//-------------------------------------------------------// Bloodbender -by Thunder Quill- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 I flew back into a wall, grunting as the steel dented underneath the blow. I spat up some blood, which flew into the air, moving around me as I stretched it out, forming a paper thin, strong as steel shield, blocking the robot’s next laser attack. As the beam subsided, I leaped up, changing the shield into a spear, which I launched at it’s head. The robot fell to the ground, smoking and sizzling. The spear turned back into normal blood, which flowed around me, turning into a suit of blood, strong as steel, but fluid as water. Having defeated the robot, I looked around. The room was made entirely out of metal, consistant of most mad scientists labs that I’ve taken out. The smell of strange chemicals and burnt flesh assaulted my nostrils, almost making me gag. I was after a Scientist who went crazy, killed some of his colleagues, and hid out, cutting open live heroes and villains without care, looking for what he called, “The secret to power” I figure he was trying to figure out how people like us got our powers. I pressed on, eager to kill the bastard. A couple more rooms, not varying in shape and or color, I reached a giant metal door. There was no panel to unlock the door, must have an opening on the other side, not that that helped me. The blood suit flew off of me and coalesced in a sphere next to me. I changed the acidic level of the sphere so that it could melt through the door and advanced it. It started to cut through, then it stopped. I didn’t have enough concentrated acidic blood to melt the door. Pulling out a pocket knife, I cut my wrist slightly, hissing as the blood began to flow. After I got a sizeable amount, I brought the blood up into a second sphere, hardening the blood on the cut, sealing it. Turning back to the door, I increased the Acidic level of the new blood before I combined it with the old orb, increasing the acidic levels, before slowly pushing it against the door. The melting door made a satisfying hissing noise as it melted. After I made a hole that I could easily walk through, I got blasted with a bright energy beam. I screamed, the pain of the blast felt like my skin was melting. I fell to the ground, panting. “Well well well, look who finally decided to show up.” A voice said from above me. My face curled into a snarl, “Bloodrender.” I hissed, partly in pain, partly in anger. The next second, I was brought up forcefully and my face smashed into a wall by a cybernetic arm, “That’s Doctor Bloodrender to you.” Bloodrender said, enjoying my pain. He was about seven feet tall, more machine than man. His right arm was completely cybernetic, while his left was a plasma cannon. His legs seemed to be made of some kind of energy, and his face was scarred from a old battle of ours. His right eye was covered with a cybernetic implant, which glowed blood red. “I must say Bloodbender, I thought it would be more difficult to capture you, after all, you are my number one test subject.” He said, giving me to a couple of bots. “Take him to the lab. His blood might finally reveal the secrets of how to give someone powers.” He said, gleefully, “Corporations around the globe will pay millions for their own super powered henchmen.” I heard him say as I was taken away. Damn, I thought to myself, This isn’t good. I continued to struggle against the robot’s. Too strong, no blood to melt them… Oh, fuck… this is going to hurt. I concentrated on the vein on my right arm, which suddenly exploded with a stream of blood. Quickly, I gathered some of the blood before closing off the wound and used it to melt through the robot’s arm’s, dropping me to the ground. They kept walking, not realizing that they had dropped their prisoner. “Dumb ass robots,” I muttered to myself, making the blood into a orb, before looking for a way out of the labyrinthine like laboratory. “How the hell does he find his way around this place?” I said quietly, before spotting a room that said teleport chamber. “Might as well.” I sneaked into the room, making sure that no one was in there. The room was filled with strange tube like guns, and one giant cylinder. Moving towards the cylinder, I didn’t notice the shadow behind me until it was too late. Bloodrender grabbed me and threw me against a wall. “Did you really think you could escape me?” He snarled, picking me up and slamming me into the ground. “I have eyes all over my facility, making sure that little bug’s like you don’t escape the zapper.” He picked me up and threw me into the air, before slamming my back on his knee. I could feel the strain of his knee on my back, before excruciating pain flowed through my whole body as something broke. I screamed as my back broke, him throwing me to the ground. “You pathetic worm, you had no chance against me.” He sneered. I laid on the ground, unable to move, Damn, he broke my spine. I groaned, thinking how the hell I was going to get out of this. An idea came to me. Bloodrender turned around, and I acted, using my blood to animate my body. My muscles might be paralyzed, but my blood wasn’t. “OI! Bloodrender!” I snarled, making some of my blood that fell on the floor into a sword. Bloodrender turned around, his confident smirk turning into a look of shock as I drove my hardened blood sword into his metallic heart. “Bite me.” I snarled. spitting into his face as he fell to the ground. I began to walk away before a beep emanated from Bloodrender. More beeps followed, and, realizing what was happening, I dove into the cylinder. “Please choose a destination.” A melodious female voice said. “ANYWHERE!” I yelled, desperate to get away from the explosion. I felt a soft tingle, before I blacked out. I awoke to a soft beeping, and me groaning, “Is he still trying to explode?” I muttered, slowly opening my eyes. I was in a white room, to my right was a EKG, and to my left was a couple of IV’s. It smelled, clean, almost sterile. “The hell? A hospital?” I said, slowly getting up, wicing at my stiff joints. “How long was I out?” I muttered, spotting my stuff on a table next to the door. I pulled the IV’s out of my arms, wincing slightly, letting a bit of blood flow out and coalescing it into a small ball, which levitated next to me, before healing the wound.. I moved slowly towards the table, trying not to make any noise that would alert whoever brought me here. I grabbed my jeans, a red tee-shirt, black leather jacket, black high tops with red laces, and black shades. Moving to a mirror, I took a look at myself. I had dark brown hair, just long enough to get in my eyes, pale skin, and blood red eyes. Kinda like a vampire, to my embarrassment, already enough of a vampire with my blood controlling abilities, no need to enunciate the fact. Placing my shades on after I finished getting dressed, I walked out the door, and almost tripped over a small being. Looking down at said small being, my eyes widened under my shades. Standing at about 4 feet tall, was a unicorn. She was white, with dark blue hair styled into a bun. A mark on her ass depicted a candy heart. “The fuck?” I muttered, wondering where the hell I was. The unicorn must have been dazed when I nearly trampled her, because her eyes were rolling around in her head. Eventually, her gaze refocused and she turned to me. Her eyes were a gold, which was not normal for any horse. “You should still be in bed,” She said, in a kind and gentle tone. “Wait, what?” I said, completely taken aback that a Unicorn, a mythical creature, was bloody talking. To me. I tried to back up, only to be met with a excruciating pain in my spine. I bit my lip to keep from screaming, falling to one knee. The unicorn rushed to my side, trying to help me up, only for me to push her away. “Stay back!” I managed to rasp, making the sphere of blood into a dagger, keeping her at bay. She shrunk back at the dagger, her ears splayed back, “I’m only trying to help, I can’t do that if you’re pointing a weapon at me.” She said, coming forwards again, albit cautiously. I hesitated, before sighing and turning the dagger back into a ball of blood. “Thank you, let’s get you back to bed.” She said, her horn lighting up a pink color. I felt myself lifting up, getting into a standing position. “Thanks.” I muttered, walking into the room with the unicorn’s help. I sat down upon the bed, still in pain slightly. “I never got your name, miss?” I said, trying to be polite to the unicorn who was trying to save me. She turned away from me, looking through the cabinets. “Nurse Sweetheart.” She grumbled, apparently a bit miffed that I pointed a dagger at her. “And your’s?” She asked me. “Chris.” I said, “How did I get here?” I asked, really curious about that last detail. Nurse Sweetheart was about to respond, when the door opened, revealing a tall, white, unicorn with wings. Her hair seemed to flow without wind, and it was a strange rainbow color. “I believe I could answer that Chris.” She said, a warm smile on her face, devoid of any malice. I was instantly on guard, a knife forming into my hand, “How do you know my name?” I growled. The next second, a spear was pointed at my head. “Lower your weapon, creature.” A white male Unicorn with a two colored mane said to me. He had armor on, he was a guard of some kind possibly? I moved the dagger, now pointed at his neck, faster than he can see. “You first bub.” I growled, the dagger pushing into his neck slightly. Suddenly, my arm was thrown backwards, the blood knife impacting the wall. “That’s cheating.” I said, trying to move my arm. The Pegasus/Unicorn’s horn was glowing a gold color, “Will you both stop?” She said, sounding just a little bit annoyed. I glared at her, before the knife formed back into a sphere, which floated around me. “Thank you.” She said, her horn dimming. My arm fell to my side, feeling a bit numb. “As for how I know your name, I heard it from right outside the door.” She said, giving me a look. I immediately felt a bit foolish, “Sorry.” I muttered, rubbing my arm to get some feeling back into it. She gave another warm smile, before speaking again, “As for how you got here, you just appeared from nowhere, right in the middle of a diplomatic meeting.” She gave me an annoyed look, “It took me a couple hours to convince the Changeling Queen that it wasn’t an assassination attempt.” She gave me a glare. I stared at her, “Are you expecting me to say sorry? Cause I’m not.” I deadpanned, getting an angry look from the guard. “Watch your tongue, creature,” He snarled, levitating his spear at me. I sighed, “Do you really want to do this again? I can kill you so easily, why even try?” I groaned, leaning back in my bed. He glared at me, “My armor is enchanted to protect me against any attack.” He said proudly. Ok, I thought, time to teach this guy a lesson, “What about an attack from inside?” He went from proud to confused, “I can rip your blood out drop by drop, I can make your blood so acidic that it’ll melt through your flesh, see how your armor protects you when your eyeballs begin to melt.” I said, a smug smile on my face, turning away from the slightly green Unicorn. “Now, if we’re done, I would like to go.” I said, trying to get up, only to be forced back down by the Pegasus/Unicorn. “That really is cheating.” I growled. She gave me a stern look, “I cannot just let you go free. My ponies would panic, The Changeling’s are demanding that you are executed, I have to request that you stay in the castle for the time being for your own safety. The Staff have been alerted to your presence.” She said. I glared at her, “So I’m a prisoner here? Fucking fantastic…” I grumbled, before glancing out the window. The moon had risen about an hour or two ago, and I could see an interesting shape on it. “Kind of looks like a unicorn.” I muttered. The Pegasus/Unicorn followed my eyes, before hers were filled with hurt, something that wasn’t missed by me. “Indeed it does.” She whispered, before clearing her throat. “I must be going.” She said, getting up swiftly and walking towards the door. “I never got your name. Or what you are,” I called out. She stopped, before turning to face me, “I am Princess Celestia, Alicorn of the sun.” The moon seemed to glow as she said this, before it died down. I chuckled, “Sun Princess? That’s not pretentious at all.” I laid down slowly, “Have a nice night Princess, I suppose in the morning, you’ll show me my room and such?” She nodded, “I expect more answers tomorrow,” I said, closing my eyes. Celestia looked at Chris, before walking out the door. She walked, seemingly aimlessly, as she did most nights. And, as most nights, she ended up at the top of the highest tower, gazing up at the moon, reminiscing on past events. “Oh sister.” She said, closing her eyes, but not before a stream of tears escaped. She walked back down the tower and into her room. As she got onto the bed, she closed her eyes and fell into an uneasy sleep. Author's Note Can anyone spot the Farcry 3 blood Dragon reference?
