly on back home now.” The bird tilted its head and continued to stare at Fluttershy, worried. “Don’t you worry now, I’ll go take care of it.”
With that said, the bird flew back towards the forest and Fluttershy would have to wait a little longer before she could return home. Hopefully, Angel Bunny wouldn’t mind waiting an extra half hour to eat breakfast.
~The Everfree Forest~
Flutter was no longer scared of the Everfree forest. She had a pretty good idea where the three fillies had been the night before.
“Zecora.” She said out loud.
Along the path to Zecora’s hut, Jimmies rustled in the bushes around her but she didn’t care. A short while later, Fluttershy arrived at the hut’s door. She looked up at the door and took a deep breath before opening it. She peeked inside but it was too dark to see anything but the warm, natural glow of some of Zacora’s potions and herbal mixtures. The Everfree forest sure was a strange place.
Fluttershy slowly entered the hut; she could barely see anything but the shadowy outlines of the vials, cauldron, and various other objects in the room.
“Zecora?” There was a hint of worry in Fluttershy’s voice. She walked forward and stepped on something slippery. “Eeeeeeeek!”
Flutter lost her balance and started slipping all over the floor, her wings flapped and eventually she took flight. Her jumpy reflexes, however, caused her to fly a little too high and she bumped her head on a jar of sleeping fireflies.
The room lit, and as soon as Fluttershy had stopped shaking her head, she opened her eyes. Now she could see what she had slipped on. It was blood and bits of Zecora’s half eaten brain. The cauldron was tipped over not too far away from the dead zebra.
“Oh my!” Her hooves covered her eyes for a quick moment before she slowly peeked over.
What happened here? Who could be murdering these friends of hers? First Miss Cheerilee, now Zecora? Fluttershy landed back on solid ground. It was all very clear now. The Cutie Mark Crusaders. Any regular pony should be sick to their stomachs at the thought of the three innocent fillies going off on a murdering spree, but she hadn’t exactly been good either.
Fluttershy had feared this would happen. That sensation was back, that sickening but desirable sensation was back. This time however, it faded. Confused, but slightly relieved, Fluttershy walked towards the carcass. Flies had started to fly around the cracked opened skull, its contents spilled all over the now stained floor. It was much like an egg.
Upon closer inspection, Fluttershy noticed that something was missing. She leaned forward to get a better look. Yes, the brain was half gone… Or half eaten.
Flashes of Twilight’s niece and Miss Cheerilee pushed themselves into the pony’s mind. She shook her head but they kept coming. They teased her. They tormented her. They excited her. They drove her insane.
“No! No! No!” she brought her head down onto the floor with unrelenting force. “No! No! No! No! NO! This can’t happen again!”
She continued to pound her head on the floor until a warm oozing liquid began to slide down her forehead. Her breathing increased and soon she began to feel lightheaded. The room began to spin and those memories kept haunting her. She fell to the ground with a loud thud. Sound asleep.
~~
Several hours passed by since she had knocked herself out. The young pegasus slowly opened her eyes. It took a few blinks before the room came into focus – as dark as it was. Fluttershy tried to lift her head but a pounding headache brought her back to the floor. She rolled onto her back and rested her hoof on her bloodstained forehead.
She moaned in pain. Her body felt stiff, but she had to do something about Zecora. The least she could do was protect Sweetiebelle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom, right? Or maybe she just hoped for more ponies to turn up dead to satisfy her unnatural and morbid fetish. The coroners would probably be investigating the unfortunate death of Miss Cheerilee at that very moment, and it wouldn’t be long before everypony started to notice Zecora’s disappearance. After all, she did go shop in the Market every week for supplies.
Fluttershy struggled to get back on her hooves. She clenched her teeth and ignored the pain. She walked to the dead zebra’s body and sorted through the possibilities. Finally, the best option came forth.
Flutter pushed the cauldron upright and took a deep breath. She would have to do this quick before anypony caught her and blamed her for the crime.
“There must be something around here somewhere with a cutting edge.” She trotted around the room and looked through every cabinet. Nothing.
However, it wasn’t long before Fluttershy found Zecora’s supply box. In it, she found a machete. Zecora must have used it to cut through difficult terrain on her never-ending hunt for supplies. It wasn’t very sharp but it would do.
She dropped the machete next to Zecora and gave a slight nod of approval. Fluttershy bent down and bit down on the zebra’s back leg, pulling it towards the cauldron. After a few minutes of struggling, the body was inside the thick metal container. Fluttershy took the machete between her teeth and began to violently hack at the dead zebra’s body. In almost no time at all, legs started to detach from the torso and the neck was almost severed. Blood made its way to the bottom of the cauldron and soon Zecora looked like a zebra soup.
Fluttershy dragged the cauldron out the back door to the swamp. There, she tipped the container over and spilled its contents into the thick, muddy mush. At least here, it would blend in a little more. All she could do now was go back home.
