Chapters In the deepest chambers of Canterlot's laboratory, Celestia awaits her project's final test.
Celestia sends in 5 of her strongest guards to face off against the warrior known as "The Guardian". The guards are also equipped with extra armor, seeing as how the last test got a little out of hand and ended with 2 of the guards dead, 2 limping, and another banging on the glass, begging to be let out.
The guards enter the testing chamber and Celestia approaches the glass, and begins to speak through a small hole in it. Guardian can be seen sitting in a corner, it's eyes closed. "Guardian." Celestia speaks. It's eyes open, to reveal no pupils, it's eyes glowing a ghostly white, resonating with raw power. "Attack." Celestia says to it's direction.
It begins to rise, in the process, the sickening cracking of bones can be heard. The guards begin to exchange fearful glances to one another. The Guardian begins to slowly approach the guards, it begins to stare at the guards, and then vanishes. The guards begin to take on a defensive strategy, searching the room for any signs of the creature. However, when the guards find absolutely no trace of the creature, it reappeared and slammed it's fist into the back of one of the guard's head, knocking him unconscious and sending him flying towards the wall.
All 4 guards charge after the creature at this point, but as The Guardian sees this coming, it concentrates it's energy and releases a shock wave, knocking all of the guards against the wall, knocking them out as well. Pleased with the final test's results, Celestia speaks to The Guardian once again, "Guardian. Rest." It instantly sat down and closed it's eyes. After making sure that The Guardian was asleep, she sends a few scientists to get her guards out of the chamber.
Celestia trots out of the lab, the warm air giving her a happy feeling on the inside, however, she began to shiver at the thought that something was wrong. After the guards were removed from the chamber, Celestia steps towards the small hole she uses to contact The Guardian, and begins to speak, "Guardian, I sense a dark power beginning to rise. I also know that I cannot keep you locked up in here forever..." Her sentence trails off as The Guardian gets up and begins to walk towards the glass and stares back at her. "So I'm letting you go. Under one condition, you must protect my subjects at all costs. Do you understand your task?" It rests it's hand on the glass, still staring back at her. She knew that it was only agreeing to what she was saying, so Celestia lifted her foreleg and rested her hoof on the glass. Something about this being made her feel protected.
After a few moments, she lowers her foreleg back onto solid ground and begins to make her way towards the security panel. She looks back towards The Guardian, who is still standing in the same spot, staring at her. She looks back towards the panel, and in one movement, pushes the button that activates the door holding the creature inside. The door slides open. Then it stepped out. It stood at equal height with Celestia, and appeared to be a boy. It held the appearance of a teenage human. It was wearing a black jacket and black pants and black shoes. A heavy silence hung in the air before Celestia spoke, "Welcome to Equestria, Guardian." A few seconds after that, Celestia's horn began to glow. "I'm teleporting you to Ponyville, I recommend you make friends with the ponies that live there." The Guardian nods, and is teleported to Ponyville.
Of all of the places Guardian could have been teleported to, he wouldn't have expected to find himself at a tree. However, this tree had a door and windows. Before he could observe the tree any further, he found himself knocking on the door. The door swung open and staring back at him with a horrified expression was Twilight Sparkle, the librarian. She screamed and slammed the door. Sticking his ear on the door, he could hear her speaking to a male inside. "Spike, there is some... THING at the door!"
She said, in which the voice replied, "Oh Twilight, you're probably overreacting, here let me check." Guardian quickly moved his ear away from the door and awaited the obvious second swing of the door. There stood a small dragon, staring back at him. "Okay, definitely not overreacting..."
Spike stood frozen with the door open. Seconds later, a deep, dark voice began to speak inside his head, "There is no need to fear me, I was sent by Celestia to protect the inhabitants of Ponyville."
And then the voice trailed off, leaving Spike's mouth agape in amazement. Spike turns back towards the door and says to Twilight, "Twilight! He's friendly and he's royalty!"
Twilight replied, "He was sent by Celestia?" Spike nodded and opened the door enough to let the bipedal creature in. As The Guardian walked in, Twilight couldn't help but stare. This however, didn't go unnoticed. The Guardian turned it's head towards Twilight, staring back at her. Twilight moved her gaze towards the ground, a blush apparent on her cheeks.
Twilight then lifts her head back up, "I guess now would be the best time to introduce ourselves. My name is Twilight Sparkle."
She extends her hoof towards him, in which he grips, and holds for a few seconds. She slowly begins to pull away, until a dark voice interrupts her movement, "Nice to meet you, I'm The Guardian, but you can call me Guardian."
She instantly begins to question him, "You can speak telepathically?" Her eyes wide with wonder.
The small dragon interrupts Twilight's questioning and holds out his claw. "Hi. I'm Spike."

After shaking Spike's claw, Guardian took a moment to survey his surroundings, noticing that there were books everywhere. Never having a hobby before, he began to wonder if he would take an interest into them.
Twilight, noticing Guardian was distracted, rushed Spike into the kitchen, Spike, slightly annoyed asked, "What is it, Twilight?"
Twilight began to hyperventilate, "Spike, what do I do? If anypony sees this thing, they'll panic!"
"Relax, Twilight." Spike reminded. "We don't want that day you were tardy to repeat itself, now do we?"
"Spike!" Twilight yelled at the dragon.
Spike chuckled, "I'm kidding, Twi, I've got this all under control."
Spike begins to walk out of the kitchen and stands at the entrance of it, "Guardian, you're staying with us tonight!"
Guardian turns his head and gives the dragon an empty stare.
Twilight pulls Spike back into the kitchen, "Spike! Why would you say that? I can't sleep with some...CREATURE in our house!"
Spike gives Twilight a warm smile and says, "Twilight, he was sent by the Princess for a reason..."
Twilight tries to complain more, but gives up, "Yeah, I guess you have a point Spike. But why did the Princess send him?"
Spike shrugs and walks out of the kitchen, alongside Twilight. Guardian, sensing their arrival, lifts his gaze from the floor to the lavender mare and the dragon. "Guardian, you are free to stay here for the night. Tomorrow I'll think of a way to tell the girls." Said Twilight.
Guardian didn't know who she was referring to, but nodded anyway. As Guardian stood up, he used his powers to speak, "Which room am I staying in?"
Twilight replied, "You can sleep on that couch if you want to."
Guardian walked towards it and laid down on it. He almost instantly fell asleep, where hellish nightmares began to haunt him...
All the Guardian saw was darkness. Something about being alone put him at peace, almost as if he were made to be this way. Almost like his cell back in the laboratory.
Soon, he found himself walking, where to, it didn't matter nor did he know. He came upon a door, with a dancing light beneath it. He opened the door, and froze at what awaited him.
Charred bodies, burning flesh, skeletons, all of ponies with armor were littered all over a burning field. At the other side of it, an army of what he could describe as insects and in front of those stood a bipedal dark figure, the distinct lack of facial features made it appear to be a shadow.
Before he knew it, the hellish landscape around him began to crumble and eventually fell apart. He continued his slow descent into the darkness, until he saw the bipedal creature appear in front of him. It slowly began to smirk at him, flashing it's vampire-like teeth for a second and it's expression turned serious, as it began to speak in a dark and menacing tone, "You defend these ponies... how foolish of you..."
"Join me, and I will give you freedom, you will no longer be under Celestia's control, you will be free at last." He finishes.
"I'd rather die." Said Guardian as he fault an all too familiar feeling.
The feeling that he didn't have control of his actions. He was being controlled by Celestia. And before he knew it, he was rearing his fist back, and flung it at the demonic being.
The being recoiled and fell to the ground, "You are foolish..."
"But if you are in a hurry to die, so be it." He finishes as he lunges at Guardian, swiping at him with his claws.
Guardian is able to block most of the demon's attempts to attack him, but one. The demon scratches at Guardian's chest, successfully leaving three long lacerations and drawing a large amount of blood, and awaking the Guardian out of a dead sleep.
Guardian's cries of pain and agony did not go unnoticed, as Twilight Sparkle herself woke up from it. She began to process what she was hearing, and hurriedly got out of bed. She began her short walk down the stairs and did not expect to see what she saw.
Guardian was struggling to remain conscious, as his wounds began to take a toll on him. He fell to one knee clutching his chest as he felt faint, but he kept fighting it.
Twilight began to grow worried and spoke up, "Guardian, what's wrong?"
He froze as he heard her voice. Something about it sparked something inside him, and his scleras began to turn blood red. She began to trot towards him, but he used the rest of the strength he could muster to stand up, still clutching his blood drenched wound.
She continued walking towards him, until he stuck his hand up, revealing a glowing red sphere of energy.
"I'LL KILL YOU! STAY BACK!" He yelled in an extremely dark tone as he pointed the ball of energy at Twilight.
Twilight began to summon a magical shield, when the red sphere faded from his hands, his scleras returning to their normal white color, as he fell to the ground, cold.
