The Last Archlord
Chapter One
Load Full StoryAlong a lonely mountain path at dawn, two young grey unicorns hurried. One weak and wounded, the other looked over her shoulder making certain that no enemies followed them. The wind grew colder as they fled; ice began to form upon the ground. The younger of the two found a cave to her side and helped her brother inside. Both remained quiet as they tried to catch their breath.
Golden Honour looked over his wounds. The enemy had ripped through his armour like it was paper, leaving three deep gashes. He knew that he would soon be unable to walk, with as much blood as he had lost death was almost certain. He then looked to his younger sister who watched the cave entrance. Golden Honour knew if he could convince her to leave him behind she would live.
Come on think Golden Valour, how would father get out of this. He would one charge through the enemy lines, but with Golden Honour’s wounds, we would not make it far. Which leaves me with option two, teleportation. Golden Valour had practised long-range teleportation. though the apples were found a few weeks later in trees or rocks. She knew this time she would get it right, because she has too.
“Golden Valour, you have to go on ahead without me.” Golden Honour’s voice pulled Golden Valour out of her thoughts.
“No we’re going to make it out of this together and then father, will knock you atop the head from getting a little cut like that.” Golden Valour said as she looked at her brother’s blood stained coat.
“Please, I’ll only slow you down, and I don’t want to die knowing that I also cast my little sister her life.” Golden Honour said, as he looked at his cutie mark of a shield with a cross upon it. ”Plus I am a knight, so take my sword and run.”
“I don’t think so, you're not going to die because, I’m going to teleportation us out of here.” Golden Valour said, then noticed the terrified look on her brother's face.
“I’m not go… going to…” Golden Honour started to say, but fell unconscious.
Golden Valour hurried over to her bother to make sure he was still breathing, to her relief he was. Her horn lit up as she imagined Highever. Please, let me get it right this time. Golden Valour thought, as a light enveloped both her and Golden Honour. Once the light had cleared Golden Valour realized two things. One this was not Highever, and two, it was the Dread Woods on the other side of the empire.
She also realized it was now around midday, which was odd because the sun had just risen a few minutes earlier. She then looked down at her brother, and found he was not embedded in any rocks or trees, so her spell had worked, sort of. Golden Valour then levitated her brother onto her back, and started walking. I could try to teleport us again, but better not push my luck, Golden Valour thought.
She walked for some time, as she heard her brother’s breathing grew ever weaker, as she try to find a way out of this forest. She also became increasingly aware of the smell of apples. Which being that she had not eaten in over a day made her stomach rumble.
