Chapter 2: Remember

Rain pattered off Jun's helmet as he prowled through the forest. He halted for a moment, taking a quick look around. Unlike the Jungle-like area he had first arrived in, this forest was calm and clean. He began moving again, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. He was going to let the situation earlier blow over so that he could negotiate when he returned. Unless they found him first. Unlikely. Compared to the rest of Noble Team, Jun was literally one with nature. It was quite obvious. His armor sported a forest green color, along with the green cloth wrapped around his upper torso and neck. It didn't make him any less wary though. He scanned the forest and looked for the nearest high ground. Sniper instinct. He approached a ledge and climbed it. From here, he could see most of the nearby forest, along with the town. After a while, he decided that he had seen enough, and leaned against a tree. He rummaged through his pouches to see what he had brought down from 'heaven?' with him. Luckily, he still had his canteen, surprised when it actually had water in it. Jun sighed in relief. The thing he did next was a first for him. He removed his helmet with a click, and poured some water on his hand. He wiped his visor, cleaning the blood off of it. He sipped some water, and donned his helmet. He would have eaten some of a ration bar, only to realize that they taste like shit. He shivered at the thought of somepony liking something as revolting as it. Even Emile had trouble stomaching them.

At the thought of Emile, he wondered what happened to him, Carter, and Six. Were they still fighting the Covenant on Reach? Were they even still alive? The thought saddened him. He was living on while they were suffering. He remembered how Kat died. Shot in the back of the head by that damn Elite sniper. He should have killed it. And Six had to take the pain of watching Jorge sacrifice himself. He missed the big guy deeply. He had many wise words to say, and he could reassure when others couldn't. He wished they could be here with him. In the midst of his thoughts, he realized that he had unsheathed his knife and was sharpening it. Emile was a great comrade too. He had known him since he was inducted into the Spartan-lll program. He was one of the first brothers he made in Alpha company. Six, he never really spoke unless spoken to. A mysterious one, he was. A good soldier, a loyal friend. He had always respected Carter and Kat, even though he knew that they sometimes doubted him. Jun got up and decided to position on another hill, just so he could get a different view angle.

From that hill, he went prone and hefted his SRS99, wondering how in the hell he could hold it. I mean, what the hell? He assumed that if he could hold it, he could fire it. He zoomed in on Ponyville, towards the huge tree he got smashed into. Lucky he decided to do it at this time. The Princess was walking towards the front door. He could have killed her just then. He knew it. As if she was aware, she scanned both directions before knocking on the door. "You were spared this time." He whispered to himself. She was ushered in by that purple unicorn who had actually caused a huge part of this whole ordeal. Good, I guess they're going to find a way to apologize. He clipped his SRS on his back and went over to one of the bushes. Jun unsheathed his knife and cut off some branches and leaves. He decided to make a little headdress for his helmet before he slept. After accomplishing that, he climbed underneath the bush and waited. He checked his motion tracker once more, and then shut his eyes. Soon after, all consciousness left him.
