Olden times in Equestria call up memories of how it used to be. One word comes to mind when this moment in time is mentioned; Chaos.
When you trot into PonyVille, it is a fantastic place to step hoof in. Houses and stores cover the hills of pebbles, meadows of grass, animals, and flowers bring out the town's beauty. Even the equines that possessed the land were as friendly as the savory smell of the apple pies and fritters baked at Sweet Apple Acres. Everywhere you turned was an excited and kind face.
The one's who bring such peace and happiness to Equestria is our dear Princess Celestia and Luna. They are splendid heroes, everypony says. Well, think not. Our winged heroes are thieves. To surprise you, they stole their way to royalty.
Two years from the present, there was a different leader. (Your question is answered; Celestia is very old.) I bet you can't guess who it was. The one and only, Spirit of Chaos. As you'd probably of guessed, Equestria was not the same as it is now. Hills weren't covered with pebbles, but only a slick floor of lathery soap. Almost every house and building were floating. Some even tipped upside down. There were no mouth - dripping smells, only the smell of rain. To be exact, chocolate rain.
No one was friendly or excited, for their faces carried anger and sadness. Everyone felt like they were in prison. But no one even bothered to say something, until two alicorn mares came along. They despised how everything appeared. Even Celestia craved destruction then. It would be a great time to release that feeling on Discord, she had thought. It wouldn't be for the civilization, no, for she wanted to be important.
She wanted to have a high role of sitting on a throne inside a gigantic castle. To be crowned with the finest jewels and to be worshiped by all other weaklings. To be called their ruler. THAT, is all she wanted. What a greedy personality she has.
It had taken a few years for her shameful plan to succeed, but she got what she wished for. And it was exactly what she dreamed it would be like. Celestia even got her own special day for everyone to watch her raise the Sun. But her idea of that annual day wasn't peace, but a reminder to everyone that 'Princess Celestia' was in control.
None of the less, there were many problems of the new change. A few rebellions took place, not many ponies agreed with her ways. And later, because of Celestia's crave for power, her dearest sister, Luna, was pushed aside. Luna was especially angered with this. With that anger, she soon emerged into Nightmare Moon. But then to be banished to the moon by a greater power.
Two hundred years in the future, here we are; the present. Celestia and Luna sit next to each other on a throne, once again. Discord was tucked away in their garden, turned to stone, I should say. But now he is free to roam; for they were sure that his memory had faded of the past. Of course, they were wrong; as always. For this is the story of how I witnessed with my own eyes, Discord retrieving his stolen kingdom.
