//-------------------------------------------------------// Timidwings -by garrettjacobsen- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Timidwings was slowly flying to a town called Ponyville. He wanted to work at the cloud factory in Cloudsdale, and Cloudsdale was very close to Ponyville. He saw the town in the distance. He was a shy pony and did not want to become the center of attention by landing in town square, so he flew towards the woods. He set down in a clearing near the center of the woods. The wind slipped through his feathers as he folded his wings. The birds chirped out a beautiful melody. It sounded almost practiced and coordinated. He always loved nature, and he wanted to hear more of this glorious song. Timidwings listened in and got an approximation of where the song was coming from. He walked closer until he could see the birds, and finally realized that he was not alone in the woods. A pale yellow mare was standing in the sun, waving her hoof in the air and conducting the bird's song. The pony suddenly suddenly sensed another presence and turned around. Timidwings jumped into a bush and hid. He was shy and wanted to avoid a conversation. The yellow pony spoke. "Um, could you, uh, come out of, the, um, bush?" Timidwings was suprised. This pony was as shy as he was. He stepped out of the bush and quietly said: "Um, I'm sorry, you made a nice song, and, um, I wanted, to, um, hear it." "I'm Fluttershy, uh, what's your name?" "Timidwings." He told Fluttershy. "It's, uh, nice to meet you, Timidwings." She walked past him in the direction of Ponyville. As she passed him, their feathers slid against each other, and he shivered with happiness. He was in love. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 "HOAAHAH!!" Timidwings sucked in a massive amount of air. He lay on his side in the sand, shivering. He blinked water out of his eyes and looked at his saviour. Fluttershy. It was Fluttershy. She said something to him, but he couldn't hear her. The impact with the water left a ringing sound in his ears. He tried to read her lips but all he caught was "stay here, I'm going to" before Fluttershy trotted off. He wanted to rise and thank her, he wanted to nod his head 'okay', but he couldn't. All he could do was accept defeat. He slipped into unconciousness. He woke up in the Ponyville hospital as a nurse stepped over to him with an IV tube in her mouth. She stuck it in his leg, and he fell asleep promptly. He dreamed of the past, the reason why he came to Ponyville to make clouds. He never wanted to press clouds out of a factory, he had dreams. He was hovering over his own shoulder. A blur stepped towards him, screaming something at him. He couldn't understand what it wanted to tell him. The blur lashed at him, and he watched from behind, feeling every hit. The copy of him fell, and the blur noticed him for the first time. It struck him directly, and he woke. "Ah!" The pain of the dream was all to real, he stung on his side, and realized it was bandaged. He wasn't attacked by a creature, he was hit with lightning. It was a burn. He looked around the room. It was white, with a single machine pumping clear liquified medicine into his leg. He had almost no strength, but fought his weakness to lift his head. No one was in the room, and the lights were off outside his door. "It must be nighttime." he thought. His head slammed back into the pillow as he used the rest of his accumulated strength. A single feather fluttered across the room, and he followed it with his eyes until he fell asleep. The same dream again. The blur came out of the shadows, but this time it was... cleaner. Timidwings could see the blur's rough shape, and saw that it had four legs. He also saw that something was coming out of its mouth. It flew forward and attacked the past version of himself again, striking him to the floor. The blur turned and where Timidwings assumed the eyes were was glowing red. It struck him and his eyes flew open. He turned and saw Fluttershy laying on the couch waiting for him to get up. She looked up at him and saw he was awake. "How's your burn?" She asked. "It feels better." He told her. "You were restless the whole time. You tossed and turned, and when I tried to feel your forehead with my hoof you flinched." She said. "I love you." Timidwings said. He wasn't even thinking, but he was sort of happy that he finally got that out to her. Suprise registered on her face, but she quickly replied. "I love you too." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 Timidwings took a moment to gather himself before continuing to Ponyville. He knew he held a crush on the mare named "Fluttershy" but did not know how to show his feelings for her in a way that would overcome her shy nature and have her see the value in him. He decided to get settled in a home in Ponyville and report to the cloud factory before persuing any love interests. He walked to the town and looked around cautiously. So far he had not gathered any unwanted attention. He pulled a scroll out of his saddlebag and layed it on the floor to read. He was going to be staying in a property near the woods. He made his way to the property only to see Fluttershy moving in the same direction. He made it to his home and noticed that Fluttershy lived in the house not too far away. Maybe the realtionship he dreamed of could work. He dropped his saddlebag near the bedroom door and exited the house. Looking up, he saw Cloudsdale. Timidwings reared back and pushed off the ground. He flew towards the puffy white city of pegasi. The wind slipped through his feathers quickly and smoothly. He glided through the skies with ease. Then a flash off color sent him reeling backwards. A cyan pony flew through the air leaving a line of rainbow behind her. As she broke the sound barrier, color burst in all directions. It was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, apart from Fluttershy. He continued towards the Cloudsdale cloud factory. Upon landing a pegasi with white hair and a cutie mark of a leaf blowing in the wind stepped forward. "I am Windfur, your overseer, and I am here to teach you the ropes." Timidwings did everything commanded of him, but had a distant look in his eyes. He was thinking about Fluttershy, and how he could convince her he was worth loving. He didn't stop thinking about her even when he created his first cloud. He promised himself he would visit Fluttershy after work. An hour later, the bell rung at the factory, and it was time to leave. Timidwings took flight, and enjoyed the setting sun. He was watching it set, and then he flew into a gray cloud. The electricity coursed through his body as he twitched out. He plummeted through the sky in the light of the moon, and slammed into the surface of a lake. The impact of the water stunned him. He could barely move, and sank to the bottom of the lake. The last thing he saw was pale yellow, and though to himself: 'at least I get to see her one more time.' Then jaws clenched on his scruff, and he was violently pulled from the water.
