Gokai Changeling
Chapter One
Load Full Story"Marvelous?" Gai asked the captain of the pirate ship. "Marvelous?"
Marvelous looked up, annoyed. "What is it?" he asked, turning to Gai.
"The Goseigers are almost here," said Gai, "and you haven't done anything!"
"Have you?" Marvelous countered.
"Yep. The whole crew is working." Sure enough, the entire crew were preparing for the arrival of their guests. Ahim was setting the table with plates, silverware and napkins. Don was in the kitchen, cooking the meal. Luka and Joe were cleaning up around the pirate ship, although not working quite as enthusiastically. Gai and Navi, the resident mechanical parrot, had put up lots of streamers and balloons. And yet, in stark contrast from his crew, Captain Marvelous was relaxing in his chair.
"You overdid the decorations. This isn't supposed to be a birthday party," Marvelous told Gai.
Before Gai could protest, there was a knock at the door. Navi flew over and opened it. Outside on the deck of the flying pirate ship were five young adults and a shiny humanoid robot. The group walked in and were greeted by the pirates.
"So," asked Alata, one of the guests who had short reddish-brown hair, "Who's birthday is it?"
In another ship, not too far in space from the pirate ship party, a strange meeting was being held. Surrounded by henchmen was a figure with a large, thick black cross masking his face. The figure began to speak.
"Greetings remnants of the Black Cross and Zangyack empires. Today is the day we will finally get rid of the annoying little space pirates: Kaizouku Sentai Gokaiger!" The crowd roared as the figure picked up a remote control from a nearby table and pressed a button on it. A projector flickered on, displaying a picture of the Gokaigers on the wall behind him. There were six of them in the picture, dressed in multicoloured spandex suits and helmets, which mimicked the design of pirate clothes. Each was armed with guns and swords.
"We will attack while they are distracted by their guests, Tensou Sentai Goseiger," he continued. The screen changed again, showing more people in colourful helmets and spandex costumes. However, their costumes weren't pirate-themed at all, and there were only five of them, instead of six. "This will rid us of not just one, but two of the Super Sentai teams!"
One hand poked up from the crowd. "What if we can't kill them?" a henchman asked. Murmurs arose from the crowd.
The leader laughed maliciously. "We don't have to. We simply kick them out of their flying pirate ship, the Galleon. Then we take away their mecha and kidnap their ally, Gosei Knight." The screen changed again to show Gosei Knight, a humanoid robot with gold and silver metal. Its helmet had a noticeable red eyepiece. There were also other forms of the robot on the screen, including a large mecha and a hovering head big enough to fit in one's hand.
The leader continued to explain his plan. "Then, we send the Sentai far away, so far that they won't come back in at least decades without transportation. Someplace that lacks sufficient technology to build a spaceship, or advanced weapons. A place with no advanced humanoid life whatsoever! And I know just the place."
"Something isn't right," said Marvelous. He looked down at his plate. The chicken curry's aroma floated up to his nose.
"What makes you say that?" Don asked, joining the guests and the crew at the dinner table. "You love curry."
Marvelous picked up his spoon. "Exactly. And how often do I get to eat it without something bad happening?"
"Well, not so often," Don answered, wincing.
Eri, one of the guests, tried a spoonful of the curry and grinned. "I think it tastes delicious," she reassured Don.
"They weren't talking about his cooking skills," informed Joe, who knew the captain best. "Almost every time he starts to eat, the Zangyack Empire attacks."
Alata slowly looked up at the window. "Marvelous? Did you invite anyone else?"
Everyone else at the table followed Alata's gaze. The attack had begun.
A whirring sound came from the door, and it crashed open. In entered a mob of grey minions. The Galleon quaked it was shot by a nearby ship.
Marvelous pulled out his gun and started shooting the attackers. The other pirates and the Goseigers joined him in defending the ship. But it wasn't long until the sentai were surrounded. "We'll need to abandon the ship," Marvelous told his allies. They ran out of the door and onto the deck of the ship, only to be confronted by a figure with a large, black cross in front of his head.
"Isn't that the Black Cross King?" Gai asked.
"Indeed," the Black Cross King answered, knocking out the Gokaigers and Goseigers.
By the time the pirates woke up, they were in the middle of a large apple orchard.
"Is everyone alright?" Ahim asked in concern.
The other Gokaigers nodded, getting up to their feet.
Alata found the pirates soon after. "Good. You're all awake," he said, reassuring himself.
"Where are the other Goseigers?" Don asked.
"They are looking for Gosei Knight," Alata answered. "Have you seen him?" The pirates shook their heads in reply. "Well, if you do see him, let us know. Hyde thinks he found a town nearby, so we will see if we can find a place there to stay for the night." He pointed to the direction he came from.
A call echoed through the woods. "That sounds like Eri," Alata commented. "Maybe she found Gosei Knight!" He ran towards where the sound came from.
Joe looked around and thought for a moment before speaking. "That's three things missing," he noted.
"Three?" Don wondered aloud.
"Gosei Knight, the Galleon, and Navi. None of them are here," Joe explained.
Luka gasped. "So we have no money? How will we survive then?"
"Quiet," ordered Marvelous. "Let's find the Galleon so we can all go home and give the Black Cross King a piece of our mind." He started walking through the orchard, the other pirates following him.
"Wait a second, the Galleon is your home," Gai thought, half-speaking to Marvelous. "So when you say 'find the Galleon so we can all go home,' are you just being redundant or--" Gai grinned wildly "--you love Earth so much that you consider it your home!"
Marvelous ignored Gai's comments, focusing on the rustling leaves above him. A mechanical parrot flew out of the tree and in front of his face.
"Hello, Navi!" Ahim greeted the bird. "Are you alright?"
"No!" Navi answered. "No, I am not alright! I was captured! Captured by the Black Cross! They have the Galleon and Gosei Knight too!" He flew around frantically above the pirates' heads.
"Where are they?" Don asked.
"Well, I think I may have led them here," answered Navi. Suddenly, a group of Gormin sailors appeared from the bushes and began to attack.
"That's not exactly what I meant!" Don screamed.
Marvelous pulled out a morpher and red Gokaiger action figure from his coat. He flipped the top half of the figure, revealing a key. The other pirates did the same with their morphers and keys. In unison, they stuck their keys into their morphers, calling out "Gokai Change!" Their morphers replied by saying "GO-KAIGER!"
Within seconds, the six pirates were standing before the Gormin sailors in colour-coded spandex suits. Their helmets hat been designed to look slightly like typical pirate hats. Their suit consisted of a coloured pirate jacket over a black full-body suit, with boots to match the jackets.
"Gokai Red!" Marvelous called, immmediately shooting two of the grey sailors, slamming them against a tree. Apples fell down on their flat-topped heads.
"Gokai Blue!" called Joe, who slashed his sword and skilfully took down more of the grey henchmen.
"Gokai Yellow!" Luka yelled as she shot a Gormin sailor, who then fell and toppled over a basket of apples.
"Gokai Green!" said Don, swinging on a branch and kicking the sailors in the face.
"Gokai Pink!" Ahim said as she spun around and attacked a few more of the monsters with her sword and gun.
"Gokai--"Gai spun his trident around, harming many henchmen and tree trunks in the process, "--Silver!"
The scene was now littered with the grey monsters, broken tree branches, and smashed apples. "That was surprisingly easy," Marvelous thought aloud.
"Hopefully, the pony won't fly after us either," Navi commented offhandedly.
"The pony?" the pirates asked.
Seconds later, a light yellow pegasus with a pink mane flew towards Navi. "Oh, good," she sighed. "I was so worried about you, Navi. Don't go running off into danger again, now." She began to cradle the mechanical bird in her front hooves.
"What are you doing with our bird?" Marvelous questioned the pegasus sternly. The pegasus whimpered, dropping Navi and retreating until she bumped into a tree. She looked around, realizing she flew straight into a band of pirates.
"She seems scared," Ahim told Marvelous. "Let me try to speak to her." Ahim walked over to the timid pony. "Greetings. What is your name?" she asked.
"Fluttershy," she pony whispered, just loud enough to hear.
"It looks like you met our friend Navi," Ahim gestured to the bird, who was now hopping around on the ground. "Where did you find him?"
"He was in a cage," Fluttershy answered. "The poor thing was begging to get out, so I opened it for him. I was going to take him to my cottage, but he must have flown away before we got there."
"We really appreciate how you saved Navi," Ahim reassured Fluttershy. "Don't mind Captain Marvelous. He's actually much nicer than he seems."
Suddenly, a small filly ran into the group. "Over here, sis!" she yelled. "It's the changelings that trampled the Red Delicious apples!"
Two more fillies followed, as well as an orange young mare with a cowboy hat. "What the hay is goin' on here?" the mare asked the pirates in anger.
"Let's get out of here!" suggested Don, holding up a black Gaoranger key. The other Gokaigers nodded and inserted their Gaoranger keys into their morphers. One their morphers had called out "GAO-RANGER!" the Gokaigers had transformed. Their costumes were now resembling various animals. They immediately ran in the direction of the town Alata had told them about earlier.
"They're headin' to Ponyville!" The mare shouted, running after the Gokaigers.
"They seem to move pretty fast, and they haven't hit a single tree," one filly noted.
"Let's get the scooter!" another filly suggested, leading her friends to another part of the orchard.
Navi flew after Gokaigers as well. "Wait!" called Fluttershy. "Be careful!"
Twilight Sparkle walked through the streets of Ponyville. It was a relatively quiet afternoon, and she was on her way to Sugarcube Corner when she bumped into Bon-Bon. "Sorry about that," she apolgized, seeing the bump on her head. "Are you alright?"
"Oh, yes," she replied with a smile. "Don't worry."
Twilight sighed. "Well, if you need help, feel free to ask," she insisted.
"Oh, no, don't sweat. You probably have a ton of work and politics to worry about, being a princess. And I have to hurry to Lyra's house and tell her what's happening at Sugarcube Corner. She really wouldn't want to miss this!" Bon-Bon walked past Twilight Sparkle, waving to her. "Have a good afternoon!"
Twilight kept walking to Sugarcube Corner, wondering what would be so intriguing there. She pushed the door to the sweetshop open, and what she saw made her eyes go wide in surprise.
Behind the counter, instead of one of the usual employees, was a human. Not a pony in a costume, but an actual human, with fingers on its front hooves, and only the back legs having their hooves on the ground. This one in particular was wearing a chef's hat, an apron, and something with pink sleeves, from what Twilight could see from the other side of the counter. She had brownish hair and a big smile, and seemed almost as enthusiastic and happy as Pinkie Pie usually was. In fact, if Twilight had never seen the human counterparts of most of the Ponyville citizens, she would have thought Pinkie had accidentally humanized herself.
Once Twilight had found Pinkie Pie, she asked "Do you realize that a human is working at the cashier?"
Pinkie giggled. "You ask some funny questions sometimes, Twilight. Of course I know, I've been here all day getting a large muffin order ready. But they're not humans."
"But she looks just like a human!" Twilight protested.
"No, they're not," Pinkie insisted. "They're Gosei Angels. The other one over there told me himself."
"Go say angels?"Twilight asked, trying to make sense of what she heard. "There's more than one?"
"Yes-sir-ee, there's more than one!" Pinkie walked over to the counter. "This is Eri," she said, introducing Twilight to the person working behind the counter. "Eri, this is Princess Twilight Sparkle." Eri waved to the purple mare, who waved back.
Pinkie Pie walked over to the window. "Over there is Hyde," Pinkie said, pointing to a Goseiger with black hair, white pants, and a dark blue sweater, who was not too far outside the shop. "There are three more of them, but they left to look for a robot. Hyde's just out there waiting in case the robot heads over here."
"And what is Eri doing working at the shop?" Twilight asked.
"Well, remember that large muffin order? Turns out that Eri has some baking experience and volunteered to help out," Pinkie explained. "It also turns out that the Goseigers need a place to stay, so in return, I used some of the extra time I got to call a few friends and see if they were alright with a few houseguests. I even asked Spike to ask you, but you seem pretty clueless."
Twilight looked out the window at Hyde. "I think he found something," Twilight thought aloud, as Hyde came back inside. He was followed by three more people. "Are those the other angels?" she asked Pinkie. She nodded in reply.
"There's a stampede out there," warned one of the Goseigers, who was dressed in brown pants and a black sweater.
"A stampede?" Pinkie asked. "I better go get my one-pony band kit!" she ran behind the counter and upstairs to the living area of the shop.
Not long after, six more human-like figures rushed into Sugarcube Corner. "I thought there were only five Goseigers!" Twilight exclaimed.
"Those aren't angels," the Goseiger with the black sweater explained. "They're our allies, the Gokaigers."
"Go kaiger?" Twilight asked, exasperated by all the new words she was hearing. "What is a kaiger supposed to be?"
This time, the Gokaigers were wearing costumes with car motifs. However, they had returned back to their spandex pirate suits upon entering Sugarcube Corner.
Not long after, Applejack and the three young fillies barged in. "You won't get away that easily," Applejack shouted, pointing a hoof at the red Gokaiger.
"What are you talking about, Applejack?" Twilight asked the farmpony.
"They messed up our red delicious crop!" the filly with the big bow in her hair exclaimed.
"You heard Apple Bloom," Applejack said. "There's no way I'm lettin' them get away without proper payment."
Once again, the door to Sugarcube Corner opened. A mechanical parrot entered, followed by Fluttershy, with an excited mob of ponies not far behind. Fluttershy attempted to hold the door shut. "Don't worry, Navi, I won't let the crowd get in!" Fluttershy turned to Twilight. "Help me," she pleaded. "The mob is armed with cameras and butterfly nets!"
Twilight immediately picked up a nearby table with her magic and placed it in front of the door. The Gokaigers and Goseigers turned to the tired pegasus. "Butterfly nets and cameras?" the blue gokaiger asked. "Really?" Seconds later, the room flashed as ponies outside took pictures of the humaniods.
Twilight sat down on the floor and closed her eyes, trying to keep track of everything going on. "So, we got angels and human changelings in Equestria, not to mention a mechanical bird. And all the ponies are trying to get a chance to meet them as if they were the princesses." She opened her eyes and looked up thoughtfully. "Well, assuming that no evil empire is involved, like Queen Chrysalis, I think we'll be alright."
The Goseiger in the red sweater cringed. "Um, yeah, about that..." The other Goseigers cringed and looked away from the ponies, as well as some of the pirates.
Twilight facehoofed. "Well, it can't be as bad as what we dealt with before, right?"
