Spike touched his bruised cheek with a claw. He gazed up at Twilight with shock.

"And even after all we've been through..."

Twilight's tear soaked eyes pierced Spikes heart like a knife through butter. Her look of complete betrayal was like all his fears of abandonment combined into one stare. It was almost to much for Spike to handle seeing Twilight like this.

How could have Twilight known about his fear? And this wasn't the way he thought she would act when he told her (If he told her at all). But Twilight was acting like she had just been told the most horrific news in her entire life.

Spike couldn't know, but it was the most horrific news that she ever heard.

Twilight didn't look away from the injured drake.

"How Spike?.... how could you ever think that I would just.... just... abandon you!?  Your the most impotent person in my life, Spike. Heck!  I don't think that I could live without you."

Spikes eyes widened.

"R-Really?"

She sighed, and gave a nod.

"Of course, Spike."

He looked away, still not fully convinced.

"I don't want to be a useless burden..."

Now it was Twilight's turn to be shocked.

"Burden... BURDEN!" She suddenly got louder. "How could you ever think that your a burden on me?!"

Spike didn't flinch.

"Well for starters, you have all those ponies who help you around the castle now. So you don't need me anymore. There doing my job!" Spike suddenly got louder.  He looked at Twilight and pointed a finger at her. "I've only got one thing in this life Twilight. One purpose! And that's to take care of you, Twilight! I love you!"

Both their eyes widened. Spike clamped a claw over his muzzle after he realized what he had just said.  He mentally prayed that she would just drop the whole point there and move on.

Sadly for him, Twilight asked.

"Y... you l-love me?"

'Shit. Well there's no turning back now.'

Spike sighed, but did not look away.

"Twilight do you remember back when we were just kids, and you used to say that you 'loved me' before going to sleep every night?"

"Spike I didn't mean it that way..."

He held up a claw.

"I know Twilight... I know. Ether did I take it as anything other than friendship back then. I mean, we were just kids. But as the years went on, and when we moved to Ponyville I stopped seeing you as a childhood friend, and started seeing you grow into the beautiful, sweet, and attractive mare that you are today."

Twilight blushed, but continued to listen.

"I know that you must only think of me as a friend, or even a little brother, but dammit Twilight. I'm in love with you!"

Spike jumped up and pulled the Princess of friendship into a deep kiss.

Twilight blushed furiously, but did not resist. She was to shocked to take any action. Her assistant, best friend, and a person who was practically her brother was kissing her! And not only that, but Spike had just confessed his love for her. She would be lying if she said that she wasn't flattered, and Spike wasn't bad on the eyes at all....

But this was just happening to fast.

So slowly, Twilight pulled Spike away. She turned away from his dejected eyes.

"Twilight I...." He closed his eyes as tears formed in them, and then slammed his fist into the table. Earning a gasp from the mare. "I'M SO STUPID!"

Twilight's mouth was agape as she watched Spike open his wings and take flight....

.... he was heading to the Everfree Forest.

She couldn't move. She couldn't fly after him. All she could do was whisper this.

"I just need time to think..." Said Twilight, her own tears pouring down her cheek.

But Spike was already gone.

"Twilight?"

The mare in question jumped when she heard the voice and turned around. Only to come face to face with Celestia and Luna.

"P-Princess's *sniff* h-how long have you been standing there?" Asked Twilight, blinking away her tears.

They both looked at each other with remorseful expressions. Then they looked back to Twilight.

"We need to talk...." Twilight raised an eyebrow. "About our love for Spike, and that includes your love for him as well."

The Princess of Friendships eyes widened.

Spike flew through the cold morning air, and with only one thought on his mind.

To get as far away from Canterlot as possible.

"How could I have been so stupid?!.... Twilight would never abandon me...and...and...." Spike landed upon a clearing inside the forest. Where the trees opened up to show a beautiful (and Ice cold) river.

He collapsed onto his knees and screamed to the heavens.

"and....and...SHE WILL NEVER LOVE ME!" He slammed his fists onto the muddy ground. The fast waters of the ice cold river seemed to increase in speed as dark thoughts clouded his defenseless mind.

Spike laughed madly. An insane smiled forming upon his face.

"I should have just keep my mouth shut!  Now Twilight hates me.... now she WILL abandon me. But I still have Celestia and Luna, right?..." His smiled grew. "No! of course I don't!"

He stared at the freezing water. Thoughts of ending it all filled his mind.

"I can't have both!  I'm a sick freak for just thinking about it. Hell!  I'm so pathetic that I've sleep with both of them this weak... I'm a dragon, I can't have a harem, and I can't even decide between the two. This whole weak I've led them on!  What kind of monster am I?"

Spike looked into the water and stared at his reflection.

His insane smiled long gone.

Now replaced with a look of self disgust.

"Apparently one who likes to lead on mares and have lewd thoughts about his own.... sister."  Spike stood up and came right to the edge of the river. He placed one leg out....

"They deserve better..." He said aloud.

Then he jumped in.

Twilight stood there speechless, shocked, and dumbfound at what the Princess had just told her.

For the seventh time.

She blinked her eyes.

"So help me understand this please." Twilight rubbed her forehead. She then pointed a hoof at Celestia. "So you are in love with Spike?" Celestia nodded, then she pointed a hoof at Luna. "Your also in love with Spike?" Luna nodded. "And the both of you have been having... relations.... with Spike all weekend just to help him decide who to choose. But now you two have decided to share him and create a harem."

Twilight took a breath.

"Yes Twilight. Once again that's what happened." Sighed Celestia.

Luna turned to her sister, annoyed.

"I thought you said that she was smart?"

Twilight glared at Luna.

Celestia smacked her sister on the back of the head. Then she turned to Twilight.

"Now Twilight... how do you feel about Spike?"

She was caught off guard by the question.

How did she feel about Spike?  I mean, she had raised him since he was just a hatching. She had taken care of him almost like a mother would. She fed him, bathed him, and even changed his diapers!

She was his mother! Or at the very least his sister.

But then again, so had Celestia done the same. And here she was now telling Twilight about how much she loved Spike. So maybe Celestia's feelings of motherhood had changed over time into something else.

But had Twilight's feeling changed as well?

Over the years she watched Spike grow up. From a baby, to a child, and now to a handsome young drake.

'Did I just call Spike... handsome?' thought Twilight.

But anyway!  Spike wasn't a baby anymore. He was handsome, sweat, kind, and a loyal dragon. He wasn't a hatching anymore.

He wasn't a hatching anymore.

He wasn't a baby anymore.

He wasn't her baby dragon anymore.

He was an adult now.

He was a very muscular adult.

A very muscular adult who loved her with all his heart.

A adult who had just confessed his most deep and true feelings for her.

A adult who's heart she had just destroyed.

Twilight's eyes widened.

Without a second of hesitation she opened her wings and took flight.

She was heading to the Everfree Forest.

Celestia and Luna were close behind.

"Don't worry Spike, I'm-" She then noticed the other two alicorns flying beside her. Both of them had looks of confidence and compassion. Celestia and Luna both nodded to Twilight.

That made her smile.

Twilight then transferred her gaze back to the distant forest.

"No! Were coming Spike...." She flapped her wings harder. "Your mares are coming for you. And I promise to fix everything."

But was it already to late?....
