Blackness.
Carmen felt very little. He was drowsy from his work. He was only here for the Captain. He had to stick with him. He had to be strong.
He had to be dedicated.
The captain brought only him. Carmen chuckled. Hell of a raid, he thought.
Shining said something Carmen couldn’t make out. They were approaching the base faster than Carmen wanted.
Blackness. The street was completely off the grid. Dark as hell.
Carmen near collapsed but managed to stay up. He was really taking a toll on himself.
His mind kept jumping between his work and how he was doing. He tried to clear his brain of the thoughts of fatigue. It worked for a short while, but then he started to waver and the cycle started again.
Blackness. What a horrible night to do a raid. Carmen groaned inaudibly.
Shining kicked in the door to the base and held up his weapon of choice: a .22-gauge rifle.
Suddenly, a burst of light.
Carmen was blinded.
Then.
Blackness.
