The content feeling of Cheese's arms around her chest settled in as Pinkie sighed in comfort. Everything was quiet, only the few falling leaves that scraped against the window interrupted the silence. Their breaths synchronized along with their heartbeats. At once, all the worrying about her new pregnancy issue washed away, knowing that Her soulmate would help her, and wouldn't leave her behind once he knew what he was really dealing with.
Candy sat on Pinkie's bedside table, most empty from before. Every so often, the goofy sound of Gummy blinking would sound out through the room, causing the two to giggle quietly.
"Cheesie...?" Pinkie asked.
"Yes?" He asked contently.
"Can you get me a piece of candy?" She asked.
"Of course." Cheese squinted as he reached over. The first time, he missed the pile of candy completely, and again the second time. Finally, on the third time, he grabbed a piece of candy and hoofed it to Pinkie.
"Cheesie?" Pinkie asked again.
"Hm?" He hummed.
"Can you see okay?"
"....Yes, it's just...dark." He stuttered.
"...it didn't seem like it." Pinkie said as she crossed her forelegs.
He sighed. "Can I tell you something?"
"You can tell me anything." Pinkie said calmly.
"Did I ever tell you that I wore huge, thick glasses when I was just a colt?" He asked.
"I don't think so..." Pinkie said.
"Well, I did." He said. "I remember this story perfectly..."
They were huge, no joke. I had a big sight issue when I was little. My prescription was far-sighted and near-sighted. I was told to wear those thick lensed glasses for the rest of my life.
After that, I moved to Manehatten, which meant new school. And being the new kid at a school in Manehatten was no walk in the park.
As soon as I walked through the door, the mean fillies and colts surrounded me and started laughing at the size of my glasses. My ears folded down as I made my way to my new desk.
It didn't help that my father that just passed, which was the reason why my mother and I moved to Manehatten in the first place- to get a better job now that I had to rely on her, not both parents.
The days went on, the teasing and bullying continued until it got old. I no longer bent my ears back as they annoyed me on the schoolyard. But it didn't stop the crying.
There was this in filly, Crescent Moon, I think it was. She was the leader of the pack. She decided what they did, and they seemed to enjoy it, nonetheless.
It sickened me, them getting their kicks out of picking on the new kids who had something embarrassing about it.
Crescent jumped to the next level and started making up fantasies about how my father probably had even bigger glasses then mine.
"He didn't have glassed at all!" I has yelled. She brushed it of with an evil snicker and continued.
One day, one of Crescent's guyfriends stole my glasses off my face and put them on.
He shouted, "Look everyone! I'm Cheese Dorkwich!"
I ran to the other side if the schoolyard as everypony laughed in my face. I hid behind a bush and cried.
That day when I came home, my glasses were back on my face, but the lens were cracked and the arms were bent.
My mom saw me and asked what happened. I didn't say anything, just ran to my room bawling my eyes out.
One day, I had enough. I wrote on note saying I was sorry on the table for my mother, then packed my valuables and ran away. I never looked back.
And then I found Ponyville. Then I found you. You were a beautiful filly, juggling your rubber chickens and balancing on that circus ball. I wanted to be with you, to show me what it meant to have fun... And you did, without words.
After the party was over, I swore to come back and see you as I left the small town.
More bullying came as I passed through towns, until I took my glasses off, not caring about my vision, thinking it would never be as bad as it was. And then I became a party pony, just like you, and my life was happy again, like before my father died.
Cheese sighed. "I didn't really want you to know, but I guess my bad vision is coming back."
"That..." Pinkie started. "I don't know what to say..."
"I bet your life was always happy, unlike mine." He said as his head tilted down.
"I lived on a rock farm." Pinkie giggled. "A rock farm."
"Oh." Cheese let out a chuckle. "I still have my glasses, in case of an emergency."
"Oh! Can I see them!" Pinkie asked.
"I guess," He hopped off the bed and pulled his glasses out of a pocket in his poncho. He hoofed them to Pinkie to look as as he got back on the bed.
She looked at them for a minute before glancing at her coltfriend.
She opened the arms and started towards Cheese.
"Oh nonono." Cheese muttered as his ears bent back.
He felt the old feeling of the cold arms sliding on top of his ears, then suddenly, the world was clearer.
"Whoah..." Cheese moaned. "You're even more beautiful when I'm wearing these humiliating glasses...."
Her cheeks flushed. "Thanks..." She giggled. "And you look even more cute and goofy..."
She leaned in and pressed her muzzle against his, his glasses pushing up slightly. He slowly wrapped his arms around the mare and leaned into the kiss.
They parted, their mouths staying close, and their eyes closed.
"I like those glasses." Pinkie giggled.
"Yeah... They're nice...."
"I think you should wear them..." Pinkie whispered.
"But-" He paused. "I don't want to be teased..."
"Cheesie, this is Ponyville, you're not gonna be teased." She giggled.
"I don't know..." He said. "They are a bit smaller than they were when I was a colt..." He tapped his chin. "I could give it a try..."
He received no answer.
"Pinkie?" He looked down and found his marefriend asleep on his stomach, her slightly swollen belly pressing into his.
"Hm..." He smiled softly before taking off his glasses and closed his eyes.
