The fire that burned the moon
It returns
Load Full StoryCelestia, the princess of all the ponies, was watching the party that happened in front of her. The small town of Ponyville had brought to her a very special gift for the solstice celebration: they had brought back the only sister she had in this wholesome world. While she loved each and every pony and cared for them all, the sun princess had made a big blunder and had hurt her own sister through lacking the proper attention the young moon princess deserved, which had in turn led said young alicorn to the path of evil. This mistake, however, was not going to be repeated: Celestia would make sure that her little sister took the attention she deserved, both as a sister, and as a princess. Celestia skimmed through the party members to find his little sister, as Luna was talking to the six ponies who had saved her.
The only thing that now impeded the sun princess march to her sister was one white Pegasus stallion, with a golden armor piece that covered his chest and part of his back. In the front of the armor proudly was imprinted the symbol of the sun, while at each side of the symbol laid a star, carefully crafted in the armor, each star having a pair of wings attached to it as well. Seeing the rank on the Pegasus armor, the ruler of Equestria acknowledged him properly.
“What is the matter, Captain?” the towering alicorn asked to her subject. Even though the tone seemed sweet, very much like her usual tone, the hint of annoyance could be heard by the trained ear: and the captain’s ear, like the rest of his body, was nothing but trained.
“I am sorry to disturb you, your majesty” he said bowing politely. “But there is a matter back at the palace that demands your attention” he captain stallion said. Celestia said nothing as she waited, and the captain took the cue for him to continue. "There seems to have been a trespasser. A pegasus colt. He was found in your room." the captain said. "We still do not know what his intentions are, but he insists on talking to you." he said.
Celestia sighed. "Captain, is the colt securely apprehended?" the princess of the sun asked.
"Y-Yes, your majesty, of course but-" the captain of the royal guard was unable to finish his sentence before the Alicorn interrupted him.
"Then the colt can wait. Today is a day for celebration, captain. Any bad news can wait" she said. Hearing nothing more from the pegasus, Celestia walked around him, heading with a smile to meet with her long lost sister.
The night had fallen on the entirety of Equestria; The flap of wings could be heard from the dungeon of the castle: a section that had not been used in a long time. The captain walked down the halls of this dungeon, the soft clack of his hoofs against the stone floor echoed through the entirety of the prison hall. Reaching the end of the hall, he turned towards the last dungeon cell. The eerie darkness of the night intensified as only the light of the moon shone through, simply lighting a small square on the floor, the rest of the cell covered in darkness. Should he not know better, the captain would have said that there was nobody inside, that was until the expected pair of eyes shone in the light, the golden iris stared at the captain, expectantly.
"You are lacking in company, captain. I thought that you would bring the princess with you." a voice came in the vague direction of the eyes. The captain, uncharacteristically, felt a chill run down his spine, as the voice was oddly calm, given the situation the owner was in.
"A simple trespasser like you can wait, the princess is too busy to deal with you. " the captain replied. The voice seemed quiet, simply staring at the captain, as if expecting more of a retort. Feeling another chill threatening upon his spine, he calmed himself by continuing to talk to the odd eyes. "There is nothing for us to worry about anyways. You are too weak to move, too weak to do anything. What is your hurry in hearing your demise?" he said, although the statements were more for himself, as he needed to reinstate his sense of security the metal bars were oddly not giving him.
"You are wrong in one aspect, captain" the voice replied, blinking in the darkness. "I am not strong enough to move nor escape, that much is true, but i am strong enough to talk. And sometimes, words can be stronger than any prison in Equestria"
The captain frowned, stomping his hoof on the ground, the sound echoing through the hall. "None sense! No word, nor sentence can get you out of here." he stated firmly. "There is nothing to fear from your words."
"If that is true, captain" the voice replied. "Then why did you take a step back?" the captain looked at him confused then back down at his hooves. He was surprised to see the distance between himself and the cell bars had grown. Not wanting to accept his fear, he simply left, saying nothing else. The eyes turned, noting the conversation had ended, and focused on the small window, his only source of light.
"The moon sure is beautiful tonight...." he said to himself. Finally completely alone, the eyes crossed from one side of the room, slowly towards the other side. The light of the night gently touched the red coat encompassing his body.. As his flank crossed the moonlight, a red tornado was shown, before the golden strands of his mane glittered with the light, those too were swallowed by the shadows. A new day awaited them, and a surprise for all who were present to see the day come by.
