The feeling of a warm breeze on a summer's day, the grass between your toes, and the sun gently caressing your skin in a comforting warmth. Today was the perfect day to lay on your back and just stare at the near-clear blue sky. My name is Oculus, I am five foot eleven and 16 years old with light brown hair and a slightly tanned skin. My eyes are a very light blue with a grey sunburst inside of my iris. As for my clothes I generally wear brown Nike winter shoes, dark blue jeans, a white under-shirt, and a black jacket. My foster family gave me this name when they first adopted me. And even though my mother died giving birth to me and my father commited suicide soon after, I'm still a happy teenager.

My current foster family, the McMillans, were the first people to jump at the offer of taking me in, it was on my thirteenth birthday. They live on a farm that has approximately one hundred acres of land. And honestly, I love it here. The McMillans let me run around and help pick the apples from the trees, milk the cow, collect the eggs, and help out with any other work that needs to be done around here. It's very peaceful here, we rarely get any bad storms or bandits. On the border of the farm is trees of all kinds, though most of them are covered in apples before harvest day. Within the border is mostly green fields and pastures. Another great feature about this place is they have cable! Every Saturday I get up early and do my chores quickly so I can watch the new episode of My Little Pony. Just being able to see the near-perfect world of Equestria is what gets me through the corruption of the world.

"Oculus, it's time for lunch!" I hear Mary call for me with her slight southern twang of hers. It always makes me smile just hearing it. Quickly I open my eyes and jump up from the soft grassy hill I was resting on and run down towards the house, today they were cooking hamburgers and baked beans with sweet tea to drink. When I got inside I took my seat at the table and said my blessings before digging in to my meal. "So, Oculus, your mother and I were thinking about taking a family vacation, what do you think about coming with us?" It only took me a moment to think it over. I nodded my head and gave a muffled sound of agreement through a mouthful of food. "Great, we'll be going tonight, it's going to be at Daytona Beach, Florida!" I nearly choked on my beans when Jack said that. He had to smack me on the back a few times to get it down. "Thanks Jack. I've never been to a beach before, let alone swimming! Are you sure this is going to be a good idea?" Both Jack and Mary assured me it would be fine so long as I didn't go out too far. After that we all ate in silence for the rest of lunch.

"-No more bottles of pop on the waaaaaaalll!" All three of us belted out the end of the seemingly endless tune. I leaned forward and turned the radio on to Kicks 101.5 after my two adoptive parents had gone silent, Big Green Tractor was just starting up. Sighing I leaned my elbow on the door and rested my chin in my palm, staring at the trees and signs we passed. Looking a little ahead I saw the sign that said 'Welcome to Florida!' and smiled, we were almost to the hotel and I could already taste the salt in the air. The warm sun was shining right in my face so I decided to retrieve my sunglasses from my side pocket and put them on however, my vision was so sensitive that they barely helped any.

After we had checked into the hotel and set our bags down on the beds Mary and Jack decided it would be best to go swimming. I reluctantly followed, never having prior swimming deeper than seven feet, but when we arrived at the beach sighed relaxed a bit. There was a long rope going all the way around the water being submerged above the water by buoys. The area where the rope was reached only about six to seven feet below the water. I left my foster parents with a smile and ran into the water, not even thinking about passing the guard line. I was having a joyous time splashing the water around with Mary and Jack until I suddenly felt dizzy and drowsy. My eyes became heavy and my legs moved on their own, slowly forcing me to walk towards the other side of the rope. I wanted to resist it, to keep as far away from the deep end of the ocean as I could but at the same time I had this desire, no, this need to go towards it. I lifted up the rope and began swimming forward slowly. My vision began flooding with the color green, little waves flickered over it almost like a small fire engulfing my eyes. I thought I heard someone calling my name but I pushed it to the back of my mind, only focusing on getting out to the wherever it was I was heading. My eyes widened as I came to my senses and I plunged straight down like a rock. Something had my ankle...

I fought hard against it with all of my might , trying desperately to kick free and get whatever it was that had my ankle in a vice grip off. I kicked and squirmed until I felt something sharp slice horizontally across the center of my back. I felt it scrape my spine and I completely lost the ability to move, all of the air I had saved just flowed out of my lungs and into the airless ocean waters. As water filled my lungs I wanted to scream, hoping that someone would come to save me. But I knew it was pointless, I had hit the bottom of the ocean already. The burning sensation in my lungs stopped as quickly as it had begun, leaving me with that same drowsy feeling I had felt earlier. I needed to sleep, just for a little while. I could keep trying to swim up later. Slowly my eyes drifted shut.

The first thing I noticed after regaining consciousness was two quiet voices. I decided to continue to act as if I were asleep so I could overhear the mystery captors. After a moment of honing my ears in on their voices I could easily tell that they were female. The woman on nearer to the left had a rather large vocabulary, using big words such as Omnivorous, Bipedal, Et Cetera. The woman nearer to the right, however, while not sounding ignorant was not using quite as large of a vocabulary. Her voice sounded much sweeter and far more concerned than the bookworm on the other side of the room. After another moment of listening to them speaking I hear what sounded like heels clacking against the floor and approaching rather quickly. I guess they weren't as far away as I had originally assumed. Once they arrived by my side I could hear what they were saying a lot easier.

"I know, I know. I just wanted to run a few simple tests to prove my hypothesis of its dietary habits. It would only take a moment and no harm would come to it." The bookworm stated, making a little anger rise inside me at being called an 'it.' Opening my eyes I'm getting ready to tell these people off for their lack of manners, however, once I open my eyes I notice something strange about these people, this being that they aren't people! On my left I see a short unicorn with a dark blue mane with a purple and pink stripe down the center, her tail matching. The coat of this unicorn is lavender, my favorite shade of purple, and right behind her flanks on her thigh is a strange symbol made up of white stars with a large purple star in the center. Turning my head slowly to the left I see a yellow Pegasus that's about the same size, only a little shorter. Her mane was light pink with a slight curl in the bangs. On her thigh I could see three small pink butterflies in the shape of a triangle. Thankfully they were turned mostly away from me so I hadn't been spotted awake, thank goodness because I'm pretty sure I had a dumb look on my face. I was in Equestria...

Much to my chagrin Fluttershy (after my brain started working again I was able to recall their names) turned around to check on me. "I trust you Twilight, I just think it would be best to wait until he wa-" She cut herself off as her eyes landed on me staring at her, Twilight Sparkle turned around after seeing Fluttershy's face. "Fluttershy...back up slowly, if it tries to attack I'll put it to sleep." Fluttershy ignored her warnings and began to slowly advance on me. Until this moment I didn't realize I was shaking with fear this entire time. As she got closer fearful thoughts began to run through my head.

She's going to kill you!

This is an illusion!

Death should not have taken thee...

"It's okay little guy, you don't have to be afraid of me. I promise we're just here to take care of you."Fluttershy Said, trying to coax me into being calm. It wasn't working until I looked into her eyes that I began to feel compelled to do as she said. It seemed like such a good idea to just let go. I could physically feel my heart slowing to normal speed and my shaking stop. Fluttershy smiled and closed the distance between us before embracing me in a hug. I looked over at Twilight, she was studying me very closely and looked ready to pounce at any moment to protect her friend. I had no doubts that she would either.

Once I had calmed down, and Twilight was at least a little more sure that I wasn't going to randomly pounce on her or Fluttershy, we began the tests. The first test required that I stand up. After a little assistance from Fluttershy to get me standing on my weakened knees I was able to stand erect. Twilight then measured my height and width. The tests went on and on, testing reflexes, strength, speed, and endurance. Finally after a few hours the nonstop testing came to an end. I fell back onto the bed, physically and mentally tired. "You did great, thank you so much for letting Twilight run some tests on you. Now stay here while I go to get you some dinner." Fluttershy gave me a wide smile as she left the room. Not even two seconds later Twilight entered the room. "Hey, Fluttershy asked me to watch you while she got you some food. I figured it would be a good idea to tell you a little about myself considering I asked you so many."  She said. After a moment of awkward silence I finally open my mouth to speak. "I don't know how I got here...I don't know why I'm here...but I want to go home."
