The Flowers of War: "The King is Dead"
"They killed him! The bloody backstabbers killed him! They killed the King! THE KING IS DEAD!"
Canterlot Castle was filled with activity. And not positive activity. Servants and Maids alike ran to find safety in their dorms as Royal Guards set up defences within and around the city. Bridish soldiers stopped what they were doing and began shooting their projectile weapons at the castle. Royal guards, both Solar and Lunar, retaliated by firing back with Crossbows and Bows.
Princess Celestia did not know what frightened her more. The fact that one of her own Guards shot and killed foreign Royalty, or the deafening sirens, the constant yells and never-ending gunfire from outside the castle walls. She wished it were a dream. A nightmare. But this was all too real. The magic blast, the..corpse and the crying Bridish bodyguards. She knew what was to come next. Equestria and Bridle had ended a war mere days ago. Now, she predicted a new one to start. A war of former allies.
"This is a live Broadcast from the Prime Minister himself, from London."
[Silence and Static]
"I am speaking to you from the cabinet room of 20 Upping Road. This morning the Bridish Ambassador in Canterlot, left the Equestrian Government a fine note, stating that by eleven o'clock, they were to return the King safely, and to end the "prank" of his death lest a state of war were to be between us. I have to tell you now, that no such undertaking has been received-and consiquently; this country is at war....with Equestria. You can imagine what a bitter blow that is to us, that all our struggles to achieve peace has failed. That I cannot believe that there is anything more, or anything different that I could have done that would have been more successful. Up to the very least, it could have been quite possible to have arranged a peaceful and honourable settlement between Equestria and the United Kingdom. But the Princess would not have it, she has inevitably made up her mind to have the King killed, although she now says that it was an accident, which was rejected by Parliament and the Royal Family, that it was not a true statement. The proposal was crude, and not a trace of truth was to be found after thorough analysis by the MI5.
"Now there is no chance of expecting that a country such as Equestria will not reject us, as we are a fighting nation, opposite to that of Equestria. It appears we are not welcome into their land anymore, even though they begged and pleaded us to come as the Griffons invaded their soil. We have only a few remaining troops in Equestria, who are bravely resisting the Equestrian guard with what little Equipment they have left. Recruitment posts are to be re-opened for those who wish to resist the magic menace that are the Equestrians. I am Nuzzle Chamberlain."
