Celestia struggled to breath as Sombra's dark magic flowed through her, eating her body from the inside out, like acid. "S...ister....." She started as her spell continued. "Tia, don't speak, just concentrate on the spell." Luna said, her horn still touching Celestia's, but the white alicorn continued. "Luna...don't let......them.....win. Use....the know....ledge.....I'm... giving you...to.........free....everypony........pl...ease....lu........na........" She struggled as the acid reached her heart and throat. "Please.....forgive me.........for...being so........blind......" Her voice quivered and faded as she took in her last breath. Luna wept a single tear, remembering the lullaby Tia used to sing to her as a filly, as the last of her sister, a tiny sliver of her soul that worked its way through the spell, entered her. Her sister's body lay unmoving on the castle floor, inches away from where she was attacked. She knew she would never see her beloved Celestia again. Luna howled with rage and turned toward Sombra, dropping her barrier and aiming a cage spell at him, which he easily deflected. He then zapped a dark spell at her, but she quickly dodged it and used a teleportation spell on Celestia's body while at the same time aiming a forbidden torture spell at Sombra. It caught him, and he writhed in silent agony as the spell immoblized his hind legs. Luna stalked towards him, glaring down with all hatred of 30,782 years. "I despise you, foul creature of the shadows. You know not what you have awoken!" She spat as she lit her horn and prepared to cast a spell. "Oh, I think I do." Sombra replied calmly as he lit his horn and thrust himself towards Luna, supposedly aiming at her heart. She lowered her horn to his chest, quickly protecting her own, but Sombra, being smaller, was faster. He launched himself at her head, his target from the beginning, and violently shoved his horn into the base of Luna's. She shrieked and her prepared spell dissolved, the built up magic energy throwing them to opposite sides of the room, both hitting the walls with a dull thud.
Sombra stirred, blood coming from his mouth. He coughed a few times and used a healing spell on his broken bones and paralized hind legs. Glancing up, he saw that Luna had not yet awoken. He also noticed a hint of a bubbly purple and black magic aura surrounding her. Sombra walked over to her, knowing she would not wake yet. He carefully put her in a more comfortable position and removed her armor, laying it nearby. After checking for broken bones or even bruises, and finding none, he came to the conclusion that Alicorns heal automatically, no matter the condition of their mind.
Sombra lay down next to Luna and started speaking softly to her. "I'm sorry. I know you're fighting a hard battle and I hated to try to bring her back. But I had no choice. I want you to feel the same to me as I feel to you. I love you, Luna. I never stopped loving you. I know I look different, but I'm still the same on the inside. Please, Luna, win against the Nightmare. I'm so sorry I did it, but I needed some time to sit with you without you trying to kill me. Be strong, my love. I doubt you can hear me, and I'm sure when you wake, whether you're good or evil, you'll want to kill me. But I beg you, if you can hear me, nod your head."
Luna's head jerked suddenly, then nodded. Smiling lovingly, Sombra gently took it in his magic and rested it on his front hooves. He leaned down and noticed tears glistening under her closed eyelids.
"Oh Luna, don't cry. If you promise not to kill me when you regain consiousness then I'll help you win against her. Do you promise, love?" She nodded again, and Sombra's smile grew wider. "All right love, I'll try and ease the pain. I can't send you magical strength because my magic is tainted and it will only make it worse, but I can heal your wounds." He gently lit his horn and touched Luna's, his mind travelling into her subconsciousness.
