We, not I

Our Journey

We had never felt so alive.

We tore apart our prison, the strength granted to us by our new body rendering our torturers helpless before our righteous fury. And once we had splintered every door, shattered every window, and destroyed every wall, we tore them apart as well.

They screamed, they ran, they begged.

But we killed them all anyway. They were too slow, too weak, too evil to be allowed to escape. Every man and woman we came across were ripped apart by our jaws, swallowed for consumption. The carnage we wrought that day had never been seen before, and it most likely wouldn't be ever again.

Blood was spattered everywhere. Wherever we looked, crimson stains painted the once monotonous white we had been trapped in for years. Or at least what was left of it.

Taking in the destruction we had created, almost made us feel bad for what we did.

No we did not.

They deserved it. They deserved worse for what they did to us. While we were upset, they were indifferent. While we cried, they laughed. While we were miserable, they were *happy.*

It was our turn to be happy.

So we escaped. Charging through an opening we had created, we ran beneath the starry sky, that we hadn't seen in a decade. We ignored the people that ran from us, the sirens that blared, and the occasional bullet that bounced off our hide. We were too busy basking in our new found freedom, to deal with or even acknowledge the pathetic little things that exiled us so long ago.

For some strange reason, buildings and cars inexplicably soon vanished from sight, replaced by a background of vibrant colors, which in turn became a lush green forest. We were too ecstatic to question the perplex mystery. A part of us believed that we were dreaming, and we were intent on staying asleep for as long as possible. After a while we had to stop. As strong as we had become, it became apparent our new body was not inexhaustible. We welcomed the pained wheezing that followed. To us it was a wondrous indication that were indeed awake and lucid, and that our minds weren't conjuring false images. Once we had caught our breath, we walked over to a nearby stream. We were thirsty, and covered in sticky blood and we grew eager at the sight of water. Before we could plunge our head into the water, an image in the clear pool stopped us.

We looked closely at our reflection, and what we saw startled us.

We were tall, scaly, reptilian. We now had two pair of legs, each as long and thick as the entirety of our old vessel, we possessed a compact body the size of a truck, and most noticeably, we had two heads. The one to the left was rugged and long jawed, like that of a crocodiles. Its black craggy skin was complimented with brilliant white tusks and horns. The head sat atop an elongated neck, practically bulging with muscle. It could have been easily mistaken for a tree truck if we hid the rest of our body. The other head was shaped like a pythons, but sharper, and adorned with sharp spikes. Pulling back our grey scaly lips, revealed a set of wickedly sharp fangs , perfect for cutting into flesh. This head was connected to an even longer neck, and was far more gracile. It strongly resembled the necks of a mesozoic sauropod, only much more flexible. This revelation left us stunned, and for we minutes we simply sat and gaped at ourselves.

Never before had we seen such beauty.

We had always known we were more than one, but not even in our wildest dreams had we actually seen us. In the past we would constantly look over our shoulders, trying to see each other, but always failing. In time we stopped, tired of the disappointment and stares we received. Now we did it again, and for the first time in many years, we smiled.

Fluttershy awoke to the sounds of voices. Startled she jumped out of bed, looking around nervously. She sighed in relief when silence greeted her, and chalked up her fears as nothing more than a figment of imagination. Until she Angels expression that is. He ran towards her, gesturing wildly. The rabbit looked scared, terrified even. Biting down on her bottom lip, she listened to Angel's panicked squeaking before he was cut off by the sounds of a deep menacing voice.

"Is there food in that cottage?" Fluttershy chewed on her hooves anxiously. The gruff voice could have easily belonged to a dragon.

The speaker's companion responded, accompanied by a much smoother and gentler tone. "Why does it matter? We do not feel hungry."

The other voice sighed. "No, but we will."

"Not any time soon," the softer spoken one argued. "We are reptiles now. We do not need to eat as much, especially after yesterdays meal."

"True," the angry one grunted. "Still our new body is big, and it wouldn't hurt to check."

A sudden weight pressed against, and tore through the roof of her cottage with disturbing ease. A set of ebony jaws loomed over her, followed by what looked to be a giant grey snake.

They stared at each other, a pair of yellow eyes regarding her curiously, while red orbs assessed her in a predatory manner. Before anyone could make the first move, Fluttershy fainted.

For the second time that day, Fluttershy awoke to the sound of bickering voices. Sandwiched between a pair of forelimbs larger then herself, and two of the most fearsome non-dragon faces, she almost fainted again as they discussed whether or not they planned to eat her. Angel was at her side, hurling insults at the two, that they plainly did not understand or pay attention to.

"We can't eat it!"

"Why not?"

"Because it's a freaking pegasus! It could be the first or last of it kinds for all we know."

"Yeah? We're giant two-headed lizard things now. This one has a feeling a winged horse isn't that big of a deal wherever we are."

"Well, why eat the potentially one of a kind majestic creature, when there is a rabbit, a very fucking irritating one that this one must add, right there?"

"This one planned on eating both."

"Too bad, it's either the rabbit or nothing at all."

The crocodile head looked as if it were about to argue, but just sighed resignedly . "Fine," it snarled. Opening its mouth, it prepared to gulp Angel down. At the last second, Fluttershy intervened. Practically snatching the trembling lapine from the jaws of death, Fluttershy fluttered a safe distance a way, and gave the two "the stare".

"How dare you!" she shouted, in an uncharacteristic bout of rage. They shrank back slightly, as the tiny pony yelled and poke accusatory hooves at them. She then began a tirade on how "bullying" things smaller was disgraceful behavior, and how the two should feel ashamed of themselves.

Unbeknownst to her, Fluttershy's glare did nothing more than mildly startle them, and heard very little of what she had to say.

"Well, now that we know she's sentient, we definitely can't eater her now."

"This one agrees. Her courage is to be admired." he looked towards Angel in amusement. "This one will even go as far as to spare the little fur ball's life."

They stared at her listlessly, waiting for her to finish her lecture.

"Am I clear?" she finished after fifteen minutes. The black crocodile head, who had begun to contemplate on whether he should eat her again, nodded eagerly.

"Oh yes, we have learned our lesson," he said with the slightest tinge of mockery. "but..."

"But?" Fluttershy prompted.

"If we aren't allowed to hunt those smaller then ourselves what are we supposed to eat then?" he asked smugly.

Fluttershy visibly faltered. "W-well, I, um.."

"Surely we have the right to live despite our carnivorous nature."

When the pegasus looked to be on the verge of tears, the snake head interceded on her behalf.

"Don't mind that one. That side of us is just likes being a critical douche bag." he chuckled as his darker brother glowered at him.

"Oh, well I'm uh Fluttershy," she greeted awkwardly. "And I'm uh sorry about being so judgmental."

"That's all right," the serpent said, before his brother could mock her again. "I doubt a grass eater could ever imagine being in a carnivores shoes," he scratched his chin in thought. "As for names, this one is not sure."

"We once belonged to a single body, and had a single name," the crocodile explained. "Now that we have sprouted in two, we have yet to think of proper titles for ourselves," they shrugged.

This one supposes it should be called, Xella."

"And this one, Ush."

Authors Note: If I butchered Fluttershy's dialogue, please forgive me as I rarely watch the show despite reading and writing fanfics.
