As night fell in the land of Equestria, Celestia was getting ready for her sleep. As usual she had her quarters guarded. She urged them to leave, for she could take care of herself. The guards couldn’t argue with the princess, so they were excused. The moon was rising in the background, so Princess Luna was doing her job. Celestia had climbed into her grand bed and pulled the covers over. The moonlight was reflected onto her through the window, but she didn’t mind as it was not too bright. The moonlight was a light blue, not too much on the blue side thought. Through the night, Celestia had recurring nightmares of the city of Canterlot being obliterated, to also see a figure she had never seen before. She ignored them as nightmares and nightmares only. These dreams started to mess with her, so she went outside for some fresh air. As she was taking in the air, she noticed something on the moon that was odd. The moon was turning from its usual grey- blue color to a blood red, then went black. Something was wrong, and she knew it had to do with Luna.
Celestia had called the guards to attention in the grand hall. When she got to the hall, she noticed that none of them were there. She had called them again, only to have no reply. At that moment, something wet and warm had dropped on her face, and to
wipe it off and notice that it was...blood. She looked up to see a body that was torn inside out with its organs out like a chandelier. More blood started pouring down, staining her white coat with the blood of the body. She ran upstairs to find more bodies like the first, inside out. With further inspection she noticed their fur was gone, also that each of them had the letter S on their heart. Celestia couldn’t help but to vomit at the sight of what was in front of her, all her guards to be mutilated in a sickening way. She went to her sisters room, hoping she was alright, only to see that there were blue feathers and blood everywhere. She was too late, her sister was gone. There was writing on the wall, written as she assumed was her sister's blood. “ As the world falls, so does your mind.”.
Celestia was in terror, she didn’t know what to do at all. All she could do is stare at was in front of her. It was the next morning when things became more corrupt. The stream that ran by Ponyville was now a thick river of blood, with occasional limbs floating down into the current. Anything that was food is now rotten, as if a plague had hit their city. Some of the ponies started eating each other, tearing their bodies open while they were still alive, ripping organs from their cavity and eating away at what they had. The other ponies that had fled got away safely, never to return. Celestia had never seen anything like this, never. Then she saw Twilight, running away from the chaos.”Twilight!,” the princess yelled,” Get your friends away from here, its not safe”. But something was different about her, then she had her answer right away. Instead of Twilight running to safety, she was now headed for Celestia. Her mane was a mess, here eyes were dilated, and her fur was bloodied. She too had gone cannibalistic, in which she saw a more satisfying meal. Celestia had tried running away, but had tripped over one of the many corpses. She came down with a thud and a hollow crack. A bone protruded from one of her wings, as blood poured from it as well. Pain shot all throughout her body as the flesh was exposed to the air. She couldn’t fly, but she could still run. She got back on her hooves and started galloping at full speed, running through obstacles. She glanced back to see Twilight was still on her tail, but falling behind. She took a turn around a corner to throw her off, in which it did. She stepped out to see that the coast was clear, but much to her surprise that Twilight was waiting for her. Celestia was knocked down hard, and a sharp pain in her side where Twilight's horn is. Her horn had torn Celestia’s skin upward giving a ominous tearing sound. As air rushed into the cut, Celestia had started to scream in agony. Twilight started ripping and gnawing away at organs. The intestines were dragged out of her body as a seemingly long strand, snapping out of their place. Her kidneys were bitten off and eaten away by other ponies that had chimed in. Organs and flesh where now being thrown in every direction. When the ponies were done, Celestia looked down to see that her body was nothing but a hollow corpse.
She screamed out loud to see that she was in her bed, looked at her chest to see that it wasn’t open and sighed with relief. “Twas another nightmare,”she mumbled. “Princess we heard you scream, what seems to be the matter?”. The guard had barged in. She told them that it was a nightmare and nothing more. This was normal for the guards, it happened about every month. They were excused, rambling on about their duties after they closed the door behind them. Celestia caught her breath, as that dream was very realistic. She looked outside to see that the moon wasn’t bloody or gone. Whatever it was that dream was, it seemed too real to be one. She had stayed up for the rest of the night, visiting Twilight later on to see if there were any books on what had just happened. Of course Twilight was ecstatic to see her there, but that was to be expected from her and almost everyone else. She went through the whole library, only to find that nothing was there. She left saying goodbye to Twilight and had left for Canterlot.
Celestia had now taken logs of all nightmares, making sure that there were connections between them. Sadly there were none compared to the surreal dream. As days passed by, more nightmares had come, having to deal with them almost daily now. Sometimes she would stay up, torturing herself by not getting any sleep. She stayed in the castle most of her time, not abandoning Canterlot. She was afraid that the surreal nightmare would actually happen, making her home her prison. Often Luna would come by to give her company, but as in a result making Celestia panic. It had been 3 months since the surreal nightmare, or any nightmare as they had stopped. Celestia was still cooped up in her castle like a caged bird. Luna had taken over her position, while letting Celestia adjust back into her momentum. Things were as usual, addressing people and business matters with Luna and Celestia, with Luna talking most of the time. Its not that Celestia didn’t want to talk, its just that she couldn’t. But she still kept a straight face throughout the rest of the day. She had visited Doctor Hooves for counseling which surprised him at first, but got used to it. He kept a log of all things she had said or thought of during a nightmare. When he first heard about the surreal nightmare, he thought at first the work was getting to her, thus appointing Luna to take over duties until she was feeling better. At first she denied her sister taking over, saying she wasn’t ready yet. Doctor Hooves had said that in order to see if she can handle it is to give her the position for a little bit to see how she does. It didn’t feel right at first, but for once she had to listen to somepony for a change. It had gone well for Luna to take over her sister's position temporarily, so Celestia had gone on vacation. She didn’t feel it was right for her to leave Canterlot, but it was in her sisters hooves now.
As Celestia was on vacation, she started having headaches, not painful but numbing. These headaches started to toy with her, not knowing whether to be in pain or to relax. After a while they started going away, thinking that it was just temporary stress from being away from the castle. Then things started going wrong. She started laughing uncontrollably, almost maniacal sounding. She randomly started crying, then mad, then start laughing again. Her eyes started bugging out, with a sinister grin on her face. She started tearing skin and flesh of her legs, her body, and even from her face, laughing at the pain. She was now a walking figure of flesh, pouring salt all over her body making her laugh even more at the pain. Then moments later all the pain came at once, wiping the smirk off her face and screamed like a banshee. She woke up again with another nightmare, still looking to see she had her skin on her. She was panicking, afraid that they would come back. She looked around the room to see a set of green eyes across the room. She couldn’t make out what it was, but it was the same figure from her first surreal nightmare. All she could see was a black haze surrounding the figure, also to see it smile in the dark. The teeth were sharp and jagged like, giving it a sinister look to its snarl. She couldn’t move, shock had made her paralyzed. No that wasn’t it, she was bound. She looked over to see her hooves were punctured by the haze, blood pouring out of them. She let out a yell, only to be muffled by more of the haze.
The being started to speak, sounding like a murderers lullaby. “No one is going to hear you my dear, so there is nothing but fear. Your life is mine, and next is your sisters.”. The being started to creep up to her, and started seeing more of what looked like an Oneiroi, a solid form of a nightmare. One of these Oneiroi also possessed Luna, making her into Nightmare Moon. “Now my darling, I’m gonna make you into a being like no other. You will destroy the world, having the satisfaction that I crave for slaughter.”. At that moment, Celestia felt a surge of fire go through her body, making it feel as if the gate of hell was inside her. Her mane and tail went from its wavy rainbow stature to a hellish flame. Her eyes became filled with light, and her consciousness away from her. Blood was pouring from her nostrils and eyes, as the Oneiroi tried to adjust to the body.
The once kind princess now turned into a walking furnace, with every step she took set a flame to the very spot she stood on. The Oneiroi was now successfully intertwined with the body, giving an uproar around the house as the object in it began to set ablaze and set fire to themselves. This being, a hellbound, began to scream while running amok. It finally found an opening in the wall and ran out to see it was daybreak. The sun was at a blood stained red and then to the withering white light. It had a mind, and thought. It then knew what it would do, but it would need to have more energy. The flames that were once kindled now were embers, receding in power. The final days of this world are at a near, its inhabitants not knowing what was to soon happen.
It had been 3 months as Luna’s rule had began, and the order of Equestria had been as usual. Nothing new had happened besides missing ponies here and there. She began to fret that something must be going on, and sent guards to investigate the matter. A week into the investigation and trouble had already erupted. The guards themselves had come back with burns, saying that the forest had been set ablaze, no life at all. Luna had thought that the dragons had been behind this, knowing that nothing else could expel flames. She sent the Cloudsdale Weather Patrol to douse the flames, but the fires had already eaten the farmlands, making its way to Ponyville where the town was already fighting it back. The squad had brought storm clouds, pouring rain on the flames. There was a hiss as if the flames themselves were alive, smothered by the rain. Part of the town had been burned down, but still intact.
