Born To Be Princess

Sunset Shimmer woke up cold, her blanket had fallen off the couch she was sleeping on. The couch she slept on for four years. Sunset sat up and looked around the student lounge, outside the window was pitch black, it was late at night. Probably around midnight, she guessed. She couldn't sleep. Tonight was her last night here, tomorrow was graduation. She grabbed her phone off the coffee table to check the time; 12:23 Sunset scrolled along her contacts, the fist one that popped up was Applejack. The one she had most frequently texted.

Hey Applejack, you awake? She sent the message with a beep. It didn't take long for the girl to answer back.

Couldn't sleep? Sunset smiled.

You know me too well.

Why not you come over to my house right now?

I don't think your grandma will like that.

Lol, no, you could climb in through the window. Sunset paused, contemplating her options, she wasn't going to get to sleep anyway, and she would regret not going.

Ok, see you in 10. Sunset Shimmer slipped her phone into pocket and swung her legs over the edge of the couch and slipped on her leather, black and pink boots. Slung over the couch was her leather jacket, she put that on too. Just a few blocks away from CHS sat Applejack's mansion. The family owned many cider and pie business's so they were never short on money.

"Sunset." A voice whispered, the southern accent was a dead give away.

"Applejack, where are you?" Sunset whispered loudly.

"Above you." Sunset looked up at the source of the noise, two floors up there was a window which Applejack was peeking out of.

"You expect me to climb in through a window two floors up?" She rasped harshly.

"No sugar cube, wait right there." Applejack's face disappeared and shortly after a ladder came tumbling out the window.

"AHHH!" Sunset screamed as the ladder came hurdling towards her. Just a few inches from where she stood, the ladder landed. "Are you CRAZY!?"

"Are you comin' up or not?" Begrudgingly Sunset began to climb. When she got inside Applejack turned on the light.

"Hi, Shimmer!" Pinkie Pie squealed.

"Wah! What are you doing here, Pinkie?"

"I'm Applejack's fourth cousin twice removed by a fifth cousin, duh, why wouldn't I be here." Sunset shook her head in confusion.

"What's up?" Applejack asked, sitting down on her bed and inviting Sunset Shimmer over. Sunset sat down with her, smoothing her skirt out.

"I don't know, senior year, it's- it's over. I don't even have anywhere to go." Applejack slung an arm around Sunset and she let her head fall on the farm girl's shoulder. Pinkie tilted her head and rested it on Shimmer's shoulder as well. She made a face at this, but didn't say anything.

        "You could always stay here with me and Granny... And there is the option of..." Applejack trailed off. Sunset Shimmer heaved a huge sigh.

        "Equestria."

        "Yeah." Applejack said sighing as well.

        "Even if I went back I don't think Twilight would be very happy." Sunset said down cast. "I mean you've seen what she can do, heck she nabbed my ex in a matter of three days, while trying desperately to save the world." Applejack's body shook with a deep chuckle.

        "Twilight's not that bad."

"Maybe so." Sunset looked up at the ceiling. "Maybe so."
