Chapter 3: Intrusion

Jun awoke to light dappling through the leaves of the bush he slept under. He quickly yawned and checked his motion tracker. Nothing. He scooted out from under the bush and stretched. He brushed his leaf headdress off his helmet and climbed onto the hill he sat on yesterday. His stomach was growling by the time he made it to the top. He checked his motion tracker again before sitting down against the tree. With a quiet click, his helmet was removed. Jun took a few sips of his canteen and sighed. For once in the last few days, he felt relaxed. It was peaceful, without a cloud in the brilliant blue sky and the sound of bird song in the background. He reached into his pouch and pulled out his ration bars. Just seeing that wrapper, just the slightest glimpse of it, made him disgusted. He opened the wrapper revealing one of any Spartans' worse nightmares. All the peace he had been feeling before just disappeared. He closed his eyes and shuddered. "I don't want to do this," he said, stating the obvious. He opened his eyes and took a bite. Then the choking and gagging began. After what felt like the devil shoving hell down his throat, Jun swallowed. He wrapped it up again and placed it in his pouch. He heard the sound of something moving above him. He slowly put his helmet on, then jumped up and around in a combat stance. Turned out it was a just a bird. Just a bird... His attitude started to degrade after that. He looked into the birds eyes and realized that it was... laughing at him? "It's just hilarious isn't it." He took another ration bar out of his pouch and pointed it at the damn thing. "You see this? Of course you do, who wouldn't notice it?" he ranted, before sighing in annoyance. "Just don't make me shove it down your throat, alright?" He lost his patience and walked off into the forest.

Princess Celestia, after hearing the story from Twilight, realized just how wrong she was. She felt the need to apologize to what ever that thing was, but had a feeling that it would react harshly if she attempted to speak to it. It was her fault that it would react in such a way. She could either never live up to her mistake, or try to negotiate with it. She chose to negotiate. Looking back at Twilight, she ordered her to stay put, and gathered her two royal guards. "We need to attempt to find a solution to this problem. I need you two to search the forests for it, then report back to me," Celestia ordered. The two guards saluted and began their task. After an hour, the two returned.

"Princess," said one saluting,"we sighted the beast, and tracked it. Unfortunately, it noticed us and hid away."

The Princess needed to know more about this monster. She gathered Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six. "Come here, my little ponies. Before we confront this monster, we need to know more about it. I know a spell, one that hasn't been used in the last 1000 years. It will bring before us the memories this creature has," she explained. After everypony was settled, she began casting the spell. "Please let me intrude on the memories of this monster," she asked. An orb appeared in the middle of the room, before turning into what resembled a screen. Pieces of information about this 'monster' started appearing on the screen. "His name is Jun." said the Princess, reading what had appeared.

"'His name?'" queried Twilight.

"That is correct. It confirms that he is a pegasus. Full name: Jun A-266. What an odd name... A-266? 'A' stands for Alpha, and it says that 266 was his... designation number. This Jun, is a soldier by the looks of it." She stopped for a moment, shocked. "His original race was human. So the myths are true. Humans do truly exist! That is enough about his personal information for now. We will move on to his memories."

'This is Sgt. Hyland! We're being overrun! We have sustained casualties! I repeat, we need reinforcements!' Hyland looked out onto the battlefield as the Covenant swarmed towards him and the remaining members of his ODST squad. The situation was getting even worse. Plasma flashed everywhere. He looked over at the private next to him and heard a 'pfft' sound. The private went down with a pink needle in his neck. "Fuck," cursed Hyland. One by one the ODSTs next to him were killed, until only him and two others remained. He heard a distant sniper fire in the distance. He turned around in time to see an elite special operative fall with a hole in his neck. He realized just how close he was to dying. More pops came from behind him, and more covenant soldiers fell. Eventually, every covenant soldier was dead. He couldn't believe it. He turned around and saw a figure hefting a SRS onto their back. He zoomed in on the figure in time to see a Spartan nod his head to him and walk off into the forest. He had to give to the Spartan. He wouldn't be living right now if it wasn't for him. VIDEO FEED ENDED

All of the ponies were either in shock at the battle or surprised that they had assumed that Jun was evil. Meanwhile, Jun was lying in the grass thrashing while holding his head. The pain was unbearable! It was the last thing he felt before falling unconscious.
