It was 7:45 in the evening and the house was silent. It was the kind of silence that made one look behind his shoulder for anything unusual. That was what Spike had been doing while he was busy writing his letter. He did not know why, but Spike expected something to happen to him once he completed his letter. Whether it was good or bad was in no way up to him.
The time was now 7:55 in the evening. Spike had spent the last ten minutes editing and refining his letter. It was completed. The only thing left to do was to wait for the inevitable. An uneasy feeling of dread crept up his soul as the cold silence bore through his psyche. His eyes scanned every direction of the living room with close attention, feeling that something will happen to him at any moment.
The silence broke when the front door opened. “Spike, I’m home,” a young female answered. The voice belonged to Spike’s guardian, Twilight Sparkle. The lavender-haired girl found the green-haired boy sitting on the couch in the living room deep in his thoughts. “Spike, are you okay?”
He did not answer her right away, his eyes were focused on the letter he set down on the living room table. Twilight took off her jacket and sat next to him on the couch. Finally, Spike realized that she was present. “Oh, hi Twilight.”
“What’s wrong, Spike?” Twilight asked. She then saw the letter laying flat on the table. She picked it up and read it to herself. “What is this?”
“It’s just a letter,” Spike answered. Twilight continued to read the letter. As she read the fine printing on the paper, her face gave of mixture of responses that range from bewilderment to shock and to horror. She placed the letter back on the table and tried to comprehend what she had just read. “You wrote this letter to Rarity?” a disturbed Twilight asked.
“Yes.”
“Why would you think she would want to read this?” As he did before, Spike did not answer her immediately. Instead he looked at his watch to check the time. It was 8:00 post meridiem. There was no stopping it now. What was about to happen was going to go on whether he accepted it or not. He lay back down on his couch and gazed at the ceiling. “Twilight, do you ever get the feeling…”
He never had the chance to finish his question. A sharp metal object pierced his heart and he lost control of his breathing. Spike gagged and coughed blood as the sharp knife was shoved into his chest. He knew he was going to die, but he did not had the slightest thought that it would happen to suddenly. Spike thought it could have begun in the middle of the night. It did not matter now. He was about to die. His mouth was a waterfall of blood. Before he took his final gasp of air, his eyes caught hold of the assailant. With cold, distant eyes Twilight Sparkle drew the knife off his chest.
The knife was removed, blood gushing out of his abdomen. Spike fell off the couch and blood from his chest and mouth poured on to the carpet. He was on his knees and his hands protected his stabbed heart. If Spike could see his own eyes he would see that his pupils have shrunk to an incredibly small size. His body grew weak from the amount of blood that escaped his body. Twilight stood over him. No wicked smile, no remorseful tears, no emotion was present in her face. The two former friends locked eyes at each other for the final time, and Spike fell on his face.
All was done. Twilight dropped the bloodied knife and gazed at the body of her friend lying on the floor. She did not know why she had done it. It was one of those mysteries about herself she can never hope to explain. A pool of blood surrounded Spike, sure to make a huge stain on the carpet. Twilight thought about what to do with the body. She could bury it, but the police may find it. The option of chopping him up into pieces also came to her mind.
To her surprise, Spike was still moving. Maybe that one stab to the heart was not enough to kill him. Twilight grabbed the knife and tip-toed to him. She raised it the air and readied her arm for some exercise. Spike turned himself over… and a bullet blast through her heart.
Twilight dropped the knife and held her hands over her chest. Now she was the one who was losing control of her breathing. The young girl felt the heat of the bullet burning her insides. She dropped to her knees then fell backwards, coughing blood in the process. The last thing she saw was the ceiling. Then she was gone.
Steam flowed from the muzzle of the firearm, and Spike gave a final sigh of relief before he drifted off completely. Spike and Twilight Sparkle are dead. The house will be silent for all eternity.
A sudden knock on the door interrupted the silence in the house. “Hello? Twilight? Spike?” a young female voice answered. “It’s me, Pinkie Pie. May I come in?” No answer was given to her, so Pinkie let herself in their home. It seem odd that Twilight never answered the door. Maybe she was busy, she thought to herself. But if she was busy, then why didn’t Spike answer it? Maybe she was overthinking things.
“Twilight? Spike?” she called out. No answer again. This was strange. They were always home around this time of the evening. “Where are you?” The pink-haired girl raised her head high and low, but there was no sign of Twilight or Spike. Maybe they were planning a surprise party for her, but that would be impossible because she would have known about before hand. “Where are they?” Pinkie asked herself.
A bitter smell ambushed her nostrils. Her thumb and index finger protected her nose from catching anymore of the foul stench. It was coming from the living room. What on earth would they be doing in there that caused that rotten smell? As much as she did not want to, Pinkie decided to investigate. “Twilight, Spike, what’s going on?” she asked as she entered the living room.
What she saw will give her horrific nightmares for years to come. Pinkie almost caused the glass to break when she shrieked. She saw Spike lying face down on a puddle of his own blood. Her eyes shifted to Twilight, who was lying on her back with a bullet wound on her chest. Her face was contorted to an everlasting painful expression, with her eyes open.
Pinkie had the feeling her stomach was about to expel her lunch. She became weak in the spirit and dropped to her knees. “Oh my god, who did this?” she wailed. Her cries echoed throughout the rooms in their home. Two of her best friends are dead. Who could have done this?
In the midst of her tears, Pinkie found a letter lying on the living room table. Maybe that could give her some answers. She wiped her face and began to read it.
She never got passed the first sentence. A bullet struck Pinkie in the lower part of her abdomen. She dropped the letter and put her hand over the spot where the bullet landed. She screamed in pain. Pinkie fell on her back as blood oozed from the bullet hole. Pinkie looked overhead to catch a glimpse of the assailant. “Why… Why,” she said.
Once she saw the face of her killer, Pinkie lost the strength and the will to complete what she had to say. The one holding the gun was her best friend, Twilight Sparkle. She looked as though she had never been shot, despite the bullet hole on her chest. With unsympathetic eyes, Twilight held the handgun at Pinkie’s face.
“Twilight… why?”
Another bullet made a direct hit to her heart. This time, it was from Spike, who somehow found the strength to make another killshot. Pinkie’s biological clock was on its final countdown. Small tears escaped her eyes when she saw Spike holding his gun.
“Spike…”
That was all she had time to say before she was motionless on the floor with two bullets inside her. Pinkie has died, and her two dead friends killed her.
Fluttershy was on her way home until she saw that the door to Twilight’s home was open. Why was it left wide open like that, she thought to herself. Doesn’t she know that someone might want to break in and steal her stuff? However Twilight was smarter than her, and she may have her reasons for leaving the door open.
Curiosity took over the better part of her, and she decided to visit Twilight and Spike. Since the door was open she let herself in. “Hello? Twilight?” she said to the silent house. “Your door was open so I thought I come by to visit, if that’s okay with you.” She received no answer. “Twilight? Spike? Is anybody here?” Nothing.
A smell that was offensive to her sense of smell invaded her nose. She also saw small puffs of smoke clouds coming from the living room. Fluttershy gagged at the smell, and pulled out a piece of tissue to cover her nostrils and mouth.
“Twilight, what’s going…”
The words escaped from her when she came across the most disturbing image she had ever seen in her life. She screamed in bloody horror as the sight of Pinkie lying motionless on the floor with two bullet holes on her was the first thing she saw. Fluttershy tried to look away, but caught hold the horrendous image of Spike face down on a small puddle of his blood, and Twilight lying on her back. Her horrified screams were mixed with anguished sobs. “Twilight! Spike! Pinkie! No!”
Fluttershy fell on her knees and cried for her dear departed friends. While she was crying her eyes out she found a note firmly grasped in Pinkie’s dead hand. She removed the letter and began to read it, hoping to find out who had done this treacherous act.
By the time she made it passed the first sentence, Fluttershy heard a loud gunshot… and it brought great pain on her chest. She was thrown to the ground and she shrieked in torture. Fluttershy held her hands over the part of her chest the bullet hit her. Her eyes scanned the room for whoever did this to her.
The identity of the shooter shattered her heart to a million peices. In front of her, Pinkie Pie held a gun that was smoking from its muzzle, indicating that she was one who made the shot. As the heat from the bullet set fire to her insides, Fluttershy was too shocked and also in incredible pain to produce any words. The gunshot caused a tremendous amount of blood loss. Fluttershy tried to get up and call for help but it was no use, she was dying. For the remainder of the few seconds she had left on the earth, she cried until she breathed for the last time.
Rainbow Dash was not the one who would take a brisk evening walk across town, but the temperature was just perfect for such an occasion. The night was not too hot or not too cold, just the way she liked it. She was trapped in her own little world of while she walked peacefully under the starry sky. Dash imagined herself being a member of the Wonderbolts Reserve. However, multiple gunshots from Twilight’s house knocked her out of her perfect world.
“Whoa, what the heck was that?”
She sprinted quickly like a bolt of lightning into the home of Twilight Sparkle. Rainbow thought that burglerers have made an unannounced visit and have kept her and possibly Spike hostage. As she was near Twilight’s home her fears were confirmed when she saw that the door was open. “Hang on guys, I’m coming!” she yelled.
Rainbow searched the house for any home invaders, but the house of eerily silent. Maybe the burglerers were hiding. It was no use since Dash had keen eyesight and can spot someone at least three miles away. “You guys better come out and leave my friend alone!” she yelled. “Or else I’m gonna...”
When she approached the living room a strong and detestable smell entered her nose as well as large puffs of gun smoke. “Oh no,” she mumbled. Dash hoped nothing bad happened to Twilight. A horrific sight was displayed in the living room. Not only did she find Twilight dead, but Spike, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy were on the floor dead.
“What the… ” Rainbow backed away slowly, hoping and praying this was all just a nightmare. Sadly the nightmare will not fade. Just looking at the bodies of her dead friends made gaps in her breathing. Tears of both anger and anguish flowed from her velvet eyes. She gazed at Fluttershy’s body and wondered who had the nerve to take the life of the most kindest person she had ever known. Rainbow clenched her fists and vow to bring justice to whoever did this evil deed to her best friends. From the corner of her eye she saw a note by Fluttershy’s lifeless hand. Rainbow grabbed it and began to read the words it contained, hoping the name of the murderer would be found in the letter.
A gunshot rang by the time Rainbow made it passed the second sentence. Rainbow was thrown off balance and grabbed her shoulder in pain. She let out a scream and cursed. Dash scanned the room for the perpetrator and prepared to take him or her down.
What she did not expect was to see Fluttershy holding a smoking gun at her face. Rainbow’s face soften, but a feeling of confusion and betrayal coursed through her. She was stunned to the point where she did not know what was real anymore. “Fluttershy… why…”
Fluttershy said nothing and let another bullet from her gun strike her heart, and watched as Rainbow fell backwards. The last image she ever saw was that of Fluttershy’s cold, heartless eyes.
Applejack heard the gunshots from across the intersection. She ran to the scene of the crime and grew hopeful that she might be able to catch the assailant in time. Her courage turned into fear when she found out the gunshots came from Twilight’s home. The worst part of it all was that the door was open, probably from home invaders.
“Land sakes!” she exclaimed. “Hang on Twilight, good ole Applejack’s coming to help!” After the blonde farmgirl ran into the house she searched every direction for Twilight and the hoodlums who broke into her home. She smelled the troubling scent of gun smoke coming from the living room. “Oh no,” she muttered. Applejack prayed that Twilight was not hurt.
Her fears were confirmed in the most impossible way imaginable. Twilight’s cold, lifeless body was lying on its back with a bullet hole on her chest. Spike was face down on the ground surrounded by a puddle of dried blood. Pinkie, Rainbow, and Fluttershy’s bodies were covered with multiple bullet wounds. “No… no.” The image was so terrible Applejack thought her stomach was going to eject the slice of apple pie she just ate. Seeing the bodies of her dead best friends made her want to scream to the heavens.
Before she could do that Applejack felt a quick and searing pain on her leg. She fell to the floor and grasp the bullet wound with her palms. The farmgirl screamed and cried in agony and blood made its way from the bullet wound through her hands. She looked up to see the one who shot her.
She found Rainbow Dash aiming a gun at her face…
The next morning Rarity thought she dropped by Twilight’s home for a quick visit and also to return a book she let the fashionista borrow. The book in question was The Devil Wears Prada, a book she had always wanted to get her hands on. Maybe the two of them could also have a cup of tea before she had to return to her work at the Carousel Boutique.
Twilight’s home was in sight and Rarity giggled with excitement. However, once she drew closer, she could sense that something was wrong. Terribly wrong. The door to her home had been left opened all night. Rarity gasped in horror. Twilight was the smartest girl in the world, why on earth would she let her door open when hooligans could walk right in do something terrible to her? Rarity entered the house and called for her friend by name.
“Twilight? Darling, are you in here,” she asked. “You left your door opened all night. Don’t you know that is not the most dangerous thing to do?” Twilight did not answer her. Why is she acting so strange, Rarity asked herself. “Twilight, where are you?”
She smelled an awful scent coming from the living room. Rarity thought Twilight was probably working on an experiment, which she soon realize was impossible because she performs her experiments in the comfort of her basement. “Twilight, are you in here?”
What she found will haunt her dreams for the rest of her life. Rarity found Twilight on the floor with a bullet wound on her heart. The rest of her friends were decorated with bullet holes. The most horrific one out of all of them was Applejack, who had a large hole on the middle of her forehead.
Rarity knelt down before the grisly display of violence and wept. Who would do this to her dear friends? They have done no wrong to anyone. Her soft weeping morphed into loud sobs. Her tears melted the eyeliner which gave the illusion of black tears falling from her eyes.
Finally, she saw Spike lying with the bodies, face down. “Spike… Spikey Wikey,” she said through her sobbing. Poor Spike. He was only a child. What kind of cruel, heartless individual would possess the damning nerve to hurt a little boy? Rarity held his cold body and cried a hurricane.
There was a piece of paper on the center of the floor. Rarity wiped her tears and held it to her face, thinking this may provide her some clues as to who carried out this disgusting chore.
She read the entire letter.
A gunshot was heard. Rarity felt something penetrate the lower part of her chest. Something that was setting a burning sensation inside her. Her white dress shirt turned red and she felt like she could die at any moment. The murderer had her. Rarity looked around the room, hoping to catch the evil man who did this before she went away.
“Rarity,” a low voice said. She looked ahead and to her horror she saw Spike holding a gun, and it was aimed at her. It was not long until the rest of her friends follow suit.
Crime scene investigators Woodrow and Hammond searched all over the house, each one gathering evidence for the murders of the six ladies and the boy. The bodies were already covered and taken to the morgue. The handguns they carried were confiscated, including the knife that was used to stab Spike in the heart. Inspector Hammond and Detective Woodrow glanced at each other confusingly.
“Man, what happened here?” Hammond asked.
“I know. That was some bloodbath,” Woodrow commented. “What do you think set it off? An argument? A fight? Money?”
“I rather not know. But we did found this.” Hammond reached into his coat pocket and pulled out the letter Spike had written. It was covered in dried blood. “ It’s a letter from one of the victims. You won’t believe what it says. Let me read it to you:
Dear Rarity,
I don’t know how to say this, so I’m going to write it instead. By the time you finish reading this, you, our friends, and myself will be dead. Here is how I think it will all go down. First, Twilight will stab me in the heart with a large knife. Then, I shoot her with a gun I had in my pants pocket. Then Pinkie will come in and me and Twilight will both shoot her. Fluttershy is next. Pinkie will shoot her in the heart. Afterward Rainbow Dash will come in, which will cause Fluttershy to kill her. Applejack will die by a single gunshot to the head by Rainbow as well as a shot to the leg.
Finally, you come in and read the entire letter. Before you decide to leave you will be shot several times by me, Twilight, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Rainbow, and Applejack. I’m sorry it must to come to this. And I’m sorry you were caught in the middle.
I will love you always, even in death

P.S. - Two detectives will find this letter, read it, then kill each other. Just so you know.
“What you do make of that?” Hammond asked.
“I think these people were jacked up in way too much drugs.”
Hammond and Woodrow shared a laugh together at the expense of the victims. They have witness many gruesome crimes throughout their entire careers as detectives. When one’s job is to come face-to-face with death and violence in the daily basis, one can’t help but laugh at the darkness that surrounds them. It was their philosophy they followed for years.
Then the laughter ceased. Hammond and Woodrow looked at each other, although it was not the look of friendliness or playfulness they always held for each other. There was an unnerving feeling of suspicion in the air between them. They did not know why, but the trust the men had for each other seem to diminish one step at a time. Without the other finding out, both men reached for their guns.
