Dr. Sunset Apollo Shimmer was one of Equestria's leading pseudo-magic scientists. She worked at Tri-Corp, a science and technology company rival only to SparkCorp Industries. Dr. Shimmer had everything her heart desired. Then one day, a freak accident with an experimental generator fused four robotic tentacles to her nervous system. Using her new ablitities, Dr. Shimmer sets out to make a name for herself.

And that name is Doctor Octopus.
