//-------------------------------------------------------// Scratching Melodies: Story of Octavia and Vinyl -by Blue Sparkle 227- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1        The music blasted at full volume making the walls of the night club shake. Lights illuminated in a multitude of colors, flashing in tune with the music. In the dance floor, ponies of all races danced to the music, many in various states of intoxication. Some where so drunk that they were passed out on the bar, the tables and even the floor. From behind the DJ booth, Vinyl Scratch, better known by her stage name DJ Pon-3, nodded her head to the beat, her blue mane becoming more messy than in was. The mare's eyes sparkled from behind her shades, a wide grin on her face as she surveyed her audience. Yes, this is what she loved about her music; that it had the power to make these ponies forget their dull lifestyles and worries. The white unicorn continued to scan the crowd, taking in the ponies she saw. Many of them she recognized since they came frecuently. As Vinyl's eyes sweep the bar, a mare she had never seen before caught her attention. If the mare had looked like she'd come to a night club, Vinyl wouldn't have give her a second look. But the mare didn't look like she belonged here at all. The mare was an Earth pony, with a slim but strong frame, he mane long and straight. In between the club's darkness and flashing lights, Vinyl couldn't tell her coloration but the DJ did notice a slightly crooked bowtie around her neck. Also, while everypony else was enjoying the music, the mare looked completely annoyed by it. That and her appearance was enough for Vinyl to guess that the Earth pony was one of those classy, upper crust ponies. The kind who would most likely be at fancy events like the Gala and such. What would a pony like that be doing in this place was beyond Vinyl. The unicorn didn't think much of it though for her set was almost up. As the music came to a close, the crowd exploded into cheers, shaking the whole building. "Thanks everypony!" shouted Vinyl, making herself hear due to a voice amplification spell. "Now, give a round of applause to my good friend, MC W1SH!" Vinyl descended from the mixing table, giving a nod to the light blue unicorn stallion that came her way. "Good luck, Neon Lights." Neon nodded back to her and climbed onto stage. Vinyl walked toward the bar, weaving through the crowd that was dancing wildly once again. Finally reaching the bar, Vinyl took seat on a empty stool which to her surprise was right next to the Earth pony mare she had seen. Now that she was up close, Vinyl could see that her coat was ash-gray with a charcoal - almost black- mane. A large instrument case, a cello or bass judging by it's shape, rested against the bar next to the mare. A fellow musician...guessed Vinyl, this further proven by the purple treble clef that grazed the Earth pony's flank. Ordering a drink, Vinyl continued to stare at the other mare, still wondering why she was here. That's when she noticed the sad expression in the mare's face, purple eyes staring at the glass before her. Her curiosity suddenly getting the better of her, Vinyl tapped the mare's shoulder. "Hey," The mare whipped around in surprise, apparently not having noticed the other mare beside her. Momentary stunned by the reaction, Vinyl snapped out of it and asked. "You ok?" The gray mare got over her surprise and looked a Vinyl with slightly annoyed expression.
