Time goes on forever, but memories are never forgotten
Never Forget
Load Full StoryIt was a very sunny day in Canterlot. Not a cloud in the sky, every thing was peaceful. Everypony was in joying their day, like shopping, hanging out at cafés, or just sitting around talking. But all the cheerfulness and the great weather didn't affect a purple and green dragon. He was a full dragon, his tail long, as are his legs, arms, and neck. He had wings and his snout had one very grim express and his eyes looked sad. Being how tall he was he had to walk around on all fours. To tourist he looked fierce but to the locals he was harmless because they often see him and look sad and take pity on him. When he first started showing up they tried giving him big gems that to other dragons they would gladly take but he would always refuse and keep walking.
This dragon was on his way to a very dark and sad place that not many ponies often went to, only on certain occasions. But this dragon is very familiar with this area of Cantorlot. As the dragon was walking he remembered a Time when he first came here, there was lots of sadness and crying happening even the princesses were shedding tears. The dragon shook his head trying to make the memory go into the vault wanting to forget. The dragon stopped and looked up and read the sign for what seemed like the billionth time.
CANTORLOT CEMETERY. And under that is-PLEASE RESPECT THOSE WHO REST HERE. The dragon entered the cemetery, walking to the big shrine that was set-up in the back. The Shrine had balloons, steamers, and pictures of all the ponies buried here. As the dragon looked at the shrine he had more awful memories. "NNNNOOOO NOT AGAIN I CAN'T- I-" A tear dropped down the dragon's face, it happened every time he looked at it. But each more horrific than the last it never stopped because he never stopped coming he never will. The dragon walked to the five tombstones spread around. He sat down and looked at the first one it read- FLUTTERSHY (engraved butterfly) "Be kind to yourself then you can be kind to others. "FRIEND, ANIMAL CARETAKER, ELEMENT OF KINDNESS The dragon remembered a time when he and Fluttershy helped the her feed her animals. It was the evening and they had just finished feeding her last animal that normally would've taken till mourning for her.
"Oh thank you so much for helping me feed the animals Spike,." she gently said to him as he was putting the porcupine food back in the shed that contained all of Fluttershy's animal equipment.
"It was nothing really just doing my part of being your friend Flutters,." Spike replied back to her while shutting and locking the door.
Fluttershy had died from when she got turned into a bat. It had a negative affect on her body and when she had that energy boost from fighting Tirek she didn't last long. What the magic did was rot her form the inside out. while her organs did change back to one of a pony's, something remained... something indescribable. Spike looked at the grave next to Fluttershy's. It read-RAINBOWDASH (engraved lighting bolt) "If it wasn't for friendship I won't be as loyal as I am today. "FRIEND, WONDERBOLT, ELEMENT OF LOYALTY. Spike again thought of a time when he and Rainbow were training. The day was sunny and cloudless. Spike and Rainbowdash were racing, while breaking in Spike's fresh new wings he got last week.
"COME ON SPIKE, YOU HAVE TO GO FASTER IF YOU WANT TO BEAT ME!" She yelled to Spike a little ways ahead of him.
"OH YEAH! WELL LETS SEE ABOUT THAT WHEN YOUR EATING MY AFTER DRAFT RAINBOW,!" Spike had yelled in reply as he but all he had to beat her with. How Rainbowdash had died was when she was trying out a new trick that caused a surprise side ways sonic rainboom that made her slam right in to a cliff, breaking every single bone in her body.
Spike looked at the next grave. It read-APPLEJACK (engraved apple) "Being true to others makes for powerful friendships." FRIEND, FARMER, ELEMENT OF HONESTY. Spike thought back when he and Applejack were bucking apples. It was late afternoon when the got done. After three days they had finally got done harvesting all the apples in a sector of the field.
"There finally done Thankya kindly Sugercube, for all yer help." Applejack said to Spike as he loaded up the last bucket on to the cart, whipping some sweat form his forehead
"Ah Applejack, it was nothing." Applejack had actually worked herself to death, over working her heart till it just stopped and she fell to the ground. Spike looked to the grave that hurt his heart the most every time he came here. It read-RARITY (engraved diamond) "I wouldn't be a lady if I didn't reward those who deserve it." FRIEND, FASHION DESIGHNER, ELEMENT OF GENREROSITY. Spike remembered when they were shopping at Ponyville. It was a beautiful day in the market place in this tiny town.
"Thank you again Darling for helping me carry all these bags back to my boutique for me." Rarity Said to Spike, Who was currently trying to balance an insanely tall stack of wrapped boxes.
"No problem Rarity I would do any thing fer me Milady." Spike replied with a bit of an accent at the end. Rarity in turn then giggled. "Oh Spike, such a gentledrake as always. Rarity had died by tripping in her "organized chaos" Falling on a pile of gems she was using, puncturing her everywhere on her body. Spike looked at the final tombstone, It read-PINKIEPIE (engraved balloon) Laughter is the best medicine I cross my heart hope to fly stick a cupcake in my eye!"Spike remembered when they were about to pull a prank on Princess Celestia herself. They were in the Main Hall of the castle.
"Ok Spikey, I walk up to her and distract her while you walk behind her and yell boo got it?" Pinkie whispered to spike behind a pillar.
"You got it Pinkie." Spike replied with a thumbs-up. Pinkie had died when she had a massive sugar rush caused by all the sweets she ate and how her heart exploded on the inside of her. It was night and Spike looked at all the graves in front of him and how long its been with out them.
"You know Spike, its alright if you try to move on." Said a voice. Spike turned to see a lavender alicorn known as Princess Twilight Sparkle, looking at him with a sad smile. Spike didn't respond, he didn't talk anymore really, instead he laid his head down and closed his eyes. "You don't have to forget them just... I hate seeing you like this Spike." She sat down next to him, he didn't respond. "It has been five hundred years Spike. I don't want your days to end like this." Twilight too laid her head down on Spike. But immediately new something was wrong. all the warmth was gone form his face and body that's strange because he is a dragon after all. Twilight looked at Spike's face he looked calm and happy and also peaceful. Then it hit her, a single tear dropped down from her face. "Good night Spike." She whispered in his ear as she kissed his forehead and walked away. "Sweet dreams."
