A pile of newspaper articles lay strewn upon the desk and floor of a distressed Princess Twilight Sparkle's crystal library castle. "Octavia, Lyra, Lightning Dust, Bonbon, and the most recent victim,.....SPITFIRE?!" Twilight had been reading about some ponies who had been reported missing and had been assumed to be the victims of some kind of either murder or kidnapping. "How did they get Spitfire? She's the captain of the Wonderbolts. Like sure, she's not of the fastest of the group, but this pony napper must be REEEEAAALY good. It's scary. Maybe I should go get the girls. I mean, the ones who aren't on vacation............or crazy," she added
under her breath.
Rainbowdash heard a knock on her cloud door. "If it's you, Derpy, Next time, just leave the stuff outside like I told you! Stop waking me up at 9 in the morning!," she yelled angrily at the door before opening it and seeing a friend at the other side. "Oh, heeeeyyy, Twilight," said Rainbowdash.
"RAINBOW, YOU'VE GOT TO HELP ME!!! PLEEEEAASE," the lavender alicorn screeched a screech that would have Pinkie Pie put to shame.
"Huh? asked Rainbowdash.
"DON'T YOU EVER READ THE PAPER?!"
"No, actually, reading the NEWS is your job, ya know? Like the job for all you eggheads," the rainbow haired pegasus replied.
"Fine, I'll just tell you since you're probably the only pony in all of Ponyville that doesn't know, said Twilight. Ponies are going missing, something do with muffins and I want you to help me investigate. You and Applejack, that is."
Rainbow thought about it. "Okay, 2 questions. 1,why in the wide, wide realm of Equestria would I help you with something so silly, so weird, so........TWILIGHT as to 'investigate' the reasons to a few ponies going 'missing' when they're probably just out of town, and 2, why do you want ME and Applejack? Can't you just have some pony else take my place?," Rainbow asked.
"Hmm," said Twilight "I'm going to answer your 2nd question first. Fluttershy and Rarity are at Canterlot because of that butterfly migration Fluttershy wanted Rarity to see, which leaves 4 of us here. I needed a 3 pony team so I thought, 'I'll go visit Dash and AJ to convince them to come along with me and we'll find out what's going on here'".
" But Pinkie-"
"NO!!" Rainbowdash was interrupted by the psycho she knew as 'Good old Twilight'. "SHE'S CRAZY! SHE'S NOT LOGICAL! AND FOR SOME REASON I THINK THAT SHE'S HIDING A UNICORN HORN UNDER THAT PINK AFRO OF HERS! I MEAN, EXPLAIN TO ME THAT 'PINKY SENSE' OR HOW SHE 'RUNS' SO FAST THAT IT 'LOOKS' LIKE SHE'S TELEPORTING! SOOO NO! ANYONE! BUT! PINKIE PIE!!!," she yelled before talking in a more serious and almost evil sounding tone. "And to answer your first question, you should help me because the captain of your idols is one of those ponies who 'are probably just out of town'," she answered.
"Spitfire?," Rainbow asked in fear and confusion.
"Yes, Spitfire," answered Twilight very slowly, as to try to let her words sink in to her pegasus friend.
"TO APPLEJACK'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!," Rainbowdash screamed at the top of her lungs. "I'M GOING TO SAVE A WONDERBOLT...... AGAIN!" She grabbed Twilight and flew out of her cloud house so fast that if she had actually turned around she would have seen a beautiful Sonic Rainboom.
"What in the who an' what now?," Applejack asked after Twilight explained everything. "So y'all mean to tell me that you're goin' on some kind of detective-ish Ahm gonna go find out what happened ter some ponies just 'cause Ahm curious kind of thang?"
"Yeah, basically," said Twilight and Rainbowdash in unison.
"Well sorry, but Ah got work to do 'round here. Them apples aint gonna buck themselves ya know?"
"Hmmmmm," said Rainbow as she and Twilight exchanged a mischievous look with each other.
"Do you want to tell her?," Twilight asked Rainbowdash. "I got to give you a very effective motive for coming with me."
"Thought you'd never ask," she said. The next second, she leaned close to Applejack and whispered 10 absolutely SPINE CHILLINGLY EVIL words. "You'll be stuck with Pinkie Pie if you don't come."
Rainbow's words hung in the air.
"You wouldn't dare," said Applejack.
"Oh yes I would, AJ," said Rainbow. "Remember back at the cherry orchard?'Chimmy Cherry, Cherry Chonga? Chimmy Cherry, Cherry Chonga?'," she said, mocking their crazy, talkative, hyper active friend, Pinkie Pie. "We aren't afraid to lock you in a room with her until me and Twilight here are back, which could take a while," she said threateningly.
"It might take us a VERY long time figure this one out, if we WANTED to take a while," added Twilight, knowing that Apple Jack would crack soon enough.
"So, where do we head first?," asked Applejack, visibly sweating, fear in her eyes.
Meanwhile, in a secret base of operations :
"Apple Bloom, do you have the potion?," asked Derpy.
"Yes, Derpy, Zecora helped me brew it. Do you have the next batch of muffins to put it in?," she replied.
"Yes. They have just been finished. Has Zecora decided who the next victims will be?," asked Derpy.
"Not all of them, but she's already chosen one," Apple Bloom answered.
"And who would be the unlucky pony?," Derpy asked the filly.
"Actually," Apple Bloom began, adjusting her bow, "the victim is a dragon, by the name of Spike."
